I thought we could help each other with ideas for xmas gifts (for family and friends etc). I'm pretty good with kitchen stuff if anyone's buying any gifts like that.

For my part, Donna has asked me for an iPod dock, and we're both pretty keen on one with a DAB radio included. Got to be around £100 though. Anybody got any experience with this?

I think I pretty much know what I'm buying for people.....well, for basics at least.

Getting one of my two best mates (who I've known for years) Tekken 6 for PS3......I might get that for myself at some point, but not sure.

Hmm, mum probably some books and chocolate.

Dad, whatever....something random and funny he goes for.

Brother, no idea, maybe a cheap 360 game or so.

Ten, some chocolates and maybe something artistic.

Forum members I know and speak to.....I'll get a card for you guys and girls at the very least. :)

Can't really afford anything for the rest of my family this year, but at least I'm buying things for the main people who count. I have like £100 to buy people things, so it has to be spread well.

Good thing I can manage my money well.

Why not? My other half is hindu but that doesn't stop her. Though I think she'd celebrate any festival that means she gets a present :p

I don't think Christmas need have a religious tone to it. It's more about the sentiment of kindness and goodwill to all mankind regardless of what they believe. It has no religious meaning for me really, just a nice festival to share with love ones and show them you care.

Cheers mate.

Anyway, if Tekken 6 came in December instead I would have asked for it.

I don't know what I want!:p

Shock horror, now I know what I'm getting for Xmas

Can't discuss pressies I'm buying as Mr T is on the forum, and so is Maoser the Tubemole  But if you need any help give me a shout, I'm decent enough as a present buyer.

I don't "celebrate" christmas, but I certainly celebrate with others and I'm happy for them, it's not a case where it'd conflict heavily on a religious viewpoint, so why frustrate others and myself? its what you do on the day that counts, just a nice peaceful moment you can relax, even if its just for a few hours that day.

I usually buy my family one gift each from around £20 to £40, I pick fun things since I don't think its very nice buying my mom a set of frying pans >_< poor lady does enough for me without an insulting gift like that...

Usually a DVD boxset, a game or something just out of reach that they couldn't normally buy, like I got my sister a designer bag on her birthday, something that'd be very expensive in the shops (£70+), very cheap on the internet (£35, real thing), she loved it.

I never know what to buy to my mother...
2 years ago bought an electrical blanket.
Last year I don't remember what was.

But this year I'm out of ideas :noidea: Any suggestion?

Joao, Tenebra rule #1 for presents: unless necessary, don't buy something useful. Money for useful things can always be found, in my opinion presents should be extras, lovely things that you'd feel guilty buying. It doesn't have to be expensive. An expensive hand cream that she wouldn't buy herself? Little things like that make you feel special :)

Getting gifts for foreigners is a pretty easy job for me.

Unless they've hinted at what they wants, it's usually some of the famous Belgian things depending on the person:

Chocolate and Praliné for Females,
Belgian beers for Males.

Though, I'm not a subtle guy..I tend to just ask what people want. xD

I don't think a frying pan is insulting! If you get the right kind, it would be amazing!

JoaoPT, what does your mom like doing in her free time?

@Tenebra: now you made me even more confused...:p

@Soop: having to work and a house to look after is quite time-consuming, but on her free time she likes watching TV. Besides she's in a choir.

Maybe a nice pair of comfortable slippers? That way she can keep her feet warm in the winter while she's watching TV with a cuppa :)

This watering can is nice too, I bought one for my mum, and she put flowers in it http://www.whatpossessedme.com/.a/6a0111688f7c55970c011570198fef970b-500wi (http://www.whatpossessedme.com/.a/6a0111688f7c55970c011570198fef970b-500wi)

I forgot to say she has an huge collection of flowers, both inside and outside :D She was flirting a very nice vase, but it was a little too expensive for a vase. I think I'll mix your advise with Tenebra's and next time I go to that shop I'll see if the vase is in there :)

Thanks folks :horray:
