BioShock PS3 DLC right now exclusive

Producer promises PS3-owners will be happy with the rest of the exclusive content.

2K Games has denied the exclusive content developed for the PS3 version of BioShock will be made available for the Xbox 360.

The PS3 exclusive DLC, called Challenge Rooms, will be made available after the launch of the game on October 24, and will supplement a new survivor difficulty mode and exclusive Trophy support.

During Leipzig Games Convention last week we caught up with 2K Games senior producer Melissa Miller and asked her if the exclusive content will also come out on 360.

She said: Right now we are supporting the PS3 launch. We are really excited to be bringing the BioShock experience to a whole new set of fans. Weve been concentrating on ways to make this game special. The things that weve added, theyre not changing the original experience that the 360 fans and the PC fans got, but are things that compliment nicely that experience.

When asked if that answer meant no, Miller replied: The answer is no. Right now this is a PS3 exclusive.

During Leipzig, Miller demoed only one of the exclusive Challenge rooms, called Shocking Turn of Events, which charges players with rescuing a Little Sister from a malfunctioning Ferris Wheel using limited tools made available to them.

While Miller couldnt reveal any information about any of the other Challenge Rooms, or indeed any of the PS3 exclusive add-on content, she did have this message for PS3-owners: I think youll be happy, I can tell you that much!

With the game due out late October, we suspect well find out sooner rather than later what 2K Games has up its sleeve.

BioShock PS3 dev: Blu-ray hasnt made much difference

Reiterates graphics goal is to be as good as on 360.

Sonys Blu-ray technology hasnt made much difference to the upcoming PS3 version of stupendously great 360 and PC FPS BioShock, the games associate producer has told VideoGamer.com.

BioShock, originally released for 360 and PC late in 2007, is scheduled for release on PS3 in Europe on October 24, and will come with a new survivor difficulty mode and exclusive downloadable content in the form of Challenge Rooms.

PS3 owners had hoped for some form of graphical upgrade, however, senior producer at publisher 2K Games Melissa Miller confirmed to us at the Leipzig Games Conference last week that the team was aiming towards graphical parity with the 360 version, and that the Blu-ray format hadnt made much difference.

She said: Graphical quality our goal was always to make sure everything looked just as good as on Xbox 360. So there was never anybody who could say, hey, why didnt I get this on 360 originally, because I dont feel like its up to the visual quality. Were just trying to make sure that everybody is happy.

When asked if the Blu-ray format had provided any advantages to the development team, Miller replied: In terms of specific things, it hasnt made much difference. The original game fit on a 360 disk so it wasnt like we were in need of room. Weve tried to do what we can to make sure that the PS3 looks just as great as the 360, but in terms of necessarily utilising something specific about Blu-ray, to my knowledge, Blu-ray hasnt necessarily made a huge difference.

Millers comments reinforce what she herself told us at E3 in Los Angeles in July, just in case you were in doubt.

Im not convinced that its worth buying again at full price. I will pick it up cheaper 2nd hand at a later date.

A backup if you have both consoles. That aside, challenge rooms dont appeal to me at all, meaningless gameplay additions.

In other words which none of them would be saying or would even try to say is We want to make money from the both consoles, by adding some extra conetent to lock the audiences ;)

Did Take 2 spend their time doing absolutely sweet FA on this other then a port I remember the talk of better graphics but I guess that was too hard even tho this has been in works for ages.

They only anounced it feb/march time i think.

At least the port is on par with the 360 version as many ports are terrible compred to the 360 counterparts.

They were probably developing this at the same time as the PC & 360 versions so even if they added a few small graphical improvements I would have not really have bothered to say anything against it.

probably being the devine question.

So we dont know as any one can say probably this probably that.

But does it realy matter if it looks better than the 360 version or not? At least its on par which it better than most ports out their

Whats really disappointing is that there was so much content cut from the original version, and none of it is making its way to this new version. Challenge Rooms just arent interesting enough, in my opinion.

When i finally get a PS3, i may get this version if it is going cheap.

Add-on content. It seems I have missed something. Not very clearly put, at any rate.
