let's talk about this new game by the creators of the best seller game Guitar Hero!

are Daft Punk the only reason to buy this game or it really has great potential?

Its actually a really fun game. I got it yesterday and was playing it most of the night. There are some great mash ups of some songs that you necessarily would not listen to or like normally. There is a remix of a mc hammer and vanilla ice songs and it actually is not as bad as it should be. There is a wide variety of music from all genres in the game. There are not many songs I like individually on the game but as mash ups they are so much better.

is the game challenging? is that controller easy to use or it needs some time to master?

has someone also played Beatmania IIDX? what are your impressions between the Konami game and the Activision one?

so many questions, but i'm really interested in this game, and i'm thinking of buying it for Christmas :D

I would say it is challenging you have 5 levels of difficulty beginner where you just have to press any button in time. Easy incorparates having to press the correct button in time and also scratching. medium add the cross fade to the mix. hard and expert and a few extras like cross fade spikes which are fast cross fades and scratching in the right direction it asks you to.

You have a euphoria button which is like star power in guitar hero to be used after hitting every action in a highlighted section. Extras to put your personal touch include an effects knob to be used at certain points bit like the whammy bar and rewind where you spin the turntable back and redo a section for a bigger bonus.

The controller itself takes a bit of time to get used to it. the hit box seems slightly tighter than guitar hero or rockband. Once you get to grips with it works really well and can be set up for either left or right handers and either side of the deck so it gives you more room if needed. I love my music games and have had rock band & guitar hero and so far this is my favourite.

Where as in the other games you pick out the tracks you like and are gutted when you have to play the songs you don't like DJ hero is different in that even though you might not like the songs chosen song you might like and will want to hear what has been done with it. Although the Jay Z tracks get on my nerves but I can't stand any of his normal songs.

Challenging hmmm .... Well, i have it for 3 days now and got 775 G of 1000. 5 more achievements to finish, but its gonna be hard. 5 stars on all songs on hard - ok not that "hard", but 5 stars on expert is gonna take a while lol.

Need to do 300 combo on expert, which is easy in the 3rd song of "create setlist ". 5 stars on Hard and Expert, then the mic/headset thing and 2 turntable controllers in a local game ( lol.... none of my friends has got the game so i think i cant do it ).

Very cool game, lovin the remixes, but its a bit short. Totally worth the money tho.

i got suckered into the hype and went out and bought it, if you like music games like I do its a real fresh approach to getting into the genre and not just another guitar/drum/singing game

easy to learn, difficult to master. One good thing about it is that you cant actually fail any songs so you can be terrible and still complete the game! Also you can finally finish a song with 1 or 2 stars, something that you cant do in rock band or any of the million guitar hero games

oh and one bad thing....theres an achievement for 1 point which messes up your gamerscore unless your good enough to beat any song on hard with a 5 star rating to get the extra 4 more points.....which Im not :(

Hehe :D Try the 1st song in "create setlist" or grandmaster flash´s Button Tap - really easy.

I got the 300 combo on Expert today ^^, tryin to get 5* on hard now, but some songs will take a lot of practice, even tho most of em are not that hard tho master. Awesome game, cant stop playin it til i completely beat it XD

sorry if i bump this old thread, but i found DJ Hero at 99€, but i discovered that with the same money i could buy Beatmania IIDX controller + game from japan (and i could play it with a PS2 emulator on PC...i won't buy a jap PS2 only for only one game)
so my question is: is DJ so user friendly and made for casual gamers?
i'm worried about difficulty, because i love hardcore rhythm games and i think DJ Hero is too easy (i'd like a game challenging like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwg1Nv4BhV0 )

I find it unlikely that DJ Heros periphial will be used for more than just its own game and possible sequels but it wont last for more than a few years imo. Beatmania though has been around for donkeys so games will always be made for it
