View Full Version : Is anyone going to buy Tekken 6
If anyone is planning on buying Tekken 6 i have one piece of advice for you...........DONT!
I got it today and it is one of the most unbalanced games i have ever played! on arcade mode it is too easy until you get to the boss. Azazael is the cheapest boss ever. he can hit you a mile out of your range, he does like half your health bar with a single hit and takes prety much no damage when you hit him (oh and he can negate your damage at will). after discovering that simply mashing the punch button would beat him i decided to try the single player mode.
this proved to be a bigger mistake! it's DULL! it's death by degrees with a broken targeting system. mashing your way through waves of boring, generic enemies and only failing a mission because you have stayed locked on to a dead body does not make a fun game. seriously, after 6 great tekken games , how can they get this one so wrong!

Tekken 5 was a bit like that.
It had the stupid Jinpachi boss at the end, who seemed almost impossible to defeat for a while.
Hmm, Tekken 6 looks good, and Bryan or Eddie are probably my favourite characters, but I'm planning on waiting for the price to drop anyway.
Tekken 5 annoyed me a bit with Jinpachi, but then I like games to be immensely difficult, so that when you finally beat it, it feels rewarding.
So really, I don't think this would put me off.
To me, Tekken has really always been about unbalanced characters anyway. You have to develop a strategy for fighting every single different opponent.

yeah i got it today, kinda wish i didnt. might see if i can sweet talk someone at work so i can take it back and swap it for DJ hero....I dont know why but I really want to play that game

Probably because it has Daft Punk. :p
Doesn't it have DJ Tiesto on it as well? Looks good anyway. I just hate anything R&B or rap, so eminem on it sucks. I swear I saw him being advertised on it.
Electro is all it should be. ;)

is Tekken 6 that bad? ok, Tekken 3 is the best, followed by the 5th, but i didn't think T6 was that bad!
ok, the multi-level stages don't really match with Tekken style, but i thought they only added few characters and made new graphics for the old characters
maybe i'll buy T6 when the price will drop (a lot)
DJ hero....I dont know why but I really want to play that game
DAFT PUNK! no need for other words! :horray:

Lol Alien, I just said that! Maybe Daft Punk is like the most loved electronic artist in the world. :p
That's for Tekken, I thought Tekken 5 was the best. I liked Tekken 3, but probably because that was the only one that had Gon the farting lizard in. Rofl.

yeah I was really underwelmed by Tekken. I played it on 360 at MCM and thought it was good even though i lost 3 fights in a row (im well out of practice) I got the PS3 version cos my friends wanted to get it on that and that way i could fight them online. The fighting seems a bit slow and yeah theres the cheap as hell...erm...thing that you have to fight and it just hops about all over the place squashing you into the floor, firing lazers and a ton of things that look like bees. I got so annoyed with it i just turned it off and played ODST instead. got a vidmaster challenge done
Daft Punk seem to be mixed into every other song on DJ hero, which is no bad thing! Gorillaz are on there too and Im well into them. FEEL GOOD!
Eminem is on the game and his track (my name is) is mixed with a Jay-Z choon. theres even a Foo fighters song on there and you can hook up a guitar and mix that into the beats. man, this is making me want it even more!
CaptainCortez

Awesome points for putting in Gorillaz and the Foo Fighters, but no idea how they'd sound, mixed with other songs. :/
Is there any DJ Fresh on there, or MGMT? I mean they both have electro sounds.....or even Deadmau5 for that matter?
Mstrkrft and Prodigy would be awesome for it. Pendulum is harder to mix, I'd have thought.

i only saw the few tracks on the back of the box. let me have a search for the whole setlist
http://www.djhero.com/music/
holy crap i just saw Weezer are in the game! and Motorhead!
and theres even a mix of Vanilla Ice and MC Hammer....that should be EPIC!
CaptainCortez
30-10-09, 19:21
How fitting. It has an artist on it called "Zombies". :p
Some good stuff there though.
I'm not a huge fan of N.E.R.D. but I don't mind them. That's for the rest, well....I'm glad these are in it:
Daft Punk - Lots of it
DJ Shadow
Justice - Genesis. Awesome song, and AC2 used it for a trailer, as well.
Foreigner
Queen
Bowie - strange one to have
Tiesto - He is there, so that's awesome
No Doubt
Cheers for that, Chaos. Some pretty good stuff in there. :D
Edit: MC Hammer, haha. It's hammer time!

epic off-topic is epic :D
however i love No Doubt since Rock Steady, so i'm a huge fan of them!
DJ Hero surely looks and sounds great, but i don't know, since the beginning i thought of it as a commercial clone of Beatmania IIDX with licensed songs
in BM IIDX there were artists as NAOKI (with RED ZONE [gosh i love that song]) or Tatsh (with another awesome track -> Xepher), but only hardcore gamers really liked it, even because in heavy mode it was hard as hell
DJ Hero seems to be easier but more commercial..anyway, i'll wait to try it to say it
oh, i'm opening a new thred about DJ Hero, so we can talk about that there and keep talking about Tekken 6 here ;)

Got mine on Wednesday. Core gameplay wise (ie the fighting) it's not too bad. Originally when it came out on the arcades I HATED the Bound system. I still sort of do but I'm used to it now.
The Scenario Campaign isn't great but it's not the worst thing ever. I personally find it better than that horrid Devil Within mode in Tekken 5. I hear a lot of complaints about falling over the edge...that happened to me 3 times the entire time I played through the campaign and that was in the same stage. Didn't bother me that much. You guys obviously stick around to the edge too much then.
The idea of Arena in Scenario mode is silly. They should have included prologues and endings in standard Arcade mode, it's uneccessary to put it in SC mode with only 4 stages.
Loading times are god awful without the install (on PS3). Still could be improved though.
They really need to sort out the customisation stuff. They're simply too expensive and usually not that cool either. Totally pointless to have seperate colour items. Just give us a colour palette instead!
As for online....it's rubbish to say the least. I keep playing it in hopes I get a really smooth game. Oh how rare that is.
Lastly, Miguel is awesomely awesome. Yeah!
Edit: Oh, Azazel is cheap but most Tekken bosses were, who cares? Just play cheap back. It usually works. And because he's so massive you can carry on doing repetative juggles. For example, with Miguel, soon as Azazel is launched/bound, I just keep to do 1,2,1,2,1,2...for a little bit. It doesn't carry normal characters for long but Azazel isn't normal. You could always try jump kicking them if you're not that comfortable with juggling yet.

i would do that but he just seems to block every attack i throw at him. I hate blocking with a passion, its a FIGHTING game who stands there like a coward whining please dont hit me! my pretty polygon face might get hurted!

I'm guessing you don't play fighting games competatively, right? You have to learn to defend or you won't get very far from your polygon face being slammed on the ground every 5 seconds.
Like I said, with Azazel just repeat whatever seems to work. He might block it normally but then he falls for it. Also, I personally find the Arena Azazel is harder than Arcade mode (both default difficulty). But yeah, rinse and repeat. Be cheap. If you have to Phoenix Smaher your way to victory, go for it.

I just got Tekken 6 yesterday and was in HMV 2day 2 enter a tournament, the game is mint, unfortunately I lost the tournament 2 some n00b who only seems to know how 2 do one combo, over and over again.
Its a definite buy for me, but ill wait till the price drops.
The main reason why i want tekken 6 is that i dont have a tekken game, i played it a lot of tekken few years ago on ps1(tekken 2,3)and its my favourite fighting franchise(yeah, i know, SF and stuff but tekken was first :))
tekken 3 and five are among my favorite fighting games but there are just two many faults in 6. I will agree that in offline two player mode it is as good as it ever was, but there are just too many crippling flaws in the rest of the game. the broken targeting system in campaign mode, the cheap bosses and the tiny illegable text to name but a few. it has moments of real charm (like knocking the sheep around in the field stage) but it's hampered by things that a company like namco should be well above!

i think the game is better when you play with a friend cause there is a sort of rivalry thing going on.
*Puts fingers in ears*
BLAHBLAHBLAHICAN'THEARYOU
I intend on getting it for Christmas, if a demo comes out and puts me off it then I'll get Operation Flashpoint, Brutal Legend or something, but if not then I'm sure I'll manage.
Unbalanced games=greater challenge. ;)
I got it on the European release, and personally, I'm very underwhelmed.
I thought that was going to be THE fighting game next to Street Fighter IV, but I guess the hype is mostly from TFG's (The Fighters Generation) host who's a die-hard Tekken Fanboy.
The reason why I don't like it, is probably because everyone online is really good at it and I'm not.
I'm not a sore loser, but losing 10 times before my first ranked win really got my ego bruised....and I don't think it's because of the character, because I remember being able to dish out some good things with Heihachi in Soul Calibur 2 on the PS2....
As a Fighting games enthousiast, at least I bought the game.
Now don't expect me to put it back in my Xbox anytime soon.

I dont play competatively but I still play alot of beat em ups, Dead or alive, street fighter, smash bros, UFC, Bleach, Naruto, Rumble Roses....I could go on but Im kinda scraping the barrell as it is
Its just Ive always hated blocking and I think you shouldnt just be allowed to sit there in the corner with your arms over your chest and ducking down while someone just pummels your face but does no damage. I think they should put a guard break move in there, get 3 hits while blocking and then you cant do it for a bit resulting in a tastey button mashing death. I think DOA has go system where its more about countering instead of just being a wimp and backing off all the time

There's a Guard Damage option...they've been in Tekken for years now. Most people don't use it though.
It's called "turtling". Lots of people play that way or shift to that style at times. Most people end up using throws to punish them since low hits tend to be slow.
Counters/parries/reversals exist in Tekken. Just not everything for everyone. You have to learn the character(s) to get better. It applies to most games.
Jarlino: Heihachi in SCII was pretty strong for a reason. No weapon. They weren't going to make him rubbish. A lot of people's wins came from the fact he did some very good damage without any weapon. Saying that, he's still good in Tekken 6. He's always been decent. Funny thing is, I used him yesterday and a lot of the old commands don't work. Oh well, I'm too busy using Miguel, Leo, Lee and Kazuya to care about Heihachi for now.
Back to Azazel, here's an example of how easy he was to beat with Paul: Launch, jab a few times, then do his unblockable. Azazel LAY on the floor and took it straight in the foot. Yes. That's how easy it is. He doesn't even get up! How nice of him.
I really don't get it, lots of people moaned about Seth in SFIV as well. All you had to do was jump kick (timed) him to oblivion...not the most fun but if you want an easy win, that was one of the easiest methods.

I like a challege as much as the next person but theres cheap then theres cheap then theres new boss characters in beat em ups. I hated Seth too as he can keep doing his hoover move over and over, just makes me want to cut his face off. I hate having to resort to cheap moves like down and kick (old mortal kombat cheapness) to beat something but if it has to be done...
Im gonna keep the game but maybe just play it online.

Ew. Online is pure horrible. I play it in hopes of a good, smooth match. Maybe when pigs fly (which they do in Tekken once you smack them one...ugh).

Got it the other day and I love it. I really, really love it. Getting used to the controls again will take a bit of time, haven't played Tekken in such a long time. :D
Azazel wasn't a problem, I honestly found the previous battles much harder than him. I just rushed him and tried not to let him get any hits in. I'm just glad he wasn't as bad as some of the end bosses in other fighting games. D:
Tekken 5 was a bit like that.
It had the stupid Jinpachi boss at the end, who seemed almost impossible to defeat for a while.
Ah, Jinpachi. He almost cost me my PS2 controller. He was evil. :p
Playing through Scenario Campaign at the moment. It's not bad, it can get pretty frustrating, especially when Alisa falls off the edge, I've yet to do that myself though. The cutscenes and storyline keep it interesting though.
Online isn't bad so far. I've only played around 10 matches but most of them played pretty well. Some had no lag whatsoever. I'll need to play loads more matches to judge that though.

I have PS3 version and 360 version
Battle me sometime. I'm a Jin player and I like his 2nd outfit so I'll be using that.
I was tempted to buy the Collector's Edition (not the one with the arcade stick which is utterly trash) but after reading your opinions, I'm waiting for a price drop or maybe a used copy. :chin:

A friend bought it yesterday on box, we wanted to play campaign mode but for some odd reasons theres no co-op mode and a patch which comes later in november will only make it online available.
Its a good campaign mode, easy gamerscore, online is HARD lag, and arcade mode is hell. Id give it a 6/10, but the campaign mode is much fun and with the online co-op i think it will make people playin it over and over again.
campaign mode is broken. the targeting system is the most poorly concieved thing on the plannet. local multiplayer is wicked though.
Well, I've bought it since my PS3 needs a decent fighter and the only other thing I have is Soul Calibur 4 (ironically).
I've been a fan of the Tekken series since Tekken 3, excellent title I still own on my shelf somewhere, I missed out on the PS2 titles, but I've bought this with a great amount of faith in its latest incarnation.
I've played it, and it really isn't button mashing from what I've seen, it needs a bit more attention to get a fluid combo going, It's got a feel of Virtua Fighter 5 about it if I'm being perfectly honest, not just in the explicit use of rankings but also its feel and overall design, minus the wacky bounding system.
Its a game I'll need explicit practice with before I can honestly say its good or bad, but right now I'm in a spot where my next playthrough would judge if I wanted to play it again.

My friend n me got 1000GS last night in tekken 6 ( his xbox ), 9hours 31min 10 sec ( u can check time in game ). Now its my turn to 1000GS it, will be done on weekend :D
Well, campaign mode is actually a lot of fun. I hope there will be DLC´s which add new stages etc to it and when the patch is out the co-op campaign will be even more fun.
i hope not! i have just done the ganryu stage and i found it to be the most frustrating thing in the world. i wasn't failing because i was bad, i was failing because the tageting sytem is BROKEN! however multiplayer is wicked. taught my mate a lesson about button bashing tonight. lol.

Definintely a very underwhelming package. A bit disappointed.
Though, online is no where near as bad as people are saying it is. I've only played about five matches and in only ONE of them I've noticed some minor input lag.
I'm using Miguel too but I may start using Zafina as well - her movements and animations are stunning.

i took it to my friends house to try and off load it onto her but she told me to keep it then went and bought her own copy
multiplayer is good when your sitting next to the person your beating or lossing too
the new characters are quite good. i'm a fan of leo (all though he's not good enought to tempt me away from kazuya and baek) i would like to know what thier back stories are but the screen text in story mode is too small to read. and i've got a 48 inch screen on my tv. sooooooooo much fun in local multiplayer though i havent tried online yet so cant pass judgement. given everything else that is fundimentally wrong with the game though, my hopes aren't high.

Haha as i said i started to play it on my own xbox this weekend, and in a playtime of 5:34 hours i only miss 6 more achievements :D So easy to 1000 the game.
