GC 08: Microsoft teases revised d-pad
Improved d-pad turns out to be limited edition
Rumours spreading that a version of the 360 controller with a much improved d-pad have been revealed to be little more than a limited edition version for Pro Evo 2009.
The grim looking green controller features a d-pad with 32 direction support and is much more responsive and loose, but is otherwise identical to the traditional controller.
However, rather than being a universal improvement for all controllers, the new d-pad has been designed with Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 in mind, but will also come in handy for Street Fighter IV.
The controllers with the improved d-pad have been confirmed for release as promotional items in Europe, Asia and Latin America, but why Microsoft are choosing not to roll out the d-pad into all controllers is beyond us.
The limited edition controller will be available on October 24th until stocks run out, so if you re looking forward to Pro Evo or more importantly Street Fighter IV, it might be wise to grab a pre-order while you can, or hope that Microsoft eventually see the error of their ways.
Or at least release a version that isn t uglier than the Halo 3 Special Edition pads.
