Genesis:

We can clearly say that The Missions are non-canon, but what about CR and Genesis?

Ive got CR2 on my phone, and really cant tell if it would be canon to the series or not. In general id say that the CR games arent canon at all, but this is purely out of opinion.

As for Genesis though, i havent played it and cant tell if it is canon or not.

Hmm, id say that CR is non canon, since the nemesis is fought, the existing 3 nemesis have all been accounted for, although there is supposedly a character connection (the cops last name is the same as a character in RE-Outbreak) but this is probably just a coincidence.

Ive played both 3D and 2D versions of The Missions, both are non-canon for sure.

And id really love to try Genesis, im just hoping my phone provider brings it out pretty soon.

Ah, i didnt know about the appearance of Nemesis. So i guess we can certainly count out the Confidential Reports.

So all we now need is information on Genesis...

The Wikipedia entry is certainly lacking somewhat on information about Genesis, and i only discovered it today...so im wondering where we can get more information on it??

IGN has a review:

And a video:

The review was good, but the video made the game seem laughable at best.

Id say, unless it gives us new information that doesnt contradict anything weve learnt already...its non-canon.

True, from what I can see its before the mansion incident, to have the T-Virus (or any other virus) cause an incident prior to that is unlikely at best.

From what i gathered, it is suppossed to be the mansion incident...thats what i got from the information anyway.

Though it being set beforehand would explain the absence of Chris...

Ah, so it is, but my Mobile Phone is not on the list.

I was just wondering, why do fans decide which games are canon and which aren t?
Shouldn t Capcom be able to create stories that don t contradict each other?
Or at least say which stories are no part of the real Resident Evil storyline?

Obviously a lot of it is all opinion based...on the fans part anyway.

Developers often do announce what is canon, and what isnt...but Capcom have very little care for anything beyond the main titles.

They let other people work on the side stories, or they just get them out as quick as possible without any care for whether they contradict other games in the series.

It is at this point that the fanbase has to figure it out for themselves.

You mean it s like... one man s trash is another man s treasure?

*shrugs*

I guess, if you want to put it that way.

We are called fans for a reason (fan = fanatic). A game series or company cannot exist without the fanbase...if we werent still sat at our computers, talking about the games, then Capcom would probably be out of business.

So it isnt really Capcoms trash as otherwise it would have been a dead series by now (pun not intended).

You can make money with trash, if you re good at selling it...

It s just somehow strange. It feels almost like the interpretation of a novel (or anything else) sometimes. I really hated things like that and thought that the author surely didn t think about writings as much as I had to in school. In the case of these games we sometimes even know that the creators don t care very much, but still go on about it. You know what I mean?
