View Full Version : Art for Matt's Lost Descendant
I don't really have as much time to create personal art as I'd like to, as I'm too busy with my studio work. But every now and then, I try and get get some art done, and this is my latest painting of a fictional character for Matt's upcoming novel.
Hope you like it.

Without a doubt mate this is the best picture you've drawn for me by far!
I love it I've even made it my desktop image :D
Just to add a bit more information to Clay's picture.
The girl's name is Charlene Nash and she is using a technique called 'Letvir Vatra' or in english 'Butterfly Fire'

Lol you got the idea of the name and last name from Charlie/Nash, two names used in Street Fighter right?
She looks like Yuri (SSF4) in casual clothes.
No, Charlene Nash is actually a combination of two artists I like. :)
But thanks, guys! Glad you like it.

That's awesome, man. ;)
I really wanted to improve my artwork, but have just kinda given up, as I really need to be shown how to do it. Reading things on the internet doesn't actually help me that much. :(
I'm not trying to advertise my stuff, but my DA is http://dante365.deviantart.com
It has some original artwork from my head on there, but if you had some tips Clay, or even video tutorials, it would really help.
I can't pro colour or anything, and really don't know how to even blend or work out lighting or anatomy properly. Plus, I either have a permanent artistic block, or I just suck in general, as I can't ever imagine what I want to draw. The images in my head aren't vivid enough for me to.
I guess I just let my hand do whatever it wants to, and then see what comes out at the end.
I'm really good at drawing things which already exist, but from my head, it really is hard, so any pointers that could possibly help would be awesome, if you have time.
Anyway, I've probably highjacked the topic with off topic randomness, but feel free to pm me, if that's cool? If you're too busy, no worries.
Keep up the awesome work though. I love it! :D
ta! :)
First of all, don't worry too much about going a wee bit off topic in these threads [as long as they're relevant to art in general]. We're pretty casual here in Creative, and it's really all about showing your work and giving critique. Besides, I'm only here to help anyway. [Plus, helping you might be help to others as well]
Looking at your Deviant art page, I'm not really sure where to begin [not in a offensive bad way!]. I think it would help me a lot if you could tell me what you would like to achieve within what timeframe, or specific a future goal you have.
ie, what type of art do you wish to focus on to begin with? What tools do you prefer to use/would like to improve in? What is fun to you to make?
By the way, if anyone else feels similar CaptainCortez and would like some pointers, I could always open a new sticky thread for this. Capcom Europe Art Class, anyone?

Capcom Europe art class. Sounds good! ;)
Well really I've always wanted to create something from my head that looks good, and is almost anatomically perfect.
I've really wanted to get as good as this guy: http://adonihs.deviantart.com
I know I can't ever be, but I love drawing, and if I could produce highly detailed artwork, then I'd feel the need to draw more. It'd work to self motivate me, I guess.
The main things I'd really love to learn are how to colour like a pro (what you do), and get anatomy and/or perspective down to a tee, as I feel these are the necessary starting points.
I mean you can see that I can draw, as I have some drawing son my DA page, but I struggle to make stuff up from my head (the only good thing from my head was a puppeteer on there, which I named Voodox).
I'd like to be able to produce artwork to a similar style of Street Fighter to begin with, and then maybe press on from there. I just have some incredibly annoying invisible wall stopping me, it feels.
Originally, right from when I was 15/16 I wanted to design characters for computer game companies, but having not really progressed much, and gone more in the way of doing media in school/college than art, I haven't been able to progress this, and certainly haven't seen how anyone really blends colours, or works out anatomy.
So I guess those are my personal goals. ;)
Thanks a lot Clay.
