View Full Version : Advice on Peripherals.
I've yet to get SF4 but it was always one of those games I wanted but there was always one game that I wanted more. I figure I might as well wait for SSF4 instead now, and I also plan on buying Tekken 6, so I'd like to get ahead of the game and suss out what stick/pad I should get.
First things first, are the peripherals(for 360) region protected in any way?
Also, has anyone tried the Madcatz SF4 fightpads and are they any good? It seems to me like a cheap alternative and is kinda handy since I don't have too much space. However is it any better than a regular controller?
Is the Fightstick particularly heavy? Since I'd be using it on my lap, it's kind of important for it to be an okay weight to not be too heavy, but ot so light that I hurl it across the room when I flick the stick.
Other alternatives?

No

I don't know the fightpad but there are top players using a pad so it's up to you. Maybe you can go to a big game store and try one out?

Well i've the MadCatz Fightstick. Its weight? A big book :) And it's big. Paper Size A4.
YOu can try to play with the keyboard.
Coool. I haven't actually seen anywhere that sells the fightpads, I've only seen them online from the US. I could probably manage to use a normal controller but a fightstick would be awesome. I think I could manage the Madcatz fightstick. And a keyboard is out of the question. Top-notch for first-person shooters, but I couldn't use one for a fighting game.
Personally, I made a switch from pad to stick and I'm loving it. Unlike a pad, most sticks are very similar so you'll get used to one. Personally, I don't like the Fightpads. The buttons don't respond after a while but there isn't any other choice other than custom made pads for the 360. I would say just hope for a PC release of SSFIV and get a Saturn pad for it (only under £15 on Ebay). Definately the best one to get out there for fighting games.
I have a TE Stick got just recently it will get some time to get use to it but you will be better off in the long run and the fightpad are good also using the saturn design so I don't get that point anyway it's good weight not too heavy ot too light

The madcats pads are supposed to be fun but unreliable, players who loved the saturn pads insist there not as good. It has also broken on many of the guys on the site till it's beyond repair.
My advice would be to buy a stick, te if your dedicated se if your not as dedicated. you can pick em up on ebay for about £50.
Bear in mind the transition from pad to stick isnt an easy one, my advice is to go cold turkey for two weeks and not touch a pad during that time and put as many hours into playing as possible this page on event hubs will help you.

I have to point out that after about two months you wont want or be able to go back to a pad.
