60GB Xbox 360 launches in UK on Friday
Will carry the same œ199.99 retail price as the 20GB model it will replace.
Microsoft today announced that it is increasing the storage capacity of the original Xbox 360 console from 20GB to 60GB, tripling the storage users will have for demos, videos and full game installs.
The new 60GB Xbox 360 will be available across the UK from August 15 at no extra cost - œ199.99.
No one device offers the depth and breadth of entertainment that Xbox 360 can deliver and we know consumers need increasingly more and more space to store the amazing digital entertainment content we provide, said Neil Thompson, Senior Regional Director, Entertainment and Devices Division, Microsoft Ltd. Now the Xbox 360 has triple the space to house all your entertainment needs at no extra cost.
The 60GB model will include a wireless controller, headset, Silver Xbox LIVE membership and a one month subscription to the full Gold service. The price of the Arcade and Elite models remain at œ159.99 and œ259.99 respectively.
Already out in the US Microsoft are now bringing it to europe

I heard about this in one of my mags...im kind of annoyed that i spent œ200+ on my 360, and i get one of the worst versions available.
The worst thing is, if i bought myself a new 360 (60gb) or an Elite, id have to fork out for a memory card so i could transfer my details and save games accross.
Its getting ridiculous now.
yes it is rediculous
But if you do get a new one you could alway get the free data transfer kit

Heard about this, wouldnt bother me if the Hard Drive was being sold separate and at a reasonable price.
The 120GB Hard Drive is œ130 in places, that over œ1 per GB, they should have given Xbox 360 owners the right to use their own Hard Drives with their consoles.

That would envolve a games company doing something worthwhile for their customers.

*imagines using a terabyte hard drive on the 360*
*drools*
Sony wasnt afraid of giving PS3 owners the right to use their own Hard Drives, its a relatively simple procedure to fit a new drive and the PS3 will detect it and format it for you as well, although with the drive being 2.5 instead of 3.5 you could probably only go as high as 320GB, but its better than the 40GB that is currently in there.

Ill pass thanks, glossy dust magnets stll suck. If they made white Elites Id MAYBE consider urinating 120 + GBP trading my old noisy POS Xblox for a overhyped console.

Just, right.
60 GB (which are even more likely to have a 65 nm chip than the Elite ones, btw.) vs. 120 GB, price - value just got even more (original pricing; price reduction; HDMI slot) out of balance.
That being said, I dont see a problem with the various SKUs. Theres basically three. And theyre not all that different. In essence: no HDD; 60 GB; black, 120 GB, headset, HDMI cable.
The only changes so far were the addition of an HDMI slot and a larger HDD, as far as I remember. The most important changes are hard to track, though, and affect the reliablity of the (standard) hardware. Determining a 65nm chipped console isnt that easy, provided that people know about it to begin with - and thats just one aspect.

Every new console produced will have the 65 nm chip, i bought my elite last winter, i dont have the 65 nm chip in it, but the new Elite generation will have em.
And if u look at the stand alone price of the 120gb the Elite is even more worth it. But thats just my opinnion.

old Premium 20GB HDD
new Premium 60GB HDD

with only 4 on sale from friday till the 20GBHDD version sells out.
The different SKUs are not a problem for the educated gamer but for some one buying for the first time who are not clude up it can be confusing.

Three as a standard.

Exactly. I assume all the 60 GB ones will have one. For Elites people would still have to check. I heard there will probably be another (standard) hardware revision some time this year. Perhaps the 60 GB ones are, in some way, already affected.
true 3 as standerd but 5 in total
we hardware revisions happen through out a console life span so it is possible the 60GB version may have one.

If it was an actual question wouldnt there be do they/will they instead of they will and a question mark at the end of the sentence?
