if they are i would buy it in a second!
but i don't think they are. it would be pretty useless just to walk around a place like racoon city talking to people and maybe stumbling across a zombie or two.

if they do end up making an mmorpg it wont be in the near future,
they already said the next resident evil would be a reboot.

Yes, they would have to figure out something more appealing. Not sure what :chin:

Oh dear lord no.

Resident Evil doesn't fit the RPG style...it just doesn't work.

Now, a MMO version of Outbreak could be ok, but after a while you have to wonder how fitting thousands of people into an Outbreak scenario would work?

Storyline wise, it couldn't be done without a global outbreak. So it'd have to be non-canon for it to work...which would be pointless in the end.

It'd be better to just make an MMO that has its own storyline, own Universe, own background, and own characters, than just base it off RE because RE has Zombies...

-Shakes head-

I've seen this spring up a few times, my thoughts are as follows...

A large number of people COULD occupy only Raccoon city, however, the vast majority would make zombies on top of that unrealistic, it would have to take place on a larger scale, which would certainly screw with the canon and story.

Next would be what all MMORPGs suffer from, over levelled characters, it's not exactly survival horror when an armoured special-ops space marine wielding two enchanted shotguns mows down 90 zombies and 9 tyrants.

Core elements of the MMORPG would be non-existant, they have shops in most MMORPGs, I suppose you could have shops in an RE MMORPG but pay with what? where would the variety be? you couldn't be anything other than part of the armed services or a civilian which are practically the same in terms of gameplay, I suppose you could play as an infected human but thats hardly going to be social, is it? Can you imagine a group of zombie players sharpening their teeth and talking about strategy? when one yells "LEEEEEROY JEEEEENKINS!" and stumbles out the door?

RE was intended AS a survival horror, not an MMORPG, Outbreak defined one of the highest points this could possibly get to without being silly.

Actually I had ideas along these lines. But rather than playing as survivors, I was thinking of people playing as zombies. Experience equates to the amount of time spent infected, meaning you 'evolve' into other types of zombies and the idea is that you go out and kill/infect the living. Although there is close to no story in there whatsoever and would make barely any sense, it would be on of those things that I'd like to see.

But playing as Ganados or Majini could work. They can communicate and use weaponry, etc. But then the setting is a problem since during the course of RE4 about 6 non-Ganados are seen. Although Kijuju could work.

EDIT: In the mean time though, this could suffice...
