Games :p

gaming memrobelia, T-shirts, figures ect

limited edittion things like the chainsaw resi 4 controller

books

the new comics for DMC and Resi

Game music CDs, downloads

Game downloads of old capcom games and maybe download of PC games

PC demos

Capcom shop exclusive off special edition games (to encurage using the online shop)

Maybe the shop can offer none credit card owning people the chance to have a capcom post office card to pay and the acceptance of postall orders and cheques. The above will need to pay befor the order is shipped as payment cant be varifyed beforhand like credit cards.

Paypal would be an easier option. That way you could pay with a debit card. :)

Subscriptions if your planning to sell comics would be nice too. Maybe setting up a monthly direct debit. ;)

Maybe imported items too, like Art books. :d

Maybe Udon releases aswell as the DC comics, they (seem to) always do a yearly Street Fighter book.

- The stuff that is already available in shops...such as figures, games, t-shirts, wallets, etc

- Stuff that is only available in Japan...such as OSTs, replica weapons, etc, etc

- Limited Edition items that are exclusive to forum members

- Subscriptions to the comics would be nice

- Access to POS would be excellent...so the chance to buy the promotional posters, banners, or cardboard cutouts for various games

And, for the love of god, dont do things in a limited quantity as some people have to save up for the big things...and generally by the time they have the money, they are out of print or out of stock

Perhaps offer us the chance of getting signed things aswell? A piece of Resi artowrk signed by the games creators would be really nice...

Not necessarily for people with no internet access, also for people who dont have a credit card or a Paypal account :)

You have to keep in mind a lot of the stuff you guys want is either more easily available at a specialised shop (comic books, figures) or even cheaper. Exclusives are better geared for a possible shop.

TZM: I understand your point on not making things limited but, for items like toys a lot of people actually resort to places like Forbidden Planet. Not even import but actually go to their local comic shop. Chances are if they stocked too much, Capcom would be losing money from lack of sales so slightly limited would be better. Its probably better to stock a good amount and re-order later, otherwise theres just a pile of stuff not shifting. Specialist shops are just better at shifting more of them. I think you know more on it than I do since you worked in a comic book shop before, right...? Or am I mixing you up with someone else...?

If comic books were to be stocked, I personally wouldnt really pay much more than the US$ to œ rate as I pretty much get my stuff for that as it is. The maximum price they should be set at is something along the lines of Forbidden Planet which, I find over priced but people still buy from them. Toys, statues etc should not follow their prices tough as these tend to be seriously over priced! I got my DMC3 Dante statue for œ40 off Play-Asia. FP sold it for œ60+.

Art books and soundtracks would be cool. Though Ive kind of backed away from buying them lately, I still do ocassionally think about it. Still need to get round to getting UDONs SF art book....oops.

Thats a pretty neat idea.

Who are you?

Read the back good sir!

Rie-you....

...if you like it that way...

hehe, yeah, day dreaming rocks.

Speaking of clothes, a good idea would be to stock possible future, officially licensed replica garments. RE4 had a whole selection and DMC2 (yeah, yeah not the greatest game) had its fair share too. Mind you, theyre always expensive.

It would be very nice if limited bundles (say, Monster Hunter 2G etc) could get released exclusively through the store. You wouldnt be allowed to directly sell a Japanese version would you? So making a localised bundle (with same design/branded PSP, DS etc included) exclusive to the online store would definitely attract some people. Actually, to make things easier, something like the Square Enix Products Store (Japanese) or Konami Style would be ideal. The US version isnt bad either considering its still quite new.

How would shipping be? Restricted to EU only? Expensive? I remember the US store used to charge like $100 for shipping to (I think it was) Mexico!

I want a Rockman ...err Megaman DS lite with the next ZX game.
Bundles are a good idea.
And a NES cartridge version of Megaman 9. Ok, now I m probably daydreaming too...

edit:
You could also sell reprints of older games. I think there were all Devil May Cry games available at the US shop recently I think.I don t know if that s possible, but for example the Megaman Zero games for gba could be sold like this (btw please excuse that i keep coming up with megaman, but i m too lazy to think of something else right now).
In the case of Zero 1 I heard a lot of people complaining about a drained battery when they buy it from ebay that s why I thought of this now.

I doubt capcom would extra localise games just to sell it in the store. Didnt they get rid of the import ban already?

It shouldnt be a huge deal really. SE recently did it again with the Crisis Core PSP (slight differences, but only slight). Maybe a little bit of a hassle but it does work. The Crisis Core PSP, Subarashiki Kono Sekai DS, MGS4 PS3, Pok‚mon DS etc etc. The first two werent site exclusive though. Anyway, site exclusives exist and tend to do alright. Konami do tons of Konami Style exclusives for bigger games. Beatmania IIDX, Persona, MGS etc etc. In fact, almost all the major players do or did this at some point. SE Products, Konami Style, Sega Direct.

Price wise Id pay relative to wherever else I can get it (Play-Asia, YesAsia etc). Figure/statue wise they can range from œ10-œ100+. Normal action figures are cheap. Real Action Heroes dolls are not.

I was going to suggest clothing with forum IDs printed on them...but thought id be laughed off the forum. But yeah, now that i see that others are actually interested in the idea, ill support it as well. For a specially printed T-shirt, i wouldnt pay more than œ15, depending on how much went into it (eg, if i got my avatar on the T-shirt as well, i might pay a little more).

For the normally available things (OSTs, figures, games, merchandise) id pay around the same amount id pay anywhere else, perhaps a little bit extra due to the source being a little more reliable.

For signed artwork or something similar, i guess it would depend on what it was.

A HD quality screenshot from one of the games, signed by all of the creative team, probably about œ30-œ40 (about equal to that of a convention signing). Same goes for a photo of the team that is signed by them all.

A piece of artwork (print or original), signed by the creative team, id probably pay between œ40-œ50.

Now if it came as a small bundle...say with a certificate, and perhaps a Cell from the game or games, then id probably pay...at most, œ80.

But these items i am suggesting are probably not a viable option for sale, and would be considered specialist items.

well tenebra look at the online store capcom america? everything Capcom European division is needed to make it a success! everything capcom europe related must or can be sold logicly especially games off course?

try to add as many paying options you have included thus for me with a banc transaction because I dont want a creditcard or paypal because you can than buy everything you want but after the month is over the banc wants there money back! you must pay that back off course thats why banc transaction with bic and iban is the most suitable option for me.

I just went to the official Resident Evil website, found my way to the merchandise section that has a picture of RE4s strategy guide, NECAs Zombie figure and a Red T-shirt with zombies on the front in black.

Clicking one of these images takes you to a website where you can order these items in.

Now, i was just clicking around to see what this shop offered. Youd think it would be something along the lines of Strategy Guides, Figures and T-shirts, right??

Wrong...this website that is linked from the official site only offers you a copy of RE4 for the Wii.

So, Ten...if an online store is set up, make it better than this.

Ok, heres what I think there should be and what they should cost, if its already been said, consider me rooting for it:

Capcom related comics, manga, literature and art books - œ5 - œ25 (per book, possibly more for collected and limited editions)
Game Scripts and Sheet music books œ50 - œ65
Making Of DVDs œ10 - œ20
Printed screens, signed and framed artwork œ30 - œ50
Figurines, Models and Sculptures - œ15 - œ150
Limited Edition Merchandise œ30 - œ200
T-Shirts, Hoodies and Clothing - œ10 - œ30
Jewelery and Accessories - œ5 - œ25 (Things like hats, rings and wallets)
Console skins and accessories - œ5 - œ20
Original Soundtracks - œ15 (for 1-2 discs) œ25+ (For 2 discs and more)
Memorabilia (Posters, Mugs, Bags, Keychains, wallscrolls) œ4 - œ20
Customised and forum exclusive gear œ20 - œ40
Current Capcom game releases œ30
Strategy Guides œ15

Ok, heres what I think there should be and what they should cost, if its already been said, consider me rooting for it:

Capcom related comics, manga, literature and art books - œ5 - œ25 (per book, possibly more for collected and limited editions)

You mean to start from œ0.50 right...right! When I say 50p, most comic books arent (except the odd special 10cents issue or whatever) but œ5 for a standard variant comic book is a bit much (on normal release). The variants (Power Foils for SF comics) are usually œ5+, but the standard covers are about œ1.50. Novels, manga and trades are fine though. Just no way œ5 for a standard comic book (some variants are fine).

Game Scripts and Sheet music books œ50 - œ65

Wow. Youre rich. Really rich. œ50 is over priced. You can get them for about œ20 (sometimes much less) from places like Play-Asia. Scripts tend to end up being bundled with some special edition usually.

Making Of DVDs œ10 - œ20

Interesting to have them sperate but this is something that is standard to bundle with something else (the main thing perhaps). Itd be interesting to see how theyd do seperately though.

T-Shirts, Hoodies and Clothing - œ10 - œ30

Fair price but, if they were to stock replicas like the RE4 Leon Kennedy Selection released in Japan (long gone but were official products made according to the designs for the character in the game), you would be looking to pay a lot more. œ60-ish just for some pants or a top. I ocassionally buy stuff at that price anyway heh.

Jewelery and Accessories - œ5 - œ25 (Things like hats, rings and wallets)

For the legit stuff you are more likely to pay more. Just take a look at Square Enixs products. The cheapest jewelry item is like œ20 or so (been a while since I checked). That was for an earring. Their pendants jump up to œ150 (can be cheaper from other places). Officialy jewelry tends to cost a decent bit and usually pretty limited as well. Id definitely love to see some though. Its mainly SE that makes official jewelry.

Strategy Guides œ15

Id say œ10-œ18 depending on the kind of guide (some come with sample OSTs).

Anyway, your selection is pretty much what I agree with.

Capcom already have deals with SOTA Toys to produce figures as well as the odd few made by other Japanese companies. I dont know how much worth there is for CE to create a new deal with some European company for the Euro market. Not when importing them is easier. I think Diamond are the people that distribute all this stuff to most US and UK retailers.

Whoops, im sorta used to paying about that much for graphic novels, yeah around 50p to about œ1.20 depending on the comic of course.

And the game scripts, I didnt know much about the cost of those, but I estimated it to be pretty high, but looking back at it, yeah, youre right.

Ryu Kazama
21-08-08, 23:42
Yeah, graphic novels will cost a bit more. Even more if its hardback. Sometimes its like a œ10 difference between a hardback and softback. Mind you, I quite like hardbacks. Look nicer but more of a pain to read/carry.
