This Friday signals the release of one of the most anticipated titles on the PS3 (and one of my most anticipated).

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.

So it's a pretty simple question - are you buying it?

Did you play the Beta? Did it get you excited or cement the fact that you're not interested?

Unfortunately, the Beta is over now so practising is out of the question.

So bring on Friday. <3

I'll definitely be buying it, that's for sure!

I had some odd connection issues when playing online, and other times it ran fine, so not too sure what that's about, but it was really fun to play.

The original I thought was kinda cool, but pretty average (apart from the graphics of the water etc). Uncharted 2 however, looks to be a lot more fun, plus it has stealth elements, and a lot more depth to the fighting and gunplay it seems.

The falling down level looks really awesome. :D

I'll be getting it, just unfortunately not on release. will have to give you a game or 50 Carbonox! :p

Fo sho, we'll have to arrange some CE community games. The party up system in this game is incredibly easy to set up.

That's the one thing I didn't get to test out - Inviting friends, as nobody else was playing it really on my friends list (at least not when I was).

We need a community game fo shizzle! :p

Basically, when you're in the lobby you can party up as it's called. You press Triangle to see your friends list and can choose to enter games with people already playing on your list, or you can get others to join you so that when you're in the lobby, you're all together before the match starts. Once it starts, it's you and your friends against whoever the opponents are, so you're always together.

Quite funny how many devs (even those specialising in online) fail to get it right but Naughty Dog come out with such an easy to use system. Standards are being set here. <3

I downloaded the beta but then couldn't be bothered to play it as I dont really like the PS3 and have literally no interest in Uncharted 2. Brutal Legend is out this friday and so Ill be buying that. Then it's Left 4 Dead 2 and assassins creed 2, after I get bored of every other game I own, I might buy uncharted and use my PS3 for something other than a DVD player

Sounds like Call of Duty: World at War in a way. You have to party up in the lobby, if you want to play a game with friends.

Naughty Dog have obviously done it better though, as you can join friends in games already being played.

Sounds pretty good, just wonder how many friends you're actually allowed to do it with, lol.

AVP is my most wanted game at the minute. :D

Chaos - Shame on you. Use that PS3!

I actually bought the first game when I got my PS3 last year.

I'd heard that it was a kind of "sleeper hit" kind of title. Didn't look like much, but was apparently better than average.

So I bought it.

It was good. It was like Tomb Raider, but with testicles instead of breasts. I kind of liked it.

The controls were good, though the combat was a bit awkward to get used to. But then I realised that the game had a very strong focus on combat, and not enough on the actual puzzle/adventure side of the game.

I gave up not long after the plane crash, because I was getting bored of the "Move forwards, have a battle, move forwards, have a battle" etc.

With the new game coming out soon, I figured I'd sit down and finish number 1. I'm ill at the moment, so I have the time.

I completed it the other day, and the storyline was great. The environments were great. Voice acting was cheesy, but it was done in that sort of cool Indiana Jones cheesiness.

The game is great, but it was way too action oriented...I wanted a Puzzle/Adventure game, with action in it, and got an action game with a few elements of puzzling (and even then, the puzzling was brain numbingly easy for the most part).

I'll be buying Uncharted 2 at some point, but not anytime soon.

Played the Beta all last week, absolutely loved it, played with a friend a good couple of times, I have it on pre-order, heading my way this friday.

I'll be more than happy to join you all in a game. ;)

........interesting.
funny, that's the only reason why i like tomb raider.

anyway, i played the demo of the first game i i didn't like it at all. it was a bit stop-start and the easy mode was REALLY HARD!!
my question is, do you need to know the storyline and characters of the first in order to play the second? or should i just buy the first just as a 'what the heck' type of thing?

Hey Green, nah you don't.

Basically Naughty Dog has said (can't remember if it was in a video clip with the developer, or if it was in a news article) that for those who have the original, obviouslythey'd get more out of Uncharted 2, but they plan to make a series of Uncharted games, and each game will have its own story.

Good news for you. :)

I'd still recommend the first game. It will also enable you to get to grips with the three main characters who return in Uncharted 2; Nathan, Victor and Elena.

But Cortez is right, the story in Uncharted 2 is more of a new story than a progression with new characters and plotlines. You should do fine jumping straight to it.

The first one is one of the best if not the best game on PS3 IMHO.

I will be getting 2 but not for a while my need for Forza 3 is just that much greater.

thanks everyone!
i will definitely take the first game into consideration. :D

Spike: i always though forza was just a cheap imitation of gran turismo...
tell me if you like it!

Green51q - I really hate Gran Turismo. To me, the cars feel too unrealistic, and I only liked Forza a little bit more.

They're both simulation games, where as I like arcade racers more like Burnout and Need for Speed: Most Wanted/Carbon.

Forza is far from a cheap imitation of GT.

Forza IMO beats G for a simulation racer due to it always having damage modelling both cosmetic and none cosmetic.

The the vinal customisation option are the best I have seen.
Forza 1 & 2 were also the pinnacle of online racing when they came out and Forza 3 serms to have gone even further for online this time.

Forza dose not have as many car and tracks as GT and does not look as polished but the total enjoyment I prefer Forza.

My faverate racers go as .
F1 Studio 33 aka Sony Studio Liverpool
Forza
Pro Race Driver
GT2 (as nothing has realy changed apart from the graphics since This title)

Note The above is only a opinion.

But you need to get Uncharted 1 at some point.

green51q

ok i will get uncharted one if you so highly recommend it.

ya the old gran turismo's didn't have damage and that was a real turn off (ba-dam, dssss)
well atleast GT5 will have damage,
but you're right, simulation games really aren't that fun.

this is my list of top racing games:

need for speed carbon
need for speed pro street (what a dissapointement)
burnout paradise
Gran Turismo 4

Uncharted 2 is out today!

So who went out and bought it? Aside from Dante of course, who got his copy yesterday and has been indirectly making me jealous. :P

I just woke up after a shoddy 3 hour sleep, so after an overdose on coffee and smokes (which will probably cancel eachother out and make me fall asleep again - oh great as I type this an advert about a kid telling his parent to quit came on...), I'll head out to pick it up.

Game had loads in stock. £49.99
Standard Edition £43.99

The Wife has been kind to me and bought it me from Asda £36.71

Cortez, you're thinking of the Fortune Hunter Edition or whatever it's called. Comes in some massive box and has the dagger in it. That's not available in stores.

I paid £49.99 for my CE from GameStation. Gorgeous steelbook case but shoddy extras, heh.

I'm currently in Chapter 6 or 7 at the moment. The set-pieces, visuals, atmosphere, motion/voice acting, etc. are simply sensational. You will not find a game as well put-together as this.

Haven't touched multiplayer yet but going by the Beta, it should be just as good if not better, due to the additional game modes that weren't in the demo.

CaptainCortez
16-10-09, 22:44
Ah yea. I was under the impression that there was only the Collectors Fortune Edition, and the standard one, but had a look and Game has a steelbook edition.

Not gonna bother with that though, sadly.

The extra's seem a bit naff, so I'd basically be paying a tenner extra just for the packaging.

Gotta get lots of things anyway. I still need the English version of Dissidia on psp.....want a DS for Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days, and obviously want Uncharted 2, but can afford none of it.

Added you on psn btw Carbonox. ;)

Carbonox_Ratchet

Thanks for the add. You should get the regular edition then. Either way, a gaming gem not to be missed. :]

My steelbook will be in my hands tomorrow (Sunday) as I've been way too busy to pick it up between now and then.

Kind of looking forward to it, no where near as much as Carbo though =P
