It seems to me that every day i come on here, there is a new topic about a port or remake...

Please remake/port Resident evil [number/title here] to [console name here]

Ok, yes...Capcom are deadly famous for porting almost all of their games numerous times. In the RE series alone, there are tonnes of ports.

But why is everybody falling for it? Why does everybody want more versions of RE2, when there are 5-7 perfectly fine versions to choose from?

Why do they have to remake Outbreak 1&2 for the PSP?

Why port 0 and REmake to other consoles?

Yes, itll cost you money to go out and get the extra console for those extra games...but if you really want to play them that badly, why not fork out for them? It may take you a while, but its what i did...im not made of money, but i dont see the point in whining about it.

Gamecubes cost about œ20 at most now...and REmake and Zero can be found going for œ5-œ10.

Thats œ40 (the price of 1 brand new game) for a console and 2 games.

And on top of all of this, most of the time they spend making and releasing these ports and remakes could be better spent making brand new titles.

Instead of Outbreak 1&2 on the PSP, why not Outbreak 3: Portable Infection?

Instead of DS2, why not have a tie in with Umbrella Chronicles?

Sure, a remake of 2 and 3 would be nice...but why? Whats the point?

The games may not be perfect, but they are fine the way they are.

RE1 was only remade because it no longer fit with the rest of the games...on top of that, it was remade to relaunch the series on another console...to create a new fanbase. It did that quite well, but not as well as RE4 did i guess.

And i know that most of you wont agree with me on most of this...but im just bored of reading the same topics over and over...even the titles annoy me now...

And like Ive said again and again, those that keep asking for ports suffer from low attention spans and fail to realise that in five years after their port theyll be looking a new port to ps4, and another and another and another and another and another.

Yep, the vicious cycle.

Constant remakes would also cause this problem. REmake all but CVX, and CVX will look awful...so theyll REmake that, and then itll look better than the others, so theyll REmake them...over and over and over.

I just noticed: Other game series (I was thinking of Megaman for example) don t seem to have such a problem (if you want to call it a problem).
There are hardly any remakes of Megaman games. The only one I can think of right now are the 2 collections, and I wouldn t call them remakes really, because they are just like the original games.
I wonder why.

Cause they lack of ideas... It started with Resident Evil 4, bad Story ( Still good game tho ) - RE5, dunno how the story will guide us through, but itll be a bad story again i think. They do Remakes, cause they cant continue the series any further. There cant be a RE13 like Final Fantasy or any other game series, the RE story will stop soon, maybe even after part 5. The old Resident Evil s were great sellers, it was a revolution, a great success, so why not doin a remake ? It will be selling great again. Id be glad bout a RE2 remake, but id be glad about new RE s aswell. ( I want a return of the T or G Virus )

I can admit that I have a somewhat narrow perspective on this.

As a Resident Evil fan, who has been a fan since the original Resident Evil PSX game, with Resident Evil 4 I like many others felt that Capcom was betraying us by changing Resident Evil into something it shouldnt be, they removed what made Resident Evil, Resident Evil.

People dont like change and Im not afraid to admit that I am one of them, I would have preferred Capcom to keep churning out games of the same style and similar story because I feel that they are what made the series great, if it isnt broken, dont fix it.

(Yes Im kidding, I, too would prefer something new.)

But why is everybody falling for it? Why does everybody want more versions of RE2, when there are 5-7 perfectly fine versions to choose from?

The main reason is that some version have bonuses others dont.
Also the reason most gamers want remakes of certain titles (Like zero and rebirth), is that some editions have been edited only for a single (LOUSY) platform

lousy??

Oh, i get it...youre not a fan of the gamecube.

Despite the fact that at its time, it was much superior to the PS2, and could actually pull the games off.

Grow up.

Huh?

Theres a difference between a (mere) port and a remake. As there are just a couple of truly good games I generally do not mind remakes, especially not when the developer isnt likely to come up with something new that is better - and if they make the old game a lot better. Of course thats subjective. I think Zero and Remake are a lot better than the originals. I dont like the DS remakes of FF games, though. Generally, going from (old school; drawn, sprite-based) 2D to 3D is not a good idea, in my opinion.

I think the RE remakes need to be knocked on the head now they were good games (even No.4) but Id pefer Capcom to focus on RE 5 and MH Tri.

people make their choice of console for one reason or another if they cant have more than one, and as any choice you dont always get everything you want.
Thats life
