I was thinking about what would make the playstation 3 even more great, well what about a collectors edition dead rising 1 and 2 for ps3? i'll post a poll on here for anyone who thinks dead rising 1 on the ps3 would be a good idea. please no fanboy stuff here, i want this poll to be serious so that capcom can see a potential in releasing dead rising 1 for ps3. It would be super to see feedback and for you to all vote in the poll. thanks :D
It certainly would be a good idea.
I own the 360 version but still would pick up a Ps3 version just as I picked up the Wii version.
Welcome to Capcom Europe :)

Welcome to Capcom Europe :)
Thanks for the welcome :D hope to get a good response because I long for the day to play this game on the playstation lol.
While I'm all for releasing games on all the consoles, I just don't see it happening.
It's getting on a bit not and I can't see people buying it unless extras were added(which happened with both Eternal Sonata and Bioshock and, to a lesser extent, the Ninja Gaiden games). I suppose if it was being sold at a reduced price and had some updated graphics(and exclusive, bonus content, which I'd not be too happy about) it could work. But do Capcom really want to pump money into an old game with a sequel on the horizon?

yeah i know what you mean. but it would be a pain to not have 1 on the ps3 when there is deadrisng 2. you would have to get two systems to play the 1st game again. that kinda sucks because the wii version is not as powerful (obviously) and the 360, well. i used to own one but i got rid of it from the red ring, got fed up and went to the ps3. i think that even if they just ported it, it would still do for convenience. :D
Would not say no to Dead Rising for PS3 ethier.
I have the Xbox 360 version and wii version already and planning on getting 2 for PS3 as that is the one console mainly connected to the internet all the time, I guess it would be easier to get possible DLC for nr 2 aswell atleast for me as I dont have an Xbox360 account and truthfully play PS3 more then Xbox360.
If now a PS3 version happened then what version would you like it to be,
Xbox360 version or wii version?
Wii Version added some new stuff to the game(but also changed some of the bosses) but also graphical wise inferior to the Xbox360 and gameplay wise changed a bit.
Or is it possible to make a version with the Xbox360 graphical and gamplay but with wii content included for an PS3?
Not sure which version I would like to have,I guess wii Version is the "final" version however play the Xbox360 version more still.
However as said would not say no too a Dead Rising 1 PS3.

A PS3 version of Dead Rising would make me go :hop:
But they would have to update the game and get rid of the annoyances the first game had on X360. Since they now have the sequel on PS3, how hard would it be to use that game engine and the x360-textures and just slam the story together? Why not make a collector's of DR2 with the first added.
How can some people be so egoistic that they don't want other people to be able to play this game? Some only have one console and won't buy another.

Yes I would enjoy both on the PS3. Ive never played this game but the reviews I have read suggest this game is a must have!

yeah it's deffo a must have :) come on capcom! get it on the playstation 3!!!
As much as I would like to see it I doubt it would happen now. The games is what nearly 4 years old and would probably end up a dreadful port like the original lost planet on Ps3.

I don't think it would probably end up a bad port, Dead Rising runs on the same engine (MT Framework) as Lost Planet, Devil May Cry 4 and Resident Evil 5.
While Capcom did a tremendous good job porting DMC4 and RE5 on PS3, LP was a shi**y port just because it wasn't handled by Capcom (but by K2 LLC).
If ported by Capcom, a Dead Rising for PS3 would be as good as it was on Xbox 360, but yeah the problem is that too much time has passed since the original release, almost 4 years...
PS3 ports are always expensive if not developed simultaneously (which is what Capcom is actually doing since the MT framework has been optimized for the multiplatform development) with the Xbox 360 version and history has taught us that PS3 version sales are inevitably going to be considerably low if the game is ported one or two years after the original release for Xbox 360... just look at BioShock (2K) and Lost Planet Extreme Condition sales on PS3, respectively 2.4m copies vs 400k and 1.8m copies vs 500k.
I suppose Capcom ported Dead Rising on Wii because it was less expensive than a PS3 port and they thought it would have resulted in a success like RE4 Wii Edition...but judging by the poor sales (200k copies only) they were wrong on the second part, I guess.
TBH I preferd Dead Rising on the Wii over the 360 version.
I do own both the above version but would also buy a ps3 version if one came.
Dead Rising has to be in my top 5 fave games of the last 5 years.

Yeah, Dead Rising Chop Til You Drop is a blast, perfect controls, well balanced difficulty and more action/shooter oriented...easy and intuitive like RE4 Wii and less frustrating than the 360 version, which I found definitely harder and challenging.
But I think that only the 360 version delivers the true Dead Rising experience, with his strengths and weaknesses.
I would buy the PS3 version though, but maybe we are asking too much to Capcom....who knows:rolleyes:

the only thing I wouldnt like about a PS3 version is if they added in a load of new stuff that wasnt available on the 360 version that I already have. I hate when you spend your hard earned money on something only to have an even better version of the thing you just got *cough* super SF4 *cough splutter!* which then makes your original purchase near enough worthless.
I was thinking of Buying DR2 for the PS3, but I wont because I haven't play the First one. If I hear any news about the first DR being ported to PS3 in any way, then the game is "day one" for me!

That's the thing you don't need to have played DR1 to understand DR2, Capcom have made that clear or at least tried to.
I do understand how you feel and it would be nice to have 1 on the Ps3, but also I would like to move forward than have a 4 year old game ported over, and if it was anything like the first lost planet port on ps3 it would be a insult not only to the game but ps3 gamers.

That's bad...
I think that the Concept of being in a mall full of Zombies is far better than being in Vegas (full of Zombies)
I think they should at least toss it over on DR2 as an Extra. The blue Ray have more than enough space to fit 2-3 games. Also, now that the PS3 got broken, a Blue-Ray that it's filled with data all the way up, will make Pirate's life much harder.

I'm new here and late to this thread but wanted to comment. Sorry if this is a bit long but I've been 'evangelising' Dead Rising 1 for the last few years and it would be good to get it off my chest on a Capcom forum.
While I doubt they will bring it to PS3 (though surely we could at least hope for a PC port which shouldn't be any trouble) I wanted to put my vote in for PS3 too. As I now own a PS3 after my 360 died (for the 3rd and final time - enough was enough).
While I had my 360 however, way back in '06 Dead Rising blew me away. Say what you want about the dodgy save system and the crazy Otis comms... Dead Rising is my favourite game of this gen on ANY system!
I just adored the thing, it was pure unadulterated fun. The graphics were gorgeous, moreso the level design and attention to detail than any basic graphical quality. It was a truly immersive game thanks to the environment.
I remember going into the nights, the mall shutting down for the evening and wandering around the supermarket for ex. It oozed atmosphere like no other game I've ever played. I feel it was completely under-rated for what it did with immersive techniques. And as I'm now 36, a somewhat 'older' and jaded gamer (gaming since the Atari VCS in 82) I thought nothing could impress me much these days. I honestly felt like a kid again playing DR. It was magic, even with it's quite tough game design and minor flaws.
Anyway all of this gushing is hopefully to highlight another 'thanks' to Capcom for the amazing work they did on DR1 and that far from being 'too old' to port, they owe it to themselves and gamers on all systems to spread this landmark title. Unless of course Microsoft paid them to keep it exclusive 'forever' in that incarnation.
I think because a lot of the game was 'mindless fun', some people couldn't see past it to the stunning immersion and feelings of empowerment the game delivered. Almost everyone I showed it to ran around with the same 'little kid at christmas' look on their face, picking up everything in sight and using it as a weapon. The scope of believability was immense, shops were packed with detail, lighting was gorgeous, effects were spot on and atmosphere was higher and more consistent than most games that came before.
I always felt DR was an experiemental game for Capcom, not one they took that seriously at the time (certainly not the same high esteem they held Resident Evil in) but it reviewed well and those that loved it really loved it, heck I'm even thinking of re-buying a new 360s just for this one game!! (in reality my head won't let me as I can't 'reward' MS for shoddy design in the first place that left me £300 lighter - my e74 error wasn't covered for free at the time and I refused to pay another £100+ just to get a refurb that I knew would die again and again).
So please capcom, whether you or anything thinks any future DR2 fans 'need' to have played 1 or not (and no you really won't have to for any story issues it wasn't an epic story by any means) they should have both the right to choose to play the full saga and play it exactly because it doesn't rely on story. It was a game packed with gameplay and it was a weird mix of 'sandbox on rails' something I've rarely seen done so well if at all. And that's what made it so special, it was contained enough to be graphically rich and packed with atmosphere, but open enough to give freedom, empowerment and sheer fun. It's sad to think that one of the best games of the 2000s is forever going to be available on one (unreliable) format. So PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE port it even a straight port would do me fine. :bash:
Now why did I quote the poster above? Because I'm really quite nervous about DR2 for a number of reasons, I'm thinking maybe they have taken the most obvious 'essence' of DR1 and amplified it to mega proportions (weapons and zombie slaying) and perhaps MAY have missed out on the atmosphere, quieter downtime and the stuff where your brain would connect with the game so well that you felt like you were in that beautiful and crazy shopping mall. It was like plugging into a dream.
I hope I'm wrong, and probably am. Vegas is also a very cool setting, I just hope the detailing hasn't suffered on a macro level to cater to the 'larger' world. IT was those details and the 'everday' feel to the environment that made it such a compelling experience.
If they have just refined DR1 and given us plenty of 'normal' places to move around (shops like in the first game and not just Casinos) then it should be fine.
There's also the chance that DR2 could be even better, and that would be a great moment in gaming history believe me. I'll be getting it on PC probably (pending any player reviews concerning PC port quality) as playing it on high res max detail PC (with xbox controller) is something I'd have loved to have done with DR1. Honestly, if it lives up to the first game's legacy I can see it being one of very few games I'll actually need to buy/play this year.
Fingers crossed :)

Maybe so but in fact in the mall you was basiclly always inside but now you can go outside more and less inside.:therethere:

I underatand where you coming from, but it would have to work both ways for extra or exclusive content to stop inailiating the other half.
Most Ps3 games you could fit onto blu-ray 50GB 6 or 7 times over.
LBP is only just over 2 GB, same with Burnout paradise.
They do fill up the blu-ray disc with duplicate Data which is just as efective to stop pirates.
You won't see Blu-Ray being fully uterliesed till the Next gen of consoles with it being in a transition stage.
Out of all the games on ps3 their are only 3 or 4 games which do uterlise the disc size.
Sorry about the spelling I am having to use IE with out spell check as Fire Fox does not want to work with this forum right now :(

Funnily enough the small bit of outside that was in the game felt 'just right' in the first one (ok just my opinion) but it was indoors where the detailing and fun was really ramped up. Outside was nice for a break but by it's nature is far more 'bland' and not as graphically rich. However it is Vegas we are talking about so maybe they can find enough outdoors interest to do it justice.

I think you'll be pleasently surprised.
Infact if you log in to TIOD today at 4pm you'll be very pleasently surprised :D

This sounds very intriguing thanks! And really pleased DR2 is coming to more formats than just 360 this time!
Now all I have to do is work out what TIOD is (as I'm new here). Oh and invent a time machine to go back to 4pm (oops)
edit > o.k through sheer hard work, cunning and innate ability (or just looking at the home page) I managed to figure out TIOD - and yes I had heard of this from gaming sites but, I should point out I only looked at some early shots of DR2 and I'm trying to avoid anything to do with it - as I often do with games I'm looking forward to. Don't want any spoilers or info haha :)
well ok maybe i'll be tempted now if it's not too late.

Ok thanks:D.
Dead Rising on ps3 should have new extra features and improvements over xbox 360 version
1. smoothed and rounded graphics at native 1080p 60fps.
2. same blood animations and affects as xbox 360 version but more rounded smoothed less square looking plus as in Dead Rising 2 airborne blood trails that follow the broadsword/ceromonial sword and chainsaw. blood squirts out of attached cut of stumps and detached body bits and sprays out in a more realistic way and for a lot longer and when a zombie wacks you airborne blood splashes follow there hands from Dead Rising 2 and arms and legs fly the same way as they do in Dead Rising 2 when you hit a zombie with a sledge hammer plus the blood splashing on then ground affect that's in Dead Rising 2.
3. Dead Rising 2's chainsaw secondary attack, broadswoard secondary and primary attacks for the ceromonial sword, sledge hammer primary attacks and baseball bat primary attacks.
4. A more accurate version of Dead Rising 2's pricision zombie cutting and
all zombie's limbs heads and body cuttings stay put for much longer.
5. Dead Rising 2,s physix.
6. game should be in 3D with a 2D option.
7. game supports Playstation move sub and navigation controllers with Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop's wiimote and numchuk controller like configuration but with full motion control on weapons etc.

Unfortunatly all the reasons you list is the exact reason it's unlikely ever to happen.
To make all of those changes would take a team of 100+ a minimum of couple of years to make. With marketing, royalties and dev costs easily you'd be looking at needing to sell over 1million copies just to break even.
I could agree with a port maybe bundled with Chop Til You Drop that has Move compatibility like Dead Space have done with Extraction.
But not overly enhanced to the point its just DR2 in different clothing.

I would love that as I loved Chop til you Drop on Wii
