Spelling and grammar. Please, please, please try to check and correct your posts. Most of the time I can understand what people are posting, sometimes I can't, and if I can't it means those whose first language isn't english will also struggle to understand leading to further confusion. Just because your friends can understand you on MSN isn't a reason, since other people might not.
I think this thread is useless, because i believe all people here that post messages are trying to have the correct spelling and grammar and if they have a typo, its not on purpose.
People whose first language is english should have always flawless posts, because people from other countries such as me will learn from them the correct spelling and grammar.
Compared to other boards I am active in, this one is absolutly the one with the most correct grammar / spelling.
I rarely see text speak in any of the posts, only times i think ive seen it is for abbreviations.
People whose first language is english should have always flawless posts, because people from other countries such as me will learn from them the correct spelling and grammar.
That's my aim.
Some people don't seem to bothered. They type out a response and either don't check or don't care. Most people have good spelling and grammar, but there are definite exceptions.

Personally I find this unnecessary due to the varying factors in one's ability to write. Dyslexia, less knowledgeable in the English language, etc.
While ensuring your grammar is top notch may help others who aren't so used to the language, it still puts pressure on those to do so.
When you write, you should feel comfortable and not pressurised to follow standards. This should not, however, mean that you can "txt spk" your way throughout the forums. It's tacky and lazy.
Try to go at your own pace. If you're uncomfortable, then go about writing to the best of your ability. We're only human. The priority is getting your point across when it comes to forums and communication. How you go about doing it is rather important, however.
Appreciation, folks. Appreciate those less fortunate, without having to tell them off. I know I'd feel rather offended if my English was not so great and I read this. Let's not put a damper on things. This is Capcom Europe, afterall. Main thing is to have fun.

Its covered in the rules, in parts.
I think its partly ignorance, I find it hard to believe someone would talk in txt/leet because they don't know how to spell, since the vast amount of reading on the internet would fix this in no time, as well as forum etiquette, most of which is purely common sense.
And people think its faster, the benefit is so marginal that its hardly worth it at all, I try my best to make articulate posts rather than one with speed that barely expresses anything intended.
I also think the quality of the post far outweighs the way of which it is spelled, even if it is in txt/leet, credit where credit is due, unless they are doing it repeatedly to be obnoxious, then there isn't a real problem, I've had no trouble understanding the bulk of posts I have read, even those whose English is a second language.
As Dante said, it's mentioned in the rules, and there was already a thread concerning spelling and stuff in the past by Tenebra.
Point there was, as long as people try to be understandable, we'll try to understand it as well.
I don't think there should be another one like this so I'm gonna put a lock on this one.
