Anybody going in September?
As a few people here already know, Im on my gap year and will be heading off to Southampton Solent University in September. I was accepted ages ago, so no worries for me...and Ive literally just applied for my student loans and everything (best to apply before end of May, as the local councils will be inundated with loan requests by June).
Ill be studying Journalism for 3 years, and then hopefully going full time into magazine work.
Any advice from those that are already there? Any questions from those that are concerned or worried?
Anything at all??

I ve got an additional year to think now. Thank you community service!
IF I didn t fail in the tests that is. That reminds me... I should be learning for the next one.
Well, I should, but...
Anyway, to get back to the question: university is an not option I can chose from yet.
Maybe next year.
I go to university. Lol more specifically the same one you are going to. Will be in my second year. The best bit of advice I can give you is...dont take anything lightly. In the first year you only need 40% to pass each unit. But if you go in with that in your mind and dont try any harder you can end up screwing yourself over.

Well, at least im going to know someone when i get there :P i just hope i dont piss you off :D:D
Only 40% in the first year? Thats insane. I never go lightly anyway...i always try my best when im doing work. This is going to cost me œ21,000 by the end of the course...and it decides my future. So to take it lightly and not put in the right amount of effort would just be a waste of both my time and the Universities. Not to mention a waste of money.
This is going to cost me œ21,000 by the end of the course
This is why I never went to Uni. Theres just no guarantee that a better job will be avaliable to you at the end. I know a few people who do a uni course on top of work and thats something I might consider in around 3 - 5 yrs. Any advice? just keep your head down, Ive seen far too many people leave part way through there course for obvious reasons, dont let it happen to you.
The first year is to kind of get you used to uni. œ21,000??? Craziness. Think mine is going to be œ12,000.
hm.. I was in Reykjavik Technical College for a half year, hated that school. not only was it long distance away from home, but I knew no one there and I was being ignored the whole time and I met no one. then also I was learning on something I had no idea what even does.. a.. house design thing. I want to learn something like 3D modeling.
now Im working, but gonna return to school after this summer.. and join the same school that my bro is in.

Im currently about œ16,000 in debt (Student Loans and now Tuition Fee Loans now the system has changed).
Probably going to be somewhere in the region of œ22,000 when I finish, depends on my financial circumstances.

Itll be around œ21,000 because of both the course fee (œ3,145 per year) and then maintenance loan (around œ3000-œ4000 per year).
I wont have to start paying it back until i earn œ15,000 a year or more. But if i leave the country after my course for 5 years, then it gets scrapped. So i may move to New Zealand or Canada.
Why New Zealand or Canada? if I were you id go to Australia or U.S.A.

New Zealand and Canada have more job opportunities, and they have a much more strict flow of people that wish to emigrate.
I never want to live in the USA...to be associated with them would kill me, and to get caught up in their struggles would just infuriate me. Trust me, ive done the research.
As I may have mentioned before, I want to be an IT Teacher, once upon a time, if you successfully trained as a Teacher and worked for a year, your Student Loans were scrapped, but they dont do that anymore. :(
Havent changed my career choice though.

Only one suggestion- prepare to study hard. Treat it like a full time job.
