Consider the composition a bit more, and add a tad bit more contrast.

How are you converting to black and white?

Is it just a greyscale conversion?

To get the best looking mono pics shoot colour and then convert them to black and white manually using photoshop or whatever software, and then dodge and burn it to add more feel to it.

On composition

-Watch your horizon lines, make sure they are straight, wonky horizons rarely work well.

-Balance and placement, think more of lead in lines and use things like the rule of thirds to place key parts.

also is that some kind of water colour treatment? :S

Keep up the good effort though.
