I'm curious to know if you people just play PAL Resident Evil games, or if you play US or Japanese too, or all?

By the past i always bought Games in Japanese because of the soon release, then the US version to understand really the game, and finally in PAL to enjoy 100% of the game.
Today, release dates are 99% the same, so i only buy japanese games for my collection, but i often play in US version because in PAL i think translations are really bad, some words or sentences we can hear in videos are untranslated in subtitles(In French i'm sure, for other PAL countries i don't know), and that's really a shame to miss many things(important or no)of the game just because of translations don't you think?

The main bulk of my collection is PAL copies of the series, but I've got 2 or 3 American copies.

I'm planning on getting each Region when I have the money, but I can't afford it at the moment.

PAL only because I only own UK consoles and not that fussed about playing other versions.
I've brought a Japanese version of Code Veronica but that's a pressent for my bf and simply a collectors item, not for him to play. Same as I own the American version of Final Fantasy VIII and I want the Japanese version as I'm a collector. But when I want to play the game I'll use my PAL edition.

For old consoles i use a CD-boot or a free-loader in order to use Import games.
But i have a few importated consoles(PS2 JP, PS2 US,GC JP,DC JP(Biohazard Claire edition),ect...)
I bought a SLIM PS2 US only to play Outbreak 1 and 2 online, because in PAL only the second episode was online, and not for long, too bad...

All of my games are PAL. I like waiting for new games...it makes them seem even better when you finally get to play them.
If a game is released outside the UK, but not in the UK, that I like the look of, then I might import in the future. Maybe.

Since I never hacked my consoles and I don't own foreign hardware, all my Playstation 1-2-3 and GameCube games are PAL.

Only ever bought PAL versions of any game, including Resi games but I must admit I have been tempted sometimes, since Europe always gets delayed by sometimes outrageous times, 2 years sometimes!

I agree.
Playing Importated games isn't supposed to be legal...but really, sometimes i think they're making fun of us.
When the release date is one month between Japanese Version and PAL version why not, but many times it's months or years...i'm not sure translation is so long to do...

That and the fact your console needs to be region free i.e PS3. If it's not region free. No import. :(

It depends, the last generation of consoles had Freeloader released for most of them...which allowed importation of games, without having to modify the actual console.

It was kind of somewhere between being legal, and illegal. A kind of greay area that I've never seen covered by anyone properly.

I had one for my PS2 and GC, but never used it to import titles. I used them mostly for Cheats, etc.

Although, the GC Freeloader is what helped me play the RE4 Famitsu demo.

All PAL except for
Code Veronica Complete NTSC/J and Resi 4 Cube NTSC/US

Both xbox's are region free hardware but publishers are still aloud to put lock out on games as i have imported from Japan and USA for both xbox machines

Thats what I am saying, its really annoying and also very disappointing. I don't know why, at the end of the day, UK just gets the USA version anyway, with color, apologize etc, they don't even use British spelling most of the time!

Importing games is legal.

Many company's don't like it as they can't keep track of proper sales in certain regions.

Sony got a bit high strung in the ps2 era and got linksang closed down.

I suppose it not so bad now as most games come out in the UK at the same time or a week or so after US when before it could have been months,

Yeah i remember Likesang...the closed even if many people od sony's staff bought themself Ps2 and psp there...

But i tought importating was illegal in some way, more for consoles than games...
French Customs are really fond of making us pay when they intercept importated videogames...

It's not illegal, just dissapproved, many companies have been approached and asked to limit or prevent imported goods, but its unlikely they'll collar EVERY importer, especially small-time private sellers. In short, not illegal but certain companies do not like it.

I find importing is far too much hassle, it takes weeks on end for most products to arrive and even then, theres no promise that an EU console could run it, so I'd have to buy a foreign console and all the power adapter nonsense in order to play it. Imported versions of RE would just be shiny trophies rather than something I'd play.

PAL all the way; I considered buying an NTSC PS2 just solely to play Outbreak and Outbreak 2 for a longer period of time, but money and sense both were problems I didn't overcome. :p

Yeah. I'd rather wait than go out of my way to play it. The only games I've imported are for the DS and PSP where they were either cheaper, were released with different features in the UK(the Naruto games generally have less characters when released here so they lack any spoilers) or I was unsure of whether they'd get a release here.
