View Full Version : How About An Onimusha 5?
I Think Its About Time We Started To Hear About A New Onimusha Game Being Made:!:
I Think It Is Needed Due To The Poor Showing Of DOD, Which Was Not Terrible On Its Own But Is By Far The Poorest Of The Series!
I Know That A Film Is Due In 2009 And Perhaps There Will Be A New Game To Coincide With That?
What Do You All Think?
Yes a new onimusha game would be welcome.

Hopefully the film revives interest in the franchise so we can see a new title made. Personally I want it to go back to the roots of the series rather than the somewhat annoying system of Dawn of Dreams. It wasnt bad, just that it was really tedious and there wasnt enough of the elements in the original games that made them...well...Onimusha.
Im not sure how Dawn of Dreams performed either, financially at least. Critically it was average from what I remember (though I enjoyed it enough to finish it)
Yea hopefully if it is made then they will go back to the gameplay of the first 3 games.
I think Dawn of Dreams was a serious let down and if there wasnt a movie being made it could possibly have ended the series which would have been a terrible way to end it!
Also, iif made, I think they should have a story that can include the characters from the original 3 games instead of continuing with Soki from Dawn of Dreams.
What do you think?
i think they should have continued with Hidemitsu Samanosuke Akechi, rather than a complete new storyline and a new character.

I think weve seen the end of the Samanosuke story arc. Its a shame but perhaps ONE DAY well see it bought back.

Personally I think part four was subpar in every way. Story, characters, gameplay, you name it. Its a stellar example of the, in my opinion horrible, attempt to make a core game as casual as possible and accessible to newcomers. A good game will attract gamers (> Final Fantasy VII, Metal Gear Solid). Of course it is way easier to just resort to American FPS tactics. Who could ultimately blame them when it is about maximizing financial success.
Ive said that before, RE4, DMC 3 and 4 and Onimusha 4 are absolutely disappointing, in my opinion. Chances are the series wont ever return to what it once was.
To get technical, there was only really 3 Onimushas, the third ended the trilogy making the fourth game related to the series but not officially part of the series, so there could never really be a Onimusha 5.
But no one likes that so:
Yeah, I would love to see Onimusha come back on a next gen console, Hopefully more inventive than using the RE Tank controls and basic torn-out-of-DMC gameplay.

It was called Shin Onimusha in Japan (New Onimusha) so I can see there being a continuaton of Sokis story. I dont hope for it though.

Technically thats problematic considering that several characters from prior games make a return. As far as I am concerned 4 simply isnt part of the trilogy - obviously so - but it still is the fourth game in the series. Theres a convincing timeline.
Yeah thats true, there is nothing to say that the game wont continue to produce sequels outside of the main story arc, I apologise for my overt technicality.

Im sure they could write a story to include all characters (Samanosuke, Jubei and soki) using somekind of time travel like they did in Onimusha 3?
Perhaps with the promise of Soki dying off early? I think he was a little bit too Hollywood for my liking and the game was made, as triple seven said, to be accessible to newcomers

They could always make a title thats in-between the previous trilogy. If so theyd have to plan it properly AND probably release it to coincide with the movie. On top of that, well, theyd need to get Takeshi Kaneshiro back too.

Soki dies in DoD and Samanosuke is Tenkai, Jubei says pretty much says it in the ending scene. I hope they come up with a way to make another onimusha game, i quite liked them, tho story wise i dont see how there going to continue it.
