[OK, so the Collection thread got a little off-topic, so I'm creating this and moving all related posts to this thread.

Please use this thread to talk about Resident evil cosplay, perhaps sharing tips and ideas, and perhaps posting links to where you can get your hands on certain useful items.

That is so awesome, I'd want to walk around Tesco wearing that...

I suppose due to its color, it could double as a UBCS suit with the S.T.A.R.S logo replaced with a large umbrella one on the back, or choosing navy blue shirt and trousers would make it a Wesker suit. :P

The gun is a bit of a let down due to the orange tip at the end, but the law is the law, if you could get your hands on a professional BB gun, it'd look more so realistic, even with the orange tip.

That is pretty damned awesome...and by the looks of it, fairly easy to make to.

The main uniform looks like a standard military suit you could pick up from a Military Surplus Store...tactical vest might be harder to find though. S.T.A.R.S patch from e-bay...

Hmmm...I think I know what I'll be saving up for soon enough...

You'd be surprised, actually, the kind of vests sold in some hardware stores resemble proper military gear, especially the vests with pouches for tools, they still come in black, its not as functional, but hey, looks the part.

I have been ordered to cosplay David from the RE novels so XD
But yea, costume was fairly easy to assemble, but still took 6 months to find the closest gear I could.

Its an awesome costume simply because its so damn adaptable, you could make it in to anything along the lines of military and police.

Going back to a previous thing you mentioned Dante...what was it that made you stop doing a HUNK cosplay outfit?

***just to note, I'm going to create a Cosplay thread, and then move these posts in there.
Cost primarily, and lack of free time.

Helmet and pads where fine, found a few shops that had skater gear that looked exactly like them. The bulk of the costume was fine since I already have plenty of black trousers and shirts, the vest was also fine, alas, not armoured, but looked military-ish, I even have an M42 Ingram Mac BB gun, pefectly legal, but, once again, looked the part.

The biggest problem was the gas mask, gloves and boots, since finding the correct mask was difficult, the price was around £125+, the gloves where unique in design, and thus, awkward to obtain, the boots would also set me back quite a bit for the correct size and design.

Since I had no where to really show it off (this was about a year before the First-To-Play RE5 event), it was a rather pointless "fun" project, hence not that important.

HUNK is a bit expensive because of his gas mask =[
Easy to assemble. Its just a black flight suit, tac vest, boots, pads, gloves, an uzi or pistol, depends on how much money you have spare, and patches. Never wanted to do him though, seen way too many of him XD

If you, or anybody else for that matter, are able to to do such a list for various characters within the series...then please, go ahead.

It'd be nice to see a comprehensive list of how to imitate favourite characters from the series.

The ones I'm interested in are:

Carlos Oliviera, Joseph Frost (REmake), Albert Wesker (REmake), HUNK, and William Birkin.

For the most part, I can think of the basic pieces that I'd need to do all of the above...but getting it to look right, that'd be harder for me...

Wow, very cool, I shall look in to it, sounds like an interesting project, especially if capcom holds more First-To-Play events. (you should really check it out: http://www.capcom-europe.com/forum/showthread.php?t=28231 We basically go to the capcom offices and play a game about a month prior to it being out, all free, the only cost is the travel, since you live in the UK, this may be possible for you to join in.).

I'm looking for the RE2 HUNK design, not the ones from the recent games, as stated before, I had no trouble getting the pads and other kit, it was just the loose ends, but I'll be more accurate when I've conjured up a list.

ok, working on lists and the RE2 (original) HUNK has a very different loadout.
Let me reanalyse what he's wearing and find the gear. But his pistol, you can either use a Desert Eagle to be REALLY accurate, or I think he has a H&K VP70, like Leon

Once again, it's a shame that the gun has the orange bit on the end (damned laws!), but the rest is superb.

Thanks for the positive feedback ^^ Yeah cosplay is a very expensive hobby sadly =( Although that gun only cost me £3 from a fancy dress shop haha XD I couldn't have a more realistic looking one anyway as I don't like guns so wouldn't want to have something that felt kinda real to me.

NoWhereMedia has a customised airsoft gun that looks pretty real though. He should post a photo for you.

Now, Resi 2 HUNK loadout list. This caused me some hell, a lot of his gear is old issue, and therefore hard to find. Not to mention a picture of him that gives me a good enough view of most of his gear O_O
But here's as close as I could manage:

basic list - Helmet, kevlar tactical vest, right hip holster, gloves (full finger) gasmask (red lenses) belt, boots.

Items list:

Weapon - Desert Eagle (chrome) can be replaced with a H&K VP70

Helmet - http://www.wolfarmouries.co.uk/airsoft/bb/product.asp?page=product&id=H01STA
pricing - £20

gasmask - (this is a big price, but any model can be used as long as you can insert red lenses into the eyes)

right hip holster - this depends on the gun you pick.

That holster is universal, but to be safe, emailing and asking would be advised.

belt - You need one that suits the vest, but if your going by the exact picture, his belt isn't attached to the vest...but here's one the Holster will fit with:

boots - Any work, but the internet isn't the best place for this. Go to your nearest Military surplus shop and ask there. My recommendation would be either Magnum boots (if you have the money) or a pair of Para-Ordance boots will work fine

Kevlar Vest - I've never seen one in Britain that would work for HUNK, so I'll reference a normal tactical vest that is as accurate as possible:

Thats the vest I use, and its pretty much usable with any costume that needs a black vest.

Total price list for all of that is about...I'd say maybe £300? And thats not including the tactial clothing, but you can get black combat gear for about £20 from a surplus shop.

Another note, I used Wolf Armouries for all of this. I only did that because its got the biggest selection on one site, you could probably find stuff cheaper on ebay or elsewhere, so shop around first!

ok, reply time to TZM now.
A cosplay listing for William Birkin. This will be his outift from RE0 I believe, as its the easiest to analyse.

This one is really easy, I have the pieces to make it from my Resident Evil fan film so XD

Basic gear list - white labcoat (knee length), Jeans, tan shoes (loafers, maybe boots), a black belt with plain buckle, a formal t-shirt (colour up for debate, I'd say pale blue) and a Red tie.

Theres no point listing sites for this as you can find it everywhere, just go shopping in town. You can get the shirt from M&S, Peacocks, ort anywhere like that. Same for the jeans.
For the shoes, I'd recommend going to a Clarks shoe shop, they look like something you could get there.
Tie is just as easy as the shirt, it just has to be plain red.
The belt, you could just use a skate belt really, unless you wanna spend a bit more and go for a real leather one.
Jeans, I'd say are a pair of Levi's.
No need for an ID badge or anything else so

Next, Carlos Olivera. Gonna do his Original RE3 loadout as I prefer that version to the UC one.

Thats dedication right there, I am a fan of the Resi series but playing the games is about as far as I go. Cosplay sounds expensive though, so wouldn't be a good hobby for a skint student anyways haha.

It's always nice to see others cosplay though, you really appreciate the time and effort that goes into it.

I got it from Blue-Tiger-Trading on ebay and they sell all types of Resident Evil patches and pin badges (including BSAA & Umbrella) so I recommend checking them out if you need something.

Her thigh holster & gloves I can get from Wolf Armouries, which NoWhereMedia is linking in his costume lists, but it's worth checking ebay also as I found them cheaper on there, sold as new and from sellers with 100% feedback. I've also got my eye on some tactical boots and blue combats on ebay also (gotta love ebay).

I just find it a shame all the S.T.A.R.S. watches they sell on there have metal wrist straps when Jill has a brown leather strap. Boo. I'll have to get a plain boring watch then lol

I think I've worked out how to do her shoulder pads, the only thing I'm unsure of is that little box she wears on a waist strap under her belt. Is it some sort of ammo pouch?

If so, I'd say that it is a general storage pouch. It can be used for carrying anything, and probably is used mostly for storage of ammunition.

If you're looking for something similar to it, it might be worth checking for Digital Camera carry-cases, or checking camping supply stores for little cary cases or medical cases, etc.

Also, for the watch, it'd be worth noting that the S.T.A.R.S watch, you should be able to remove the metal strap and get a leather strap fitted on to it by a watch maker or someone like that.

I've got the metal watch myself, and I'm retty sure it should be possible to remove the strap.

I did have that idea and I was trying to check out how each of the watches were fitted but I couldn't see a way a new strap could be put in. As they're just cheapo merch from China I suppose it couldn't do any harm to get one and see what the watch stall at my local market says.

It appears to be written in Aerial, and starts around the Mid-back...I'd say about 4-6 Inches below the neck line.

The S on the left for S.T.A.R.S starts on her Left Shoulder Blade, and the S on the right is also placed on the Right Shoulder Blade. You should be able to figure out sizing from that.

The "Special Tactics" and "Rescue Service" pieces are the very same length as the main "S.T.A.R.S" so will also begin & end on the Shoulder Blades, with the "and" being directly in between "Special" and "Tactics"

Ahh that's fair enough, I know quite a few people are bored with Expo but there's still plenty of people I know going including the bf so I'll be there. Be cheaper for me also.

I might get new combats as these are slightly too big for me, even though I haven't got the belt yet I think they'll still feel bulky in the leg. They are made for men afterall. I'm making the shoulder pads out of foam.

Well I managed to get a new strap fitted to my S.T.A.R.S. watch yay! Only problem is while the strap fits my wrist fine it doesn't close around the glove ^^' I've used selotape to hold it on while I took this photo but I shall have to think of a way to keep it attached, even if it's a bit of string between the last buckle hole and the buckle >_<
I think it looks good though =)

Right well I got it finished! Wore to the London MCM Expo last weekend and it got a good response, a few people said I was the best Jill they had seen yay! I'm not completely happy with it though, I want to re-make the shoulder pads (they gave me hell) and I don't like the writing on the back of the t-shirt either. But other than that I think it looks ok and I had fun being Jill again with my lovely bf as CVX Chris as usual =p

True I considered it but I am so picky when it comes to details of my cosplays, it's not only the badge that's different but writing on the slide also ("Custom Kendo Shop" isn't on the standard models I believe). And I thought it would make a nice collectable when not in use for cosplay (although saying that I actually hate guns!).

The first handgun you can equip Claire with in the game is the Beretta 93R but I opted to go with the Browning Hi-Power you see her with in the opening intro so I can re-create some shots from that. She's also known for using a Browning HP in Resi 2 and Darkside Chronicles.
