Hi

While you're waiting for the much anticipated audio and video podcasts, which will include more in depth answers from the development team, here are some replies to the questions you've been asking during August.

Moto GP 09 10 Q&A August 2009

Q: Will the PS3 version of Motogp 09/10 have 1080 i/p?

A: PS3 will be running at 720p upscaled to 1080p. This is actually how most games run at 720p upscaled.

Q: The crashes in 08 were the worst bike crashes i have ever seen. I want to see the riders get back up and yellow flags and orange people running to help you get your bike up, while, if you’re injured badly enough, you’re out, and if your bike is badly damaged, you’re also out?

A: We are improving crashes, mainly the crash animations and crash sounds, this time you'll really feel like your coming off your bike.

Q: Pit lane was pointless in 08. It didn't do anything at all. Possibly this time you could go into pit lane during free practice and drive into your garage, seeing members of your crew occupying the seats and watching you drive in? When you come around the last corner of the track, your guys board should be held out and actually say stuff like how far the person behind you is, laps left, stop, disqualified, come in, pass, etc?

A: We're not planning on full features in pit-lane for GP. It’s a lovely idea, but as it’s our first outing with the GP franchise and as a company we're focusing or efforts on the environments, handling, AI and game modes. Your technical crew will have an important role to play in your race and will influence your performance on the track.

Q: While you can’t customize it much in real life either, it would be cool to be able to customize at least the butt of your characters suit, so if your name was Smith you could put "Smith" on the butt or something like that?

A: There will be ways of customising your rider, more information to follow when we announce more about the career mode. We can tell you that it won’t be like previous GPs, but similar to applying decals to the rider.

Q: In 09 10, can the crowds be alive, not dead?

A: We'll have fully animated 2D impostor crowds. We've gone for a system that will allow for crowd volume over detail creating a greater reactive audio response, but they will feel alive, rather than sparsely populated 3D crowds which you sometimes see.

Q: For 09/10, it would be cool if, when we win the race, we could go around the track and stick our finger up as and do donuts and wave the flag around the track, or wave at the crowd and all that stuff. Also, when we go on the podium, it would be cool to have champagne and spray the paddock girls and crowd with it.

A: We have a emote system in GP09/10, where you'll be able to do emote as you're riding. We're also experimenting with a victory lap / ride idea.

Q: Will Motogp 09/10 include a race weekend or a quick race in which you can qualify? Always starting from the last position in the grid isn't that much fun for a motogp fan.

A: Race weekends will be part of the career mode. The key for us is seamless transition between practice, race and qualify.

Q: Is there commentary during the race or replay?

A: There's no commentary, but there will be voice over from your manager. We are recording 4k voice script for this game.

Q: Has the ‘driving in gravel’ improved from previous versions of the game?

A: A big yes on that one. We have a tyre dirty system, which will effect your handling as you're riding.

Q; Will all the teams have proper liveries?(Rizla on the suzukis and Marlboro on the Ducatis-these liveries weren't on Moto GP 08). If you can't put these sponsors on the bikes for whatever reason, could you put the white designs on the ducatis-like in real life?

A: All the liveries will be as per the censored version of the sponsor.

Q: Will there be the option to customize your helmet?

A: There will be a multitude of designs you can choose from.

Q: Will there be a manager mode in this years game???

A; The clue is in the PR release, more announcements on Career mode will come further down the product cycle. We're heavily focused on the Arcade mode. As Career mode is the cherry for some players, Capcom want to tease you guys into a frenzy! We more than recommend that you guys drill us on arcade mode, maybe you might be able to gleam something from what’s not in arcade mode as that might well be in Career mode.

Q: Is GP09/10 going to have a filter to separate the different handling models on the scoreboard, so we can distinguish between sim and arcade times?

A: Currently there are over 300 scoreboards for GP. We'll give you more information on this further down the line.

Q: When you’re in time-attack mode, will you be able to customize your own bike and bike suit, like in 2007?

A: Indeed you can. You can use your Career bike in Time Trial, Career and Multiplayer modes.

Q: I want to see the ability to create your own player (look, name, etc)?

A: There will be a certain amount of Rider customisation as part of Career mode.

Q: Can you create a custom team and create your own bike, get your own sponsor (Create your own sponsor or use an existing sponsor and brand)?

A: As above, but you guys do have very similar thoughts. We will be able to confirm more on this topic later in product cycle.

Q: As you start to get into the top 10, do you start to get recognized by big sponsors, allowing you to buy a better engine, chassis , etc?

A: Once again, as above. We're planning on creating afull Video QA on arcade mode very soon!

Q: You mentioned ‘rider tuck in’. I understand the point of tucking behind the faring to minimize drag. This feature also exists in Gp1-07. So how does this differ from past games?

A: The main difference is that tuck in is now an action. Rider position is automatic. So taking normal riding, without tuck-in, the rider will lean forward on acceleration a little, back on breaking and get his knee down in corners. Tucking in forces the rider to be as tight as possible to the tank, not even letting the knee down in the corners. The difference is the bike will handle differently based on the riders position. Tucked in you will be tighter, for finer adjustments on the straights, un-tucked will be loser for nailing it though the chicanes. The riders position will now have a real impact on how the bike feels and handles, rather than a arbitrary acceleration or breaking power boost.

Q: I want to see the option, as in SBK2001 that if you crash your bike, you pick it up and get going again, not just the morph back on track.

A: We have an interesting feature which we'll show a preview soon! However, crashing will become much more exciting than the previous versions of the game.

Q: Please include the option to be able to rewind a replay?

A: Yes we will!

Q: In previous versions the heads-up-display, they would give you the names and gaps of the riders directly in-front and behind you (both on-line and off-line). Any chance you guys can implement this in 09/10, or consider this for 11?

A: We will certainly look into this for you, especially as it appears to be so important to you guys!

Hi,

My wish for this game is that it have a complete split screen mode game. I think that MotoGP08 would have had more exit if it have a split screen mode.

However, I think that this MotoGP09/10 must have a split screen mode like MotoGP4 of Namco; that is to say, a split screen mode with all options of one player game:

- Races with all riders (not 6 like MotoGP07)
- Complete world standing
- Complete World Champion (all the races)
- All the sessions (FP1, FP2, FP3, QP, Warm UP and Race). If it is not possible, only QP mode.
- Variable weather.

If the game have this things, I think that MotoGP09/10 will be the best game of motorbikes that world have ever seen.

Many thanks for read me.

Best regards,
Tkk69

Thx Steve, starting to get the picture here:)Im still a little sceptical about the rider tuck in,and feel like is this really nessesary, but hopefully I will be able to assign any function to any button, and work it into my configuration without it being too awkward.Other than that lots of intresting answers here.I toke special notice of the part about making the crashes more intresting/spectacular.I whould love for some cool looking near crashes too where the bike whooble all over the place, and the rider is like halfway of the bike. You know its when you almost fall but gets away with it thats feels the best.

Hi..im from Indonesia
i've been follow motogp franchise since 500cc games until now, i think there is always be plus n minus things in the game, for example the in motogp 07(THQ) x360 base the gameplay is fantastic, but the game detail is poor, in motogp 08(milestone) x360 base the gameplay poor but the bike detail n the official of the game (graphic that shown riders grid, track detail) is very much like we seen on TV, i think its fantastic, it felt so official.
then when i see the trailer of motogp 09/10(monumental) i think the gameplay fine, but the official detail not shown well...n i hope this year game will be the fusion of motogp 07 gameplay with the detail of official graphic of motogp 08....thanks for the attention

motogp rocks!!! :mexwave:
