I think you should be aware that your poll allows for multiple selections. You might get banana republic style voting results.

Yeah! I have some goose-fat for roast potatoes :) Yum

I did not know that potatoes were a member of the deadly nightshade family. Interesting.
I do know that in America, tomatoes were considered poisonous for a long time. I think it's related to something else poisonous.

Wikipedia: "It is possible that some people continued to think tomatoes were poisonous at this time; and in general, they were grown more as ornamental plants (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ornamental_plant) than as food. Thomas Jefferson (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Jefferson), who ate tomatoes in Paris (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paris), sent some seeds back to America."

It says that they're a member of the nightshade family too!

Yeah, tomatoes used to be a taboo fruit. They were known as devil's apples.

I have just realised i know an awful lot of really useless information about fruit and vegetables.

A long time ago, I was dubbed as the potato king (Not the King Of The Potato People, not to be confused with Arnold Rimmer's insanity. (Obscure TV reference.)) as sort of an in-joke on a forum for claiming to be "The new admin - Of their potatoes" on a nonsense sub-section, since the whole admin thing lead to confusion lead to the people assuming I really was the admin, they called me the "Potato King" instead.

This isn't an unfounded title, I quite like potatoes, I'm a sucker for a good sunday roast, chips, hotpots et cetera.

Hah, I was going to say, although prior to reading the topic, I thought Soop listed particular types of potato.

Red Dwarf :)

Roast potatoes are winning; raw potato unpopularity confirmed.

But you need a magic carpet in order to go plead with the king of the potato people for your life surely?
