hi my names scott. im from the uk but for some reason i always check the US site. anyway, ive been contributing to a thread thats afew weeks old. we are trying to get a revival of outbreak onto XBL and PSN. we have a thread
http://www.capcom-unity.com/resident_evil/go/thread/view/7391/18679115/Resident_Evil_Outbreak_Discussion&post_num=2424#332821037
that is going strong. we just need more members. so as well as making your voice heard here (if you want to support the game that is) then people can post from this site over there and from over there to here. we have got the attention of everyone at capcom, now all we need to do is show them how bad we all want the game. i hope you all show support. also, outbreak file one would now be online as well as file 2 WHEN they are ported lol. hope to see some of you on there soon.
scott
Ports? No thank you. Maybe, just maybe if they were for PSP. Otherwise I don't see much point.
Not for psp, but a file #3 for PS3/Xbox360 would be nice. Then I can finally play online! :matrix:

i think file 3 would be good to develop but as i havent played on the first 2 i think they would be a great addition to the xbox live arcade (not sure if ps3 have a similar system)

yeah ps3 has PSN. if these were released and sold well enough we could then get a file 3. they are not wanted to be ported for ports sake, they are wanted for a simple reason! we will be able to play online agian with dedicated servers if we got the ports! also, we have had 6 websites in the past 2 days showing their support to the cause. lets hope we can really bring this to the fans! 4player co - op in the hellish racoon city with zombies! OH YEAH! lol
I don't really understand what you mean by 'We've got the attention of Capcom' because from mine and many other people's experiences with Capcom, they don't tend to listen to a bunch of people calling for a specific game to be pulled from the fire.....we already tried pretty desperately in 2007 when the life support was pulled.
If there is any real possibility that Capcom will listen, I'd be all for it, but after two years and a new console generation, I don't believe Capcom would see this as a good business decision despite the obvious end user benefits.
Well, I doubt anything will come of it, I think the only demand comes from nostalgia, and that distorts plenty, Online games have been improved far beyond the likes of outbreak, a re-release would be a set back, and a remake isn't required, whilst a sequel is possible, that will more than likely be overshadowed by RE:Portable, if it ever goes online a lá Monster Hunter.
And besides, they would have to "remake" or release a sequel from the ground up, since its unlikely that the mechanics of the PS2 era could possibly stand up to todays market.
Re-mastery of both games on a single disc is possible, but unlikely, since the online play would be far worse than most games out, it would not bode well at all by modern standards, even if they where to include better comunications, broken mechanics and suchlike would ruin the experience.
Tell me, how long has it been since you've actually played Outbreak? can you honestly say that a game released for PS2 can hold its own against the likes of Left 4 Dead?
I can tell you that the last time I played the first game was today, and indeed all week. That's not to be a smartass, far from it- it's the truth. For all it's dodgy AI and lack of online, Outbreak is the meat and bones of an excellent and creative title that was ahead of its time- the spark of which was the human element to the co-operative gameplay. It's entirely possible that a remake in the same vein as Battlefield 1943 (AKA: Upgrading the gameplay and fixing what was broken while retaining what was exciting about the original.) could work, but only with a little care and attention instead of company oversight, assumptions and apathy, which marked the Outbreak series' release, operation and eventual decline.
The problem is, weighing up wether that would be good business- Resident Evil six isn't due for three to four years at least, that's a hell of a void to fill- and instead of letting a gap in the market open, Capcom would be as well looking at it's options- including a new Outbreak title that could possibly sustain the original levels of the first two games through paid Downloadable content.
Do they want to? We don't know. Could they make it? Yes. Will they? I don't think so. Do I want it and would I pay for it? In a heartbeat.
EDIT: AAHHH!! I forgot about the Left 4 Dead question, sorry about that. I definately think that Outbreak in a way was almost a precursor to Left 4 Dead in that the co-op and intentions are similar; I don't think they looked at Outbreak for influence, but rather let their pedigree as a PC developer (Valve I mean.) drive them creatively. Left 4 Dead's strength is run and gun tactical gameplay rather than atmosphere, puzzles, and a slower pace. Both have the emphasis on teamwork and tactical use of the chat systems as well as climactic boss fights that require the whole team to watch each others backs in order to complete the objective. Left4Dead appeals to shooter fans and horror fans and is a truly unique title in my opinion- in order to compete (If we could call it that since they may not necessarily be competitiors depending on wether Capcom wanted this to be an Arcade title, or a full title.) Capcom would need simply to approach any new game with the same creative spark. There's no reason people will not buy a new Outbreak because Left 4 Dead is better or because Left 4 Dead even exists- they're different games after all, I believe it comes down to giving the customer the best possible experience at the time, and Outbreak ticked a lot of boxes in that respect- all it needed was some TLC, some promotion and for Capcom to act on their plans to expand on the game. All a new game really needs to sell these days is 'Resident Evil' but it's what's under the hood that would determine success or failure in this era.

this is the actual reason why i came to capcom's site, this would be an incredible game to release to PSN and Xbox Live Arcade. and i think alot of people would buy it if it were a touched up version of the ps2 games. resident evil online co-op for 4 - 6 people. it would be a massive hit!
Not for psp, but a file #3 for PS3/Xbox360 would be nice. Then I can finally play online! :matrix:
yes! outbreak file#3 4 ps3 AND psp remakes of files 1+2 for adhock/ online play
i think re portable is gonna go down that route anyway
