I am surprised no on has posted this.
Konami have given it a June 12th for US and europe.
They said a while ago it would be simultaneous world-wide release.
A world-wide release, ha!
Never!
They need to make sure the Japanese people get it first, then the rest of the world, it could never be released all over at the same time.
The USA have had both versions of MGS 2 and both versions of MGS 3 before Japan as its a bigger game in the west than the east.
Its like when europe got Silent Hill 3 first as 1 & 2 sold better in europe.

Strange Blu-Ray is only 25GB due to being restricted to a single layer for games & films due to production problems with the dual layer disc.
Or that was the problem, could be wrong hell probably am wrong as I have not been following blu-ray or HD-DVD for ages as I could not careless TBH.
Yes I know blu-ray has won the disc war but my cash is on digital downloads.
I know all ps3 games I own are only 25GB in size.
But if size was a problem then the answer is use more than one disc like MGS 1 instead of cutting corners to get the game to fit on one disc.

Its indeed June 12th - and it seems reasonable, too. 50 GB is correct as well (check this (http://www.blu-ray.com/faq/#bluray_capacity_data) handy FAQ). Please use the already exisiting MGS4 topic (http://capcom-europe.com/forums.aspx?g=posts&t=89), unless you intend to open specific ones (with specific titles).

Do you want to show proof of that? Somehow I disagree since its only now theyre changing the way we play it with Mr. Paytons partial input so its more accessible to a western audience.
EU gets it so much later. MGO servers were phenomenal in Japan, decent in the US and ok to start off with in EU but then got dead pretty quickly. I dunno bout PO in JP but the US and EU ones are a lil empty.
As for MGS2, it didnt receive well despite classic ratings...there were niggles and while it sold well, 3 didnt sell near as much (thats not including Subsistence tho, so it may have changed now).
I dont see THAT many changes in 4 from the spoilers n teasers but there are a few to warrant differences between how Western and Eastern gamers play.
Are you sure Konami have announced 12th of June for Europe? While I heard that Japan will have a beta of MGO with MGS4 in May-June, maybe a lil longer, the US has been announced as June. However it didnt mention Europe despite the supposed worldwide release. Some guy in GAME told my girlfriend Nov/Xmas...but they dont know ****.

You were right, MGS2 and 3 were released in US before Japan, I was wrong.
3 wasnt for EU, we got it much later.
Still, sales wise?
Maybe Mr. Payton just trash talks to fill up time while we wait and wait for this elusive finale.
like i said I was not 100% certain on 3.
Sales no idea I was only recalling what I could remember of what was said at one of the big game conference a few years ago when some chap from konami said it was a bigger game in the west along with Silent Hill. The video will be knocking around somewhere.

UPDATE: Konami has officially confirmed what it has long promised; June 12 will not only see the game hit shelves in North America, but also the rest of the world. This will come as a relief to European gamers in particular, who have had to wait six months to a year after the US release of recent MGS games to get their hands (officially, at least) on Solid Snake.
Sweet! 3 months, I think im almost having a heartattack.

Metal Gear Solid 4 is the sole reason people are going to buy a PS3. I wonder how would PS3 do it after its done. Its almost the only game I am looking forward to besides Final Fantasy XIII. This Metal Gear Solid better be the last & must conclude a satisfying end :)

I got bored playing 2 then got 3 and got bored playing that one neither has been completed so as much as I like the look of 4 I am unsure about buying it as will I get bored with it? If so will it end up on the bored unplayed list as 2 & 3 did.
MGS1 on PS1 was the last MGS i did not bore off and completed many times.

Well I completed the both games MGS 2 & 3 in about 3-days at max. The storyline was so intresting that it didnt let me go ;) And Ive played all of the Metal Gear Solid titles multiple time. Although I havent played any recently but I would like to if I get the time that is. I think it takes approx 3 hrs and something to finish the MGS3 if you skip all the cut-scenes in the game. :)

You skip the cut scenes the game becomes pointless as you loose the story.

MGS onlie BETA will be available from PSN for europe on the 17 April the servers will be switched on on the 21st April and will run until May 6th

Man! I gotta get this game but i dont have a ps3 yet.
bleep bleep bleep trying to get the Konami ID for this beta is bleep hard due to the servers being flooded.
took me 4 hours to download the patch to the game bleep bleeep bleep
Took me 5 mins to download the patch, but bloody 8 hours for it to even start. And I too cannot get a Konami ID thanks to it being too busy. Aragh.
Got ID YAY 4.20 this morning
I tried around that time too, and every email I tried to use it kept saying it was already used for a konami ID >_<
that blows.

I can I just shouldnt. But really a huge patch and its downloading at 13KB/s. P.s trying to get a ID is annoying me. Put in my name age etc then it just comes up with an error page.
Yes getting the ID is a pain.
Whats your NAT TYPE connection for your PS3 if is 2 or 3 you will struggle with peer 2 peer downloading
I believe that it is 3...Is there a way to change it? And without stopping what I have downloaded or getting it back quicker?
if you can direct connect to the modem instead of a router.
if you cancel the download it will carry on from the place you stopped it at when you restart.
Managed to get an ID finally. Had an idea to disable auto loading of images in firefox, and that seemed to cut down the transmission times and got my ID on first try.
I keep getting an error that says

The Beta has been suspended as they stabilises the servers.
An announcement will be made tomorrow on the servers and the Beta being open again
Servers are scheduled to be up on Friday now ...
cool. they have also extended the beta by 5 days due to not having it working atm
