I find it strange considering that FFXI is on the console already. But meh, hopefully they will get around it so everyone can experience.
(Though to be honest I'm not particularly interested >_>)
Anyone know if this is a direct sequel to 11, or if it's a completely different story in Vana Diel (Di'el?)?
If it's a separate story, I just might go for it.
Also, anyone know if we have to have a subscription this time? It's the only thing that kept me from buying 11...they might as well throw in a single player version, where all the online people are actually computer controlled. If they can't do that, for whatever reason, they could even release a single player disk. I think it would be as popular as the multiplayer version...well, maybe less so (because 11 has built up a multiplayer fan base).
!!!The single player disk could include a local multiplayer option, so that it is still multiplayer.
Square would make sales from both the online game fans and the offline game fans. T'would be grand all round, methinks.
Sorry if that was a wee bit off topic.
apparently xbox LIVE is hindering the XIV development......
anyone know how?

The game is set in Eorzea, some new area as far as I know.
Also, just like Final Fantasy XI, it will most likely have subscription fees and a lack of offline play. With Final Fantasy XIII coming out in the same year (next year), there is no need to have Final Fantasy XIV come with a dedicated single player experience alongside a fully-fledged online one.
Basically, you get your option of single player or multiplayer focus next year with either Final Fantasy XIII or Final Fantasy XIV.

It states in the link i posted.
PSN and PC are more of a open network and XBL is a closed network.
360 has FFXI so i can see it coming in the futer
i meant, how because it is a closed network have to do with release dates and production? there are plenty of online games for xbox that didn't have a setback like this..
perhaps because it is massively multiplayer? does that have to do with anything?

Yes as FFXIV will work on a open network which means cross platform play.
Square Enix wants everybody on PSN, PC and XBL to be able to play togther on FFXIV like PS2, PC and XBL play togther on FFXI.
But Microsoft are not keen on this idea so they need convincesing
ooooooooooh.
i thought it would be separate for each console, that makes sense now. well that's a nice surprise, i'll be able to see my friends who only have xbox.
thanks enix!

you would be able to play with them also on the games.
I used to play FFXI on 360 and play with a freind in the US who played it on Ps2 and also some of my freinds who had it on PC.

Makes sense. Especially since the players who like to play RPGs on their own will get FF13 Versus too. No point complaining, eh?
