Can anyone tell me why this message is showing ? and how it works?
I intend to contact Phillips (my TV Brand) and tell them about this
its nothing just skip this warning it just says you that you must config your tv for the best viewing picture your game will work perfectly!
I have the same problem, but with an old tv!
Its not true that it doesnt have any impact on the game . in fact it makes many problems come up that are normaly dont exist!
Everytime I run around in Devil May Cry 4 in open places or larger rooms (while not fighting) it seems as though the background cant keep up with the characters movements - the framerate constantly chugs.
My PS3 is connected to my sony tv (not HD, old) with a very good RGB Cable (the normal one) with 100 Hz.
All the time Ive been playing so far I never had any problems with any other game on any console.
I thought my copy my be broken so I bought another one but its the same thing.
Everytime I start up the game I get a special notification screen saying:
Colors may be not correct or there may be a delay between your controller input and the charater movement. Please check your TV settings.
I tried everything but it didnt work!
Please try to find a solution.
Thank you

Thats not completely true, with my brand new full HD TV, i get an incredible latency before the commands i give with the pad go to the screen.
I tested this with everybodys golf world tour and its incredible how the picture lags its almost impossible to play when youre in the bunker and the cursor moves too fast. Before with my previous TV, this problem didnt occur :-(
I did go to a friends house to do some tests with his full HD TV and though he has the same warning with DMC4, there is no lag between the pad and the screen.
I just bought an expensive FULL HD TV and its useless for gaming.... how lame.
That still doesnt explain why DMC4 displays this message !!!

Do you have the same problem with other PS3 or 360 games?
Yes, after some invesigations, i finally understand that the TV has great latency, with anything, i tried with my old PS2 and the same problem occurs.
But anyway, i still would like to know why there is this warning message.
Is it showing as long you dont enter options and configure the screen or is it displayed because the game itself can do some checks and discover that there is a problem ?
yeah maybe but how to solve the problem? I gonna look for that and try some solutions... . I update for you soon.
More information is needed:
how are you connected to the HDTV? HDMI, Component, RGB scart etc.
what are your PS3 display settings on? 720p, 1080i, 1080p?
NaughtyJ, your problem with a standard TV is the refresh rate.
Ive tested that the game only works smoothly at 60Hz, so if you own a Xbox 360 and a TV that supports 60Hz, youre lucky, as the 360 supports PAL60. If you own a PS3, youll not see constant framerate, only jerky movements, as it only supports PAL50, which you also notice at 100Hz (I recommend you to set the TV to 50Hz if it supports it for smoother animations).
For those with PS3 and SDTV, I only see two possible solutions:
1. Sony implements PAL60 on the next firmware update
2. Capcoms developers take into account that in Europe, TV standard is PAL 50Hz (not everyone owns a HDTV nowadays), since after I discovered this, I see that DMC4 isnt the only game with this problem.

Its HDMI of course
My display supports every mode possible, 25 30 50 60 even 24p with 1080 and the same with 720 (perhaps not 24p)
But the game runs in 720p and i cant tell the frequency since my TV doesnt display it.
Im playing on an HD monitor with my xbox 360.
I get this message, but havent noticed any major issues par a tad of tearing when I move to quickly, but I got used to this in dead rising so It doesnt bother me.
Though the background looked horrible in parts of the jungle area, just the way the shadows looked.

Right, but like I asked, whats you output resolution in the display settings? Also, whats the model of your Phillips.

Tearing will happen if you dont run the game in its default output resolution (ie 720p in Dead Risings case).
Its a 37PFL9632D/10 Philips TV
The output settings on the PS3 is 1080p, but i tested it with 1080i and 720p and i get the same message.
