No I dont *beeb* like it! Such a bullpoop to me. I mean, cmon. Whats with the MGS codec rip-off, for first?
Im Leon, I went to agent training and now I can do cool kicks and I have a rappel and gogles, both of them I use once or twice! Im so cool!
Also, Better use knife in cloce range etc. Hmm... Who does that remind me of... Oh I dont know... SNAKE! Another MGS rip-off. And, wheres the horror? No, being in dark isnt horror. You need creepy music and scary enemĦes. No, villangers, munks and miners arent scary.
About the only thing I liked was the Left hand (although it was Alien rip-off) and Mercenaries minigame.
Oh, yah. It was SURVIVAL horror. So no horror, its survival? Right? Well no. Only in Pro there was few times I almost felt survival.
The storyline actually tarted where you saw Ada first time. Then there was nothing untill you saw Ada again. And nothing after that untill the last boss, and Ada& Wesker.
OK, if I think this as non-resi game, there is few things I like. Camera (but I liked the original, as its like in a horror flick). Then graphics are quite Ok. If you really like it, theres much to do. Collect many super weapons and minigames.

You arnt supposed to enjoy them, youre supposed to be scared shittles. Close the windows, put off the lights, Unplug your phone, dimmen the screen and put Resident Evil in. Espacially, if its first time you play that game, I can guarantee you will get scared. Especially in the dark room completely alone... YOu even might start thinking are actually alone?

Who dares to speak so badly about Resident Evil 4? :p

I like it, the story, the movement, especially the separate ways. As IGN.com said, I will quote them once again.

Ladies and gentlemen the best survival horror game ever made.

Numberless rewards and winnings can confirm that. If you can point to some better RE game, please let me know.

I love the game. Its not the best Resi game imo, but its a brilliantly addictive game. If there were a few more puzzles, then it may have turned into my favourite Resi. But no.

The game is fine, its Resident Evil after all and its not bad. Maybe not as good as Umbrella Chronicles or just RE2, but good anyways. Of course not the PC version. It lacks of style and has awful controlling.

Its like comparing the old three Star Wars films with the new ones, sure Resi 4 isnt bad - but is it as good as the original games?

I think not.

oh and btw, Steve Burnside would be the Jar Jar Binks of the Resident Evil universe

Ive never played the Wii version, but I enjoyed RE4 the most on my Gamecube when it was released for the first time. I did not enjoy it really, it felt really disappointing as it had the name Resident Evil slapped on it.
after RE5, I want Capcom to return to the old game play, and not so much action. I just hate killing 10 zombies at once. I just love when youre fighting 1 zombie for life.. SPECIALLY in RE Outbreak. its so fun hitting them with iron pipe, then dodge them with Jim. takes about 2 minutes to defeat.

Its a slightly modified ego/third person shooter, which includes its story. Horrible writing, as far as Im concerned. Survival, to a siginificant degree, means management of limited resources. Even on Professional I ended up constantly selling ammunition and to a lesser extent healing items. It also wasnt about the environment anymore. The series lost its personality and effectively switched to a different genre.

Most of the standard RE games are better. In fact, RE isnt much of a RE game to begin with.

On a sidenote, whats your problem, Ice? If you have one contact me or another official (via PM), if you dont have one dont complain.

Even on Professional I ended up constantly selling ammunition and to a lesser extent healing items. It also wasnt about the environment anymore. The series lost its personality and effectively switched to a different genre.
2 possible reasons for this.
1.) You played terribly and the game made it easier for you by giving you more.
2.) You were playing a PAL version.

This is the biggest thing Ive noticed in the PAL version of Resident Evil 4. I got a promo of the PAL version after playing the import, and I was astounded at the differences between versions. The US version is notably harder because there is a lot LESS stuff available to the player, as well as weapons doing less damage too. An interesting fact to consider when assessing the game.

So, as for me? I enjoyed it. Not as a Resident Evil title though. I was happy with Ada, Wesker and Leons involvement in the story but truth be told, you could replace them with cookie-cutter characters and the game would still be the same. Regardless, Im hoping RE5, although gameplay wise it wont be anything like the classic REs, will incorporate a more Resident Evil centric storyline.

But yeah, RE4 US -> RE4 PAL, mainly because it retained the survival component, especially in Professional mode.

On another side not - I found the PS2 version EVEN EASIER when released, though Im not sure if that was because I was accustomed to the game by then SO much.

1) If I had been performing terribly chances are I wouldnt have been constantly selling ammunition and to a lesser extent healing items. Nice try, though, I assume.
2) Thats indeed the case. Both ones, Gamecube and PS2.

Do you have a source that goes into detail as to the differences between PAL, US and, possibly, Japanese versions, or is that something you merely think is the case? Same for the adjusted item distribution.

Best Survival Horror game? The guys at IGN dont have a clue. Its called Action Survival, maybe Action Shooter. Scores and rewards means jack to fans. A longtime fan always, and I say always have a very different opinion than reviewers.

It was a game that survived in my mind as it was hyped, I enjoyed it as a laugh, a pick up and go game.

But it was shallow. Had little story or anything real going for it.

its not the best re game, infact its not even a particurly good game.

However its accessible, your common gamer can pick it up and enjoy it with their low IQ. This couldnt be done with the other re games, because resident evil was practically a cult series. It had a large cult following of obsessive fans, and this was enough to keep it going. RE4 was made to fit in with the new style of moronic games that seem to be appearing everywhere. The shoot, and blow em up type that seem so popular to those of little intelligence. and thus it sold well and got good reviews.

I agree to the first comment.

The PS2 version had a little more depth and interest with Seperate Ways.

As you said, pick up n go. Its alright. Theres other games that do it better.

-I wouldnt agree to best original score or anything. Neither did it deserve Best Story...

Deserved best GC game at the time. Was accessible.

P.s. Valentine all the sources you provide are online publications. IGN, GameSpot, GameSpy.

FF, Mario, Zelda, etc. characters always make it to the end of GFAQs character battle but look at their demographic..and I dunno who are worse, GSpot or GFaqs users.

Well you wouldve received that excessive ammo BECAUSE of that reason.

As for the differences? Well the adjusted item distribution - the best source is the BradyGames Official Guide by Dan Birlew.

For the actual change in differences between the PAL and NTSC versions, the Japanese and US versions are identical while the European versions were made easier. Its the same with Devil May Cry 3, which was notably easier if you played a PAL version over the NTSC version. The only proof I can provide outside of dead website links is that received from simple trials. IE. More bullets are required to down an enemy in the US version over the PAL version.

So, one performs terribly, gets a whole lot of ammunition (and to a lesser extent healing itmes), then doesnt use but sell it, then continues to perform terribly and makes it through the whole game like this? I seriously doubt thatd work, or make sense.

On a sidenote, as far as I know the order of DMC 3s diff. lvls is this: US-PAL-JAP. If thats in fact true then I wonder about the divergence when compared to RE 4.

That aside, did you find the US version(s) challenging (enough)?

So survival that there is someone on every small village corner willing to sell you fire arms and ammunition, breaking the countries gun laws in the process.

I love Resident Evil 4 on ps2 because on the ps2 is the easy control and the game is graphically simple perfect.Resident Evil 4 is a Surrival-horror game where you lots of fun while shooting. The weapons are perfectly everything is perfect.:) b)

Okay so the storyline wasnt as good as the others and the survivalaspect was lost but the new style works well and it is bloody terrifying.

By selling the your ammunition, you got money. More Money -> Game Thinks You Are Doing Too Welll -> Reduces Difficulty. Makes enough sense.

As for the differences, well heres the breakdown for me. From hardest to easiest.

RE4 GCN (US) & biohazard4 (GCN & PS2) -> RE4 GCN (PAL) -> RE4 PS2 (US) -> RE4 PS2 (PAL) -> All Wii Versions

Either I was getting better as I tried the games, though I also know for a fact I died ALOT MORE when I played the American versions, which naturally were released earlier too.
