Since Sony and Blu-ray have won the war (or so it seems) what will happen to the 360 will there be a new microsoft console. As a Sony and Playstion fan i am obviosly happy lol but i have heard a rumor that xbox 360 games will be on 5 discs in a few years as they cant take as much data as blu-rays can anybody confirm this (or shall i say the fall of the 360)??????

Oh please. The (and/or a possible future) domination of Blu-Ray is a plus for the PS3 and Sony (and as such negative for Microsoft). While it may have been a serious blow (who knows what they had planned for CES), it hardly means the fall of the 360.
I assume that before games would have to come on more than two discs - as a standard (i.e. excluding RPGs) - a new Xbox will launch (~ 2010, possibly). Microsoft may offer a (external) Blu-Ray drive for the 360, too. Chances are not for games, though.

Its not really that big a deal - the 360 is doing fine at the moment without the bluray, though I think the lack of a mandatory hard drive is more of a problem. As for discs, Lost Odyssey (which is brilliant, btw) is a full 4 discs. I doubt well see a lot of multi-disc games besides RPGs, as Seven mentioned, before a new revision of hardware comes out.
Microsoft can always buy the technology off Sony and use it in their console, though that would be extremely expensive. The next step they could also undertake is develop their own proprietry media, like Nintendo have done for the Gamecub and Wii, or Sega with the Dreamcast. (I see the irony in that 2/3 of these consoles didnt fare too well, but its just a suggestion).
No, because the xbox 360 is aimed mostly at teenagers and obsessive gamers.
Currently all of the games are on normal cds, and theyre not even touching the hd dvd for games.
I dont own any multi disk games, and they managed to get oblivion on one disc, and the expansion packs went on the hard drive.
So id say xbox is pretty safe.

Yeesh, this is a non-issue folks. The fact that blu-ray won the so-called HD war does not factor in on the XBOX 360. Games will continue to be made for the 360 using the existing DVD9 and multiple DVD9 (like that recent RPG game). Compare the games on blu-ray to the games on DVD9; no one really cares much about the increased storage space and so on.
By your rationale, then this has been an issue since the PS3 launch due to no games being on 360 HD-DVD, and not simply now due to this end of the HD war. Over the last year, has it made any difference to the 360 GAMES?
Had HD-DVD won the hd war, then 360 games would STILL be on DVD and PS3 games would STILL be on blu-ray.

Anyway, on the Blu ray subject, it was pretty damm obvious that HD-DVD was gonna fail ever since it first announced, Microsoft supported it because sony had blu ray and they didnt want to flat out copy sony. this was obviously a dumb idea.
HD-DVD failing though has nothing to do with games because 360 doesnt use HD-DVDs they use DVD9s which is a dual layered DVD, (not a regular CD ahahaha, viper) So in the end its just the same argument that was going around when it was PS2 and xbox, PS2 was a good games console with media capabilities, Xbox was just a games console with superior online capabilities and its still like that with 360 and PS3.

You should think about that again.
Like already stated, this wont affect 360 very much as at the end of the day, games are games, and its a matter of preference. However, that said, this will also come in big favor for Sony as many will probably go for the PS3 than a stand-alone Blu-Ray player, seeing as you get more hardware with less money. -That obviously increase the user base, which can give Sony a big boost, and then again become more attractive for thirdparties to work with. But either way, you cant go wrong with any of todays consoles. You just have to go with whatever floats your boat.

Ive been working practically solidly today, yesterday and the day before. Long shifts, and lots to do. Ended up giving up my lunch break today to sort out some stuff.

Im not going to argue that halo 3 is 1 a good game and 2 sold tons(far more than ps3 games) but 1 thing PS3 can say is that it doesnt have to rely on one game as it has many great games such as Drakes uncharted and as for the wii yes it does have a cool game play and i want one but the fact the graphics are not HD and there are no adult games as such yet except for the R.E games. As you probably can tell Im PS3 loyal and crazy so i obviolsy recon that the other consoles are worse than the PS3

What happend to the people who used to play games because they where fun?
At the end of the day both Microsoft and Sony continue to support their own systems, as they would have done if Blu-Ray went belly up instead of HD-DVD.

2008 is the fall of 360. are there any great games coming soon to 360? nope. well, I bought my 360 because of Perfect Dark Zero, Dead Rising and XBA games.. thats it. but I felt they were too few, so Im buying Gears of War too and already have Halo 3. still, 360 has nothing thats too interesting IMO.. PS3 will have Tekken 6 and MGS4.. those 2 are so bad ass that theres no friggin way Im ever gonna skip PS3. also Wii.. I couldnt live without Brawl and Metroid Prime 3.

As for the Halo 3 malarkey, no matter what you look it at nothing on PS3 will out sell it.... it could but I highly highly doubt it. its nothing to do with being a fanboy. the game sold more copies then the 3 best selling PS3 games combined in its first week. not a single PS3 game has managed to sell even a million in its first week. I dont think even Metal Gear Solid 4 will hit those kinda numbers.
Software sales is what the PS3 (and Wii) are struggling with.....and the fall of HD-DVD aint gonna change that.

Well games such as Lost Odyssey - which are big games and utilise a hefty amount of FMV, soundtrack etc. have to use extra discs - although I think this may actually be the only example to date on 360 (anyone else know of any multi-disc 360 games? Not counting Special Editions)
But this has always been the case - FFVII was on 3 discs, Myst - that was on 5 CDs IIRC, and its never been a problem. It just means you get a cool bulky package when you buy the game. And every 15 hours of gameplay you might have to get off your arse to change discs.
No its not failure. If people say its failure because of Red rings of doom or other problems, they were only problem in the first and second wave of 360s. And, online capabilities are much better than ps3s (dont know about wii). Yeah, you have to pay if you wanna play online, but because someone gets paid, the service works much better.
And most games are multiplatform, but then there is exclusives on all consoles.

Its not about quality posts here. While individual posts Ice made may be uninformed and partially incorrect he is still, in general, free to contribute his opinion. I do not think he is trolling either, which doesnt mean that his posts cant be irritating. Im not defending his specifc opinion, Im defending him as an user. Youre free to criticize and correct what he wrote. However, the past is the past. What he may have done during the old forums days is irrelevant. Im not willing to allow the continuation or creation of a flame war.
Once again, I appreciate constructive criticism and being controlled. Please do not post it in the middle of a topic, though. Contact me, (one of) the other moderators or an administrator. Seems like your also forgeting that Too Human and Ninja Gaiden 2 (as well as GOW2 and Fable 2) are all 360 exclusive, as well as some exclusive content for GTA 4 are all avaliable this year. Dont write it off yet.
The PS3s problem is that currently all the best games avaliable for that console are avaliable on the 360, this will change in time - and yes MGS4 will be great. Tekken is way overated imo, I grew up playing Street Fighter 2 so Im not going to throw myself at some game which requires cheap button bashing to win (Eddy Gordo, Im looking in your direction) and Virtua Fighter (again, mulit-format) is the better of the two series. Racing games just dont intrest me (except Mario Kart) so I probably wont buy Gran Turismo either. The big game for the PS3 will ofc be the new Final Fantasy (which will be awesome). All the other exclusives on the PS3 dont really intrest me (though Ive probably missed one), so Ill probably only buy those two.
Ive not really looked into the Wii, as I never seem to have a go on it - but if anyone will like to remove my family members away from the console so I can at least get 10 minutes Ill be most gratefull.
I could afford a ps3, I considered it, but In the end Id rather spend my hard earner money on camera gear.

There are plenty of good games coming out on the xbox this year, rainbow 6 vegas 2 and gow 2 to think of a couple. Plus weve just had dmc4 as has the playstation3.
The xbox360 has got a solid fanbase, so shall not be falling soon. You are a fool if you honestly believe that.

Anyhow, I am not a fanboy, and I dont care which console comes out on top. I chose xbox because the games appealed to me. I didnt want blu ray or fancy graphics, just the games. And thats what Ive got. I love the games available to me, and I can easily fill my budget with games (I let myself get 1 game a month, cause Im cheap like that, I work 25 hours a week and go to college so money isnt an issue, its just I dont like spending huge amounts on something like that) I dont think that blu ray/HD was ever going to seal the fate of either console, though it did boost the ps3 in the minds of some people who were not neccesarily gamers (like one of my coworkers has a ps3 as it doubles up as a blu ray player, and he enjoys it)
But its nothing that will end the battle
Both of the consoles are banging but i think XBox 360 has the better games.
And sorry I dont expect much of Final fantasy because FF 12 really really rrreeeeaaalllyyyy sucked.

I WAS at college, only it was far away from home, so I always had to waste like a friggin hour coming home. that... Reykjavik Technical College I was in it, but I was studying thing I didnt even want to study, like autoCAD or whatever it was.
but now Im able to move to the same college that my bro is in, but instead Ill wait a half year, working so I can get at least money to buy a 360 and PS3, then Ill return to school.
