Interesting.

It all seems a bit early and rushed, but very interesting indeed.

Fable 3 sounds like it could be great, especially with the inclusion of other lands...though I'm wondering how much of the game will be taken up by ruling the country? I don't want to have to ignore quests for hours on end, just to tell my subjects how much tax they have to pay.

I'll be keeping an eye on this.

Looking good, can't wait for that. Also will be good to have more missions on Fable 2, really enjoying that game so far.

I thought that too...until I just read the Kotaku Article that basically says that the "Episodic Content" is actually just Fable 2 being released in 5 parts.

Snap, Fable III sounds fantastic. I really like games that implement a good/bad structure. The first Fable is the best Western RPG I've ever played and I'd be more than willing to get a 360 again for this franchise alone (with the amount of stuff you can do, these three games would last longer than 10+ other games).

I'm quite impressed with some of the news coming from the event so far.

I'm trying not to get my hopes up, everything to do with Fable so far has been overhyped, Fable 2 was effectively an upgrade from the first game, not a total overhaul, the choice to "change the world" only altered two areas and the rather linear path lead to the same conclusion regardless as to wether or not your character was good or evil...

So I doubt they can make that much of a leap by 2010, but I'll watch it all the same.

That doesn't sound very hopeful :(.

I honestly don't see the point in re-releasing Fable 2 as episodic content considering they're also releasing a Game of the Year edition.

As for Fable 3, I can't wait. :)

Why not?

It's just another way of releasing the game...digital distribution.

The thing is you can pick up fable 2 on disk for as little as £10 now in some game shops.

I don't see the point in releasing it again as episodic content, and what will they charge per episode?.

If it's currently anywhere like the prices charged by Microsoft for it XBLA games 400pts + then i can't see this selling alot.

i can't see this selling alot.

It doesn't need to sell a lot though.

Digital Distribution is much cheaper than Physical Distribution. Basically, Lionhead have already been making profit off of the game, and will now make extra profit over any copies of Fable 2 they sell through Digital Distribution.

Anyone else disappointed by Microsoft's showing at GamesCom? They turned their conference in Molyneux' bloody dia slide.

Don't get me wrong, I'm actually looking forward to Fable 3. But this was a bad call on Microsoft's side, makes you think they shot their entire load at E3.

Maybe they are waiting for TGS?

Aye, Microsoft's focus is still on Japan so the Tokyo Game Show would be the ideal place to unleash big news that cater more towards that region. E3 had a big western vibe about it and to be frank, they didn't need to deliver as much with GamesCom.

Sure, Sony outclassed them with the PS3 Slim and a price cut but again, Microsoft didn't have to compete with these announcements (cheap and reliable 360s can be found on shelves). Also, Microsoft did a wonderful job with E3 and really only need to deliver the same quality at TGS for the perfect year in terms of global appeal. I don't think they ever considered GamesCom as a big platform. Besides, TGS is more important for them.

Still, Fable 3 is a big announcement as the series is an established one. A guaranteed 1m/2m sold right there.

If anything, give it time and see what happens at TGS. That will be a big event for any company, especially one trying to crack Japan which Microsoft would fall under.

T be perfectly honest, I didn't actually know about GamesCom until james posted this topic.

It certainly wasn't on my list of anticipated events...So I couldn't really care less who did the better show.

Mircosoft and Sony did good at E3, and hope they repeat the good-ness at TGS later in the year.

GamesCom I'm seeing as a nice little place where they announce 1 or 2 new things...which happen to be Fable 3, which is an awesome announcement.

Although I know Fable games are over-hyped, I don't care. I enjoyed the first two far less than it was hyped but more than all the nay-sayers said.

Fable 3 will be good, regardless of whether it reaches expectations or not. Sounds really interesting.

I just didn't listen to the hype.

Or, I listened to it...but didn't expect anything from it. So I was pleasently surprised when Fable 2 was nearly s good as Molyneaux promised.

Both Fable 1 & 2 are excellent games, if people would just get over their obsession with Molyneux's Hyperbole. Considering EVERY developer hypes up their game, and most don't follow through. Molyneux is just the most recognisable (because he puts a face and a name to the hype, rather than just a logo).
