View Full Version : Street Fighter Myths

I'm pretty sure most of these are untrue, but I had a guy that swore he was pro saying he'd done them all.

Golden Ha do ken (fire 99 in one match, and the 100th will be faster and take almost a full bar) I know that there was a glitch with the fireball sprite, and that Ken gained a... something ha do ken that flamed, but not that.

Vega's "Finishing move" in which he takes off his face mask and throws it like a shuriken

Complete a game without being hit and play as Goku (sounds like EGMs "play as Sheng Long" April Fool)

He also didn't seem to be aware of the SFII Guile trick, or a couple of other things I'd expect a pro to know.

So, my point is, are any of them true? And are there any other myths?

I doubt that one somehow, how could you actually fire 100 Hado Ken's in one match anyway? Ryu has a fast flaming Hado Ken attack but it is still a weak attack.

Vega's "Finishing move" in which he takes off his face mask and throws it like a shuriken

No such move exists. Vega can lose his claw in battle but not his mask.

Complete a game without being hit and play as Goku (sounds like EGMs "play as Sheng Long" April Fool)

Gouki (Akuma) or Gouken? Either way also rubbish. No requirement for unlocking a character has ever been to receive no hits whatsoever.

Your pro's a liar.

Thanks possessed, confirms what I thought.

I meant Gouki, got confused with Dragonball there.
Gouken is Sheng Long right? (as in Ryu and Ken's sensei) I can't remember which one he actually meant, but it's [please don't try to avoid the rules just by blanking out bits. It's preferable that you don't use swearwords at all. TZM] anyway.

I found this while I was looking. Not quite the myths I was looking for, but damn interesting. Did you know that Q appears on Kens stage in SFII?

Gouken's the modern translation for Sheng Long, that's correct (Mind you Sheng Long was a misunderstanding in the first place due to a translation error between Shoryuken and Rising Dragon Punch. Rising Dragon Punch can apparently be translated into Sheng Long in Chinese if memory serves correctly. This was then used for Ryu's winning quote "You must defeat Sheng Long to stand a chance" by accident), that's correct.

Forgot about Q on Ken's boat to be honest, mysterious:eek:
