View Full Version : Check out me making strudel
You have to stretch the dough so thin that you can read through it O__O

I'm impressed, I know how painful it is as I've made it quite a few times myself
nice. does it taste good? i've never tried it before. :(
tenebra: i see you changed your name. :thumb:
The pastry didn't taste great, and I think I figured out why you put nuts/breadcrumbs on; it keeps the pastry separate and makes it puffy. But it still tastes pretty bland, so I'll work on that.
The filling is delicious; just like a cinnamon apple pie. Also, I soaked the raisins in some vanilla-infused vodka I made overnight :)
So you bake eh Ten? Any specialty?
Oh and in one photo, you can see the shiva figure leaning against the TV if you squint!
Nope, the breadcrumbs are there to absorbe the excessive moisture from the apples ;)
Did you put any sugar in the dough? It needs a little bit of sugar, just a touch. If it's still a little dull a good dusting with icing sugar should fix it. Try soaking the raisins in rum for an extra kick.
Yup, I cook and bake and even make homemade tortellini when I have the time. Baking specials from me? Hmmm...probably lemon tart, chocolate tart and profiteroles but I'm quite comfortable with pretty much anything. :)
Ahh.. the breadcrumbs would work: Mine leaked some delicious syrup :(
Didn't have any rum, but the raisins were gorgeous. I could have eaten them as they were.
Sugar definitely makes sense. I was thinking that, but was unsure if it would affect the stability of the dough. That and maybe a pinch of cinnamon/5 spice next time I think.
I like fresh made pasta. And I do an awesome Lemon Meringue pie! I've had several people say it was the best they've tasted, which swells my pride (and head)
I may hit you up for some recipes sometime Ten, and if you want any cooking advice from me, fire away. (not that you'd necessarily need it :D)
