With all this talk about what prizes should be given out for, I'd like to see competitions that involve perhaps making fan-art, writing fan-fics and so on, and those who make the best get some goodies.

However, I don't know whether people would enter, and how you'd decide who had written best fan-fic(perhaps nominate judges). And whether or not people would be interested. Each competition could have a theme and goodies coud be won(if it were a fan-fic comp) for a story that fits with canon, being the most imaginative(not just making the crren characters look super awesome) and for generally being the most fun to read.

I'll leave you to discuss your thoughts about the idea, suggest, improve and elaborate.

I'll agree that it'd be nice to see more creative-based competitions, as it would avoid the mad rush of the Goodie Giveaways that we get regularly.

The Goodie Giveaways are great, don't get me wrong, as they give everyone on the forum a chance to get something nice...and they happen so regularly now, that it's possible for some people to get more than 1 prize in a week.

But it would be nice to see more themed and creative based competitions on the odd occasion.

And, before anybody complains that Creative Competitions stop everybody from being able to enter:

I can't draw at all. So if there were an art competition, I'd still try my hardest...but I certainly wouldn't expect to win anything.

Not all competitions in life are fair.

YES! i love this idea. i think we should do it soon....talk to tenebra maybe to see if goodies will be available and then make a thread where everyone posts their art and see which one is awsome! we can have a time limit of a day and then announce the winner. i don't see why we can't start this straight away!:D

I have an idea that is photoshop based.
To give maybe up to five (or whatever amount) various pictures - character art, screenshots or whatever. Everyone gets the same pictures and whoever can make the best mashup of the pictures, wins. I mean make any type of graphic image out of the given images. I find this very creative and you don't have to know how to draw or write to do this, just know some photoshop. Even basic knowledge mixed with a great idea can sometimes give a better result than advanced photoshop knowledge.

Definitely having other things to widen winners is a good idea, just when you get to specific stuff like designing you are obviously gonna get less people, just a fact.

I would somewhat extend it and allow videos as well, you never know montages etc of games or even machinima can be a good stepping stone for competitions

How do you know it as a fact that less people are going to compete in designing? I have held such comps many times and they have always been very successful. Anyone who can design a signature or something has good chances. I find making videos a lot more complicated. I think it is just more fair to have comps where you can compete by doing different things because someone who can draw might not know how to design and someone who knows how to design might not be good at drawing. Just an idea.

Every time we've had a creative competition on this forum, it's met with (at most) 15 entries.

Even so it would be a nice break for the waving giveaways and people would put a little more effort to receive those nice prizes.
Furthermore, it would separate those who only come to the boards to wave for prizes from those who are actually are active here.
And if the comp is about something that some people don't know how to do then it's alright if different types of comps are held, as to win something in giveaways you just have to be lucky enough to be online at the time at which they are held.

What about those that are devoted moochers?

That wasn't quite the idea. But more to cater to those with slower computers, and for those that would rather win a prize rather than get it for close to nothing.

i say go for it! its time we started another creative competition.

i'm tired of swearing at my computer and pacing the room because i'm so anxious.

i really want to sit down and work on something artistic and something i can put some thought into, not just wondering when to press F5 key.

I think another short story comp would do well. I remember being the only won not to win a prize from the last one! lol

I'd like to do a Short Story Competition again, but that severely limits who will be willing to enter.

I'm interested to hear your ideas though Blok...
