View Full Version : Your Favourite Albert Wesker?
So, which version of Wesker did you appreciate the most?
He's had a multitude of voice and motion capture actors, as well as different roles within the series as a whole, meaning two Weskers are not quite the same...
Your choice can be from any medium, be it game, book, film (Dante disapproves...) or even a fanfic (but you have to link to it. :P, just the fanfics, I mean, Piracy is a crime, yar.).
Oh, and give a reason why, of course. ;)
My favourite would be the Wesker we saw in The Umbrella Chronicles, since he was very devious and methodical, his behind-the-scenes point of view shed some insight in to his intent, whereas his interactions with other characters showcased his prowess and intelligence.
Of course, one would argue that this version covers "Wesker through the decades", but he was consistant throughout, plus it was rather interesting to see his rise to power.
I didnt play Chronicles but for the RE games I played I really like him in RE5. He was boss of everything.
In the 4th Resident Evil movie coming out, I hope Wesker makes an aperance. He didnt showed up at RE1, 2 and we saw him 2 min in RE3 Extinction.
I want him the main star in the next movie!
i say him in re4. he was sly, he had a master plan which nobody knew of, he was concealed and making arrangements behind everybody's back. the only time you get to play as him though is mercenaries. umbrella chronicles was also good.

I've been holding off answering this...because it's really hard to give a good answer.
Each variation of Wesker has had its own charms.
Umbrella Chronicles Wesker is a combination of them all, to be honest. Like Dante says though, it's a consistent combination, never going from one extreme to the next without a credible link between them.
It shows how Wesker transformed from someone that wanted to understand Umbrella, to somebody that wanted to take over Umbrella.
The original Wesker was a classic villain. The betrayer, the back stabber, the manipulator. It was both expected and un-expected at the same time...you could tell there was something dodgy about him, but it wasn't until the Laboratories that it all started to click into place.
Wesker's Report showed us a calm and collected Wesker, revealing his plans for the future, and his plans for anybody that got in his way.
Code Veronica showed us a power hungry and slightly demented Wesker. It showed us just how jealous he could be, and to what extent that jealousy could ruin anything he did (it was his obsession with Power and with getting revenge on Chris that ruined his plans in Code Veronica).
Resident Evil 4 brought back the cool guy, though he was now a businessman. He didn't do anything himself, he got other people to do it for him. He was now seperating himself from the world, collecting what he needed to put his plan into operation. He was becoming like Spencer.
Resident Evil 5 showed us a lunatic. Resident Evil 5 revealed what would happen when everything you know is shattered. Wesker wanted to be like Spencer, but better. When he finds out that he is nothing but one of Spencers creations, Wesker snaps.
Everything that Wesker was trying to be was a lie, but the truth released him from the set path, and let him be what he was. He wasn't human, he was better than human...so he surrounded himself with sycophants and loyalists, planning the next step in human evolution...he wanted to be the harbinger of a new generation, where he was no longer a play thing that was seperated from society.
However, once again, it was hiw power hungry behaviour and vengeful behaviour against Chris that destroyed him.
Every step of the way, Wesker has been a well thought out and beautiful character to watch grow...admittedly RE5 showed us a Wesker that not many fans were happy with, but it was going to happen...there was no doubt about it.
D.C Douglas is Wesker's best voice actor for sure, also leading me into saying that RE5 and UC had the best 'iterations' of Wesker. Not just because of the voice actor but because of his portrayal in both.
In RE5, Wesker seemed to show an evil arrogance, even greater(to me at least) than previous games, although this is probably because he had Uroboros. I just loved how power crazy Wesker seemed. Vengence, retribution and evolution were at Wesker's finger tips, and it really magnified his personality.
In UC, since we saw Wesker work his way through levels, we got to know what he was thinking, and he shows that yes, he was an arrogant sod. But he was so badass that I didn't care.
