View Full Version : New Resident Evil Film is definitely on.
Milla Jovovich just said in a Radio 1 interview it's gonna happen, and it will be filmed in 3D.
Not sure if that's news to you guys, but there :)
3D?!!
ahhh poo. you know that's gonna be horrible. the whole movie is just gonna be knifes thrown at the screen to make you jump.
Actually, she was saying that was the main difference between filming regular and 3D; Trying not to overdo the jumpy bits and saving them for the action parts.
Sounds like she knows what she's doing.

milla jovovich *_*
*cough* however! i hope they'll make a good film, even if i'm sure i'll watch that anyway on day one at the cinema like i did with Apocalypse and Extinction
i will DEFINITELY see it. i need to know what goes on. i can't just sit at my house knowing that something resident evily is going on and millions of obtuse people are seeing it but not me, a crazy resident evil fan. even if saw it's bad i need to see it for myself.

I generally just wait for it to come out on DVD, and read the book whilst doing so...the books of the films tend to be better...though the first 2 were terrible, Extinction's book was pretty damned good.
Yeah, I've noticed that novelisations tend to be hit and miss depending on the source, certain movies have very deep and elaborate scripts, but limited screentime, whereas a book overcomes that limit, as well as certain media being better presented in another format. It also depends on the author, since they may fail to grasp certain aspects and, instead, show off their research with half-baked references, basing the novel on what they see of a game/movie rather than the actual script...
As for the next Resi film...
I'm not surprised that Millia Jovovich is all over this one, seeing as she'll have the most important role and is more than likely going to get a large wad of cash for her troubles...
As for 3d, jeez, talk about reoccurring fads, we've had way too many 3D movies in recent years, its sudden resurgance probably fits conviniently for this movie, since they'll probably use the gimmick as a sales point, it'll be a case of "Dur-hur, dun care if the movie sucks, its in 3D!", which sounds harsh but, is probably true.
I'm guessing that they are going to further abuse Wesker for this one, he'll probably mutate and die, if not, we'll be looking square in the face of RE: After Afterlife.
I sorta see the film series as a guilty pleasure over one that can provide anything good or original, it's just mindless zombie slaying based upon the core elements of RE, asking too much of it is a great overestimation for what it is, considering many other zombie films have covered nearly everything a zombie film can do... And yet, it also seems like a heartless cash in thats in it more for the money than fan service, all the marketing suggests they are going for the wider audience over the Resi fans, they can't really be blamed for this, but, it's kind of insulting to see what they imply with the choice of music and so on.
If theres nothing on at the time at the cinema, I'll probably see it with my sister and her boyfriend, who are also hardcore Resi fans, then afterward, DVD it shall be.

Well they did leave it open for another one, and they brought in Wesker, it was bound to happen sooner or later :chin:.

There are books of the films?!
I'm ashamed to say I didn't know!

Like say, the first 2 are terribly written.
"He said this, he did this, she said this, then did that." gets a bit boring after about 2 pages.
But the book for Extinction is actually more interesting than the film, but I'm thinking that this is because the storyline for Extinction is so far removed from the Resident Evil Universe that it makes it more compelling.
i just hope they bring back some better co-stars. like michelle rodriguez. she was amazing -

and more blood and bullets, less kung foo ninja. this isn't the matrix.
then it will be brilliant

With Rain being dead, I doubt Michelle Rodriquez would ever actually return.
But it would be good to see some more female characters make an appearance, and perhaps they could make them less...I dunno, stereotypically-butch-Lesbian?

HAHAHAHAH. ya. i guess it would help to loosen the movie up a bit if they had some..........uh, how do i put this........:chin: ......... humorus promiscuosity in the female type.
ya, some good co-stars is what this series needs.
I really wonder how will the film come out after I saw the ending of the 3rd.
Will there be 1000 Millas fighting zombies on screem?
if it were me i would send in like 500 decoys. lol
i just hope at the end they don't all morph together to make a mega-milla. that would be ridiculus.....:shameonyou:

I'm trying to think of something to say...but I keep getting side-tracked by the idea of being surrounded by 1000 Mila Jovovich's...
*shakes himself out of a daydream*
I seem to remember a few reports basically saying that they'd be taking a bit of a different route with the next lot of films.
It'd probably be a bit silly, and probably very hard, to do an entire film with thousands of Alices.
I'd guess there will be a mention of what the rest are doing, but we'll probably only see the main Alice doing her thing...
Theory on future storyline:
The original Alice sends out her Alice Army to fight the Biohazardous Threat that dominates the world. Deal with Zombies, fight off other creatures, and probably take down any Umbrella Facility they find.
I'd hazard a guess that they'd also be ordered to find survivors, and probably try and find a cure for the virus.
Whilst all of this is going on, the riginal Alice will be hunting down the main culprits behind the outbreak...such as Wesker.
what!? next LOT of films? there's gonna be more? it's not nessasarily bad but a bit surprising. i guess they are taking in a lot of money. the first movie was no.2 in the box -office and the 2nd and 3rd were no. 1. they all brought in about 150 million worldwide. good for sony. (they are making the films)

The chances are, we'll see another two or three films. Directors and Producers are into doing Trilogies.
The 4th Film will, guarunteed, have just as open an ending as Extinction did.

If only... that'd actually be full of win. In the way that it'll be slagged off by the whole of the internet minus a small bunch of people who love it.

that ending was a bit weird actually, so these are my theories about the begin of the new film:
- earthquake bury that lab and only the original Milla founds a way to escape (like a "oh, sorry, we just made that scene to make a cool final cliff hanger")
- that fake Wesker can control in some way those Millas clones and destroy them "from the inside"
anyway, Umbrella is almost defeated also in the films, so the Tricell could appear there, since videogames and Degeneration deals with this brand new menace
I don't expect it to be good but i will wacth it at least once anyway.
Can I get in line and Not see it? :P
I guess I will check out the Alice army atleast one time, though.

I'm looking forward to seeing another film but then again I was a fan of them before I got into the games.
I have all the RE movies on dvd while I dont like them as much as RE movies I like them for their action but personally I would love to see yet another movie from Capcom themself instead in the way of Degeneration.

I couldn't get into Degeneration personally but I'm gonna try and sit down and watch it again one day without being distracted by the bf lol
Degen is awesome.
I demand more films like Degen!
Yes i agree! more like degen! not more poorley acted, badly directed cheesey effect filled milia jocavic (however its spelt) crap!
Warning! Degeneration spoilers ahoy!
I didn't like Degeneration that much, but I still rate it higher than the live action movies, primarily due to its continuity of the plot despite it had no real impact on RE5...
I think what let Degeneration down was the dulled potential overall, it could have been far better with the additional gore and lack of restraint due to it being CGI, but it felt purposely toned down to fit the 15+ rating cut a few bits of blood and naughty words and it could probably make a 12a rating...
But also the way they've portrayed some of the characters, Leon and Claire where fine apart from being to molded to their RE2 roles to show any growth of character, although Leon was more calm but also quite bitter toward the ordeal, which I liked,
They broke G by making him too human, It would have been great if when Angella shown him the photo, he spat up a G-Embryo on top of of it (oOo, Symbolism!), it makes you wonder why he didn't just let himself fall as opposed to waiting to be shot in the head by Leon.
They made Senator Davis too much of the corrupt and uncaring political figure, making him far too cartoony to be taken as such, if he was nice on camera but a total pain during the outbreak, that would have been fine, but the way he was a total pain in the backside from start to finish shown little depth and unrealistic character.
Frederic was also as deep as a teaspoon of water, It clicked about half way through the movie that he was ultimately going to be the villain, the fact that he was british and obsessed with tea meant he really had no other character, just a filler to please Japanese obsession with Western culture and probably to further the idea that Resident Evil's setting as a Western horror movie (Unlike most games, RE has english VA's with Japanese subtitles to give the feel of it being a foreign horror movie to the east).
In short, overlooked potential.

Birkin retained his memories for days after his initial transformation.
It was only upon the development of the second brain that he started to give in to the more bestial nature of G.
So, it kind of made sense for G to act the way he did in Degen.
Aside from that, I agree with the rest of what you say. Degen is a great Resident Evil movie, but it isn't a great movie.
