View Full Version : If you could combine elements of games...

What gameplay elements would you pick?

A bit of an odd question, but it was something I was thinking about just as I fell asleep last night.

I was imagining a mixture of Mirror's Edge and Portal.

So, the main character of Mirror's Edge would have the portal gun, and also the leg attachments (to be able to survive certain large drops, etc).

I was thinking it would make the game quite interesting, diving off of a tall building, with a portal directly underneath you, to come flying back out the top of the building so fast that you can reach another location that is placed quite a distance away.

The ability to fight enemies by doing powerful moves like this, and mixing in the Parkour (sp?) with the puzzle elements, etc.

I thought it could be quite fun...

What about you guys?

Monster Hunter x Dead Rising.

(Or Street Fighter IV with characters from Dead Rising, Monster Hunter, Megaman, Devil Kings, Lost Planet etc. :) )

Explain a bit. How would the game play? What would it be like?

Which elements from which games? Etc, etc.

Think of this topic as an experience in expanding your imagination.

i would have the size and varied landscape of twilight princess. the fighting moves of 'dead or alive'. and a convoluted and twisted storyline of resident evil 4. with the visual technology of dark void. with the gore of left 4 dead. :D

Haha that Portal/ME's idea is actually kinda awesome. I would definately play a game like that!

I would want 1vs100 with Left 4 Dead, so basically QI but with guns, so if you get a question wrong, you die of ignorance!

I love the "get carves and build new stuff to resist certain elements and such" and would combine it with an MMORPG like Final Fantasy XI (or XIV if you want).

You could boost different stats that way, so one Paladin would go for something like "Block+2 and maybe ..."

A White Mage boosts his Healing Ability or get the spell "Divine Protection" from his armor.

The Black Mage could boost his elemental spells with different elements or even add "Cluster" or "Crag" to his spells.

The Ranger could make his Arrows go elemental or get them "pierced".

The Thieves may want to rely on "Unseathed Attack" and "Evade Inc".

The Bard goes for the horn skills and has different combinations from his flutes too.

We could also see a mage that can use the spell of "Fencing" or "Rage".

Maybe there're jobs in the game too, like a weapon and armorsmith which can - using the right armor - put "Sharpness" on a weapon or are capable of putting the Decos into the Armor/Weapon Slots.

Gawd, I thought about it too much, now I want such a game =(

That'd be pretty awesome.

Like I said in my Capcom Crossover thread, pretty much anything and Monster Hunter would be good.

But I'd like to see a combination of Left4Dead and Dead Rising, so you'd be able to roam around a zombie infested mall with 3 friends, using obscure weapons and normal guns to kill psychopaths and zombies.

Actually, the other day I was thinking that an MMO Gauntlet game(preferably drawing largely from Gauntlet Legends/Gauntlet Dark Legacy) containing aspects from other MMOs like upgrading armour and weapons.

Power Stone(2) and Devil May Cry, this way the large range of weapons can be used to fight away demons(or whatever) and would give Power Stone a new direction rather than being a fighter. Perhaps having Power Fusions in a Devil Trigger kind of fashion(activated rather than automatic, kinda like the Final Smash I guess).

I would like to see Drake's Fortune take a page from Final Fantasy and have large towns in which you could wander around and gather information. My largest grievance with Drake's Fortune was the repetition, so having some beautiful cities/villages that you could explore and interact with the people therein would be welcomed.

Another amalgamation I would like to see: Assassins Creed and Thief. Upon the hype train of Assassins Creed, many of my brethren and I were fooled into believing that it was a game that took a page from Prince Of Persia and a page from Thief. Sadly, this was not the case. I would like to see Assassins Creed borrow from the brilliant atmosphere and seedy underworld that was so apparent within Thief. Wandering around towns and moving through the backstreets while silently dispatching guards (or simply moving around undetected) is one of my fondest gaming experiences. And if Assassin's Creed could borrow some of its ideas - I think it really would add to the games tenfold.

I see your point. I do think Assassin's Creed is better than PoP and Thief to be honest though...

I'd like to see an Assassin's Creed type game with a fantasy setting, magic, dragons, trolls, etc.
