View Full Version : Tattoos
Anyone got 'em?
What didja get tattooed and where?
Your opinions on tattoos?
My dad has a bunch, all on his upper arms and back. I'd like one or two but when the time comes I may change my mind.
Pictures if you don't mind. ;)
I think it just depends on where they are and what they are, some can look good on people, but vast majority of the time they look hideous!

i have two, one on my lower back and one on my arm. I don't want anymore but i also don't regret having them done. I think it's a personal thing.
I have a rose with hearts on my arm, and a celtic type design on my lower back, i prefer the back one really. :)

I have 5 Tats at the moment:
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f245/thezombiemessia/Picture0122.jpg
This is the Hyrule Crest, from The Legend of Zelda.
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f245/thezombiemessia/Picture0123.jpg
The Mark of Samael & The Seal of Metatron from the Silent Hill series.
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f245/thezombiemessia/Picture0124.jpg
A Pentagram, as a mark of my spirituality.
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f245/thezombiemessia/Picture0125.jpg
Skull & Crossbones. This one I am getting covered at the end of the month though, as I hate it. I'll be covering it with a basic Cthulhu Design.
I also have plans for many more Tats, to cover my back, arms, and chest, and possibly one on my leg.
Cool.
I like the look and idea of tats like yours but I don't want any like them. :p
I want something oriental and/or something really over the top.

If you get any Japanese or "chinese" lettering, make sure you know what it says. Alot of people get things done by people that they think they can trust, and it ends up saying something quite rude or stupid.
The designs I have at the moment are very basic, but I will be getting atleast one of my arms covered, and my back is going to be a big design.
I actually don't like the idea of having any words or anything. You know the whole 'pictures speak louder than words' thing.
I just noticed what tshirt you're wearing. I thought about getting it but neve did.

Yeah, all of my stuff is pictures or designs, rather than wording. Words don't generally look very nice, and can be easily misinterpreted (sp?).
The other designs I have planned are Pyramid Head, William Birkin, one of the Colossi, an oriental Cthulhu design, the Umbrella logo and a few other smaller bits.
The T-shirt is the CAD "Don't shift blame" shirt, I always liked it.
I don't really like text either, atleast not on the lower arms and/or legs. I like tattoos that tell a story, an image with a dynamic flow in it, like japanse ones, tattoos as an form of art.
an oriental Cthulhu design
I'd like to see that. Is there a picture of anything like it, or anything that you got the idea from?

This is what I want:
http://fc00.deviantart.com/fs28/f/2008/091/6/d/Cthulhu_tattoo_by_Blastermind.jpg
It'll span my shoulder blades, but it's gunna cost a bomb.
That is too cool! Especially at the size you want it.

I'm going to get it riced when I head in for my cover-up session, then start saving. Possibly get it over Christmas if it's cheap enough.
Nice tats TZM.:D
I was thinking of getting a full sized umbrella logo tattooed on my back.

I was thinking of getting a full sized umbrella logo tattooed on my back.
You won't be able to get the White bits done in White.
I only want a small Umbrella logo on my arm, the same size as the Pentagram tat, and they won't do the White for that.
White is more expensive, and also requires a much larger needle and can do a lot more damage to the body. They only do small bits, for highlights and stuff, to avoid doing damage and the like.
This is why I'll be getting my logo done in Black, with the White bits left blank so my skin fills it.
Really, I didn't know that.:chin:
Oh well, there goes that idea.
That design is really awesome, thezombiemessia =O but it sure looks expensive indeed...
I love tattoos, I think they're an AMAZING form of art! However, I won't get a tattoo anytime soon, haha. I'm more like... I'll get a tattoo when I have a reason to get one. I'd like tattoos to have a deeper meaning. Like in memory of a passed away family member, you know? But I do love tattoos on other people :3!

Tattoos should mean something to the person that gets them, otherwise they're pointless.
All of mine mean something to me, as they pretty much symbolise who I am.
Im thinking about a tatoo with a snake(like i have home) and im really thinking about lambda logo from half-life cause i love that series, maybe an umrella logo :D
@thezombiemessia exactly! Like, I know some people who have tattoos and when I ask them about it, they just say "I got it cuz it looks pretty". I mean.. That's okaj and all, but it would be so much better of there was a meaning behind it. IMHO :3

I was always tempted by the Lambda logo to, either that or the Black Mesa symbol...or the Aperture Laboratories logo.
I may get them worked into my sleeve design at some point, but I'm not sure. They are nice designs.

That's why I'm getting my Skull & Crossbones Tat covered at the end of the month.
It was an un-planned tat, that some people that I thought were friends convinced me to get. They were all getting it done as a "symbol of friendship" and then a few months later they all turned out to be...well, not nice people.

Yes yes, aperature sience logo looks indeed nice but i dont want it as a tatoo because portal isnt even a series, it doesnt have a history like lambda and umbrella logo... or cake or companion cube tatoo :D

Portal has a lot of backstory behind it, and they are currently working on Portal 2.
Plus, Portal has been worked into the Half Life canon, with the ship Borealis (Half Life Episode 2 ending, and to be featured in Episode 3) belonging to Aperture Science Laboratories.
But yeah, I suppose the Lambda Logo has a much bigger backstory to it all.
isn't portal that mini - game in 'the orange box' along with the half life series?
that game was fun and very confusing!:strange:

Yeah, i know, half-life is my favourite series.
Im currently folowing black mesa team on source, cant wait for the release of black mesa source! :)
The only thing that will be a bit different from the first half-life will be Xen, because it was the worst made location in hl1, other than that it will be a complete clone of hl1 in orange box source engine
Green, it was indeed mini, i beat it in 1h and 15min and it was briliant. You should try out portal: prelude mod, its 200 percent harder and one chamber took my 2 hours - more than the whole portal game :D.
Portal prelude is a fictional prequel to the original portal, it tells the story why was the whole aperature complex abadoned in portal 1

I've also been following Black Mesa Source, it looks excellent.
Anyways, lets get back on topic ;)
@thezombiemessia ohmy, that about your 'friends' certainly sounds sucky :x And it must've felt 1000x as much sucky after taking a tattoo! It's a good choice to get a new tattoo over it :3

@ TZM the Cthulhu design looks awesome. Make sure you post a pic when you get it?
Ofcourse. But that probably won't be for quite a while.
I been thinking of getting one for ages. For me it would be one on the shoulder. Either a Bullmastiffhead or Bordeauxdoghead.
you should get one of ada. :p
actually, that's not a bad idea... that would be pretty cool now that i think of it.
so ... just 2 of my 3 Tattoos i show u ...

Awesome. I really like the one with the guy fighting the dragon, it's quite nice.
Though I'm not much into getting coloured tattoos myself.
I'm surprised you've not gone for a Birkin eye on your right shoulder TZM :P.
Nice goatee by the way.

Got a couple of other little ones planned. Not big on large tattoos.

100% certain. ;]
Considering I've checked and double-checked online, as well as having those who can read it tell me the same, I have no reason to be worried, heh. Having some of the Capcom employees clarify it for me helped too. :P

This is the coverup that was getting done:
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f245/thezombiemessia/Picture0126.jpg
It covers over the Skull & Crossbones Tat that I had.
It's freshly done, so is still bleeding a bit. I'll take a nicer picture when it's healed over in a few days/weeks.

How was it on the underarm? It's one of the areas that I'd be a bit more skeptical about in terms of pain. I usually pinch myself in an area that I'd consider to get an idea of the final pain intake. That part of the arm is definitely one that would hurt I reckon.
Something like the wrist is nowt but every area has a different tenderness level.

I really hate tattoo's.
To me, they're completely disgusting and vile things....same as piercings (on boys at least).
It's like when you're 70, it'll become flappy, warped or just look deranged compared to how it was when it was first done. At this point, you'd probably regret having it done, and want it lasered off.
It's fair enough if other people want it done, but it's a major turn off for me, looks pretty ugly (my opinion guys, so don't take offense), and yea really, I just don't ever want one.
A friend of mine has probably the most pointless one possible, which is a hollowed out star around his elbow.
I love art, but not on the human body. I could probably live with an other half having like one if it's pretty small, but I just don't like them, and I doubt my mind will ever change on the subject.

My grandad has a load and he has no plans of removing them. And to be honest I kinda like 'em.

That, IMO, is idiotic.
None of my Tats will ever get in the way of me getting a job, or anything like that. I see no need or reason to have them on display like that.
As for my most recent one, it really was not that painful.
Most painful place for me has been my stomach, the one on my arm at the moment is just like a cat scratch.

You can't fall asleep during a Tattoo...
She told that story to her parents, but it was never verified.
If/When you ever get a tattoo, tell me whether or not you felt like you could fall asleep.
On top of that, even if her story were to be true, she still wanted 3 on her face...which is still ridiculous.
EDIT:
Just counted how many were actually on her face...she's got 56...

Last I heard, the only reason she said she asked for 3 is because her dad got angry so she lied and blamed the tattooist.
I'm sure I read an article about it somewhere. Lemme try and dig it out.
EDIT: Found a link to a news article about it. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/belgium/5603769/Girl-with-56-stars-tattooed-on-face-admits-she-asked-for-them.html
And nice tattoo, TZM. Would like to see a picture of it once it's healed a little. Looks much better than the Skull & Crossbones tat.
