My other story synopsis got a mixed but fairly positive reception, so I thought about adding a second synopsis. :P

After much thought, I realised that there wheren't that many well known horror stories concerning the ocean, I can't honestly think of any from the top of my head (other than Jaws? Bioshock?) and thought it was a more original premise for a story than most other settings.

As before with my Vampires Vs Zombies story, its a WIP and is bound to change/improve as time goes on, enjoy:

Synopsis:
A new breed of fish emerges from the oceans and is proven highly deadly to humans with a powerful neurotoxin, causing the victim to become mad with thirst and run in to the ocean where they are devoured by large schools of fish and drown.

The governments and leaders of various nations group together to agree that the oceans be momentarily closed from the mainland, fearing for the safety of crews, the boating and shipping industry plummets until a means of safety to their crews come in to effect, scientists based by the sea hope of finding a solution that will kill the fish whilst preserving the rest of the eco system.

Meanwhile, A disgraced doctor approaches a group of out of business pirates in an attempt to do a deal with them, the doctor has discovered a means of extracting the venom from the fish and making it in to a powerful narcotic, safer and more effective than half the drugs on the market, it is neither addictive nor does it have a side-effect other than a brief thirst in whoever takes it, with each fish producing over 100 doses, its a deal the pirates quickly agree to and reveal that they are actually going to transport migrants over seas while the seas are literally clear.

The boat reaches the middle of the ocean where, in theory, a large group of the fish are gathered for easy capture, the fish are brought aboard to suffocate, but actually escape the net, the fish can actually live on land for short periods of time and spread throughout the ship overnight.

The ship is infested with the fish and panic begins as people are bitten and turn thirsty, attacking others over water sources, even going as far as to kill each other.

The captain and her first mate are some of the only few to survive the onslaught, in the middle of the dead ocean, no help is coming…

Seems fine. Like a kind of Michael Bay movie, sort of deal?

There's some stuff that reminds me of stories, like lovecraft and the deep ones returning to the oceans; and the closing of the oceans and the eco thing reminds me of a book I can't remember the name of, where aliens seed the ocean depths and attack humanity from the water.

(by the way that's not a synopsis, there's no story).

The Abyss, Jaws, BioShock, Cold Fear, Piranha, and there was this one with Samuel Jackson in where he plays a Scientist and they're facing Genetically Engineered Sharks...

Just thought I'd list some Ocean Based "horror" films/games.

Anyways, yeah. The premise is quite good.

It's very cliche and would probably come across as one of those Summer Blockbuster types that usually ends up selling well on DVD but not doing too good in the box office.

Deep Blue Sea, X-Com - terror from the deep. It sounds nice just that I have had a problem with imagining the spread out of the fish on the ship but if it were a really large one. ... hmmm... possibly it is! Then I would say that it is a bit hard to develop the story onboard of the ship - fish behavior etc.

What they look like and how they behave?

Apologies for the delay, seriously wanted to consider my response.

Hmm, Nah, I'm going for a more subtle approach with this, something along the lines of The Thing where it's hard to tell whose been bitten, or something to that effect.

There's some stuff that reminds me of stories, like lovecraft and the deep ones returning to the oceans; and the closing of the oceans and the eco thing reminds me of a book I can't remember the name of, where aliens seed the ocean depths and attack humanity from the water.

I admit mythical aspects have inspired it, but I considered a natural occurence over a kind of judgement to be far more scarier since it feels undeserved, I do want to do something along the Lovecraft lines sooner or later though.

I suck at them, it's more like a summary.

I should probably get out more, couldn't think of many off the top of my head other than Jaws and Bioshock, maybe Piranha.

A cult following type movie?

I admit I write them with films in mind, I tend to prefer the old 80's and 90's films, so yeah, it's pretty clichéd in a similar respect to Dead Space, the kind which is obvious yet enjoyable.

Deep Blue Sea, X-Com - terror from the deep. It sounds nice just that I have had a problem with imagining the spread out of the fish on the ship but if it were a really large one. ... hmmm... possibly it is!

They jump about and escape the net and some make it in to the on board water system, they don't survive very long, but have a great impact on the ship after spreading quickly, making the majority of the people on it crazy with the neurotoxin.

Then I would say that it is a bit hard to develop the story onboard of the ship - fish behavior etc.
No different from some of the other films who manage to do it in one building, or a vehicle, Phone Booth and Evil Dead 2 for example.

What they look like and how they behave?
They have mixed aspects of several fish, they look like Tiger Fish, can jump like salmon and eat like Pirahna with teeth strong enough to pierce human flesh, their vast numbers make them so dangerous immediately, whereas their venom makes them individually dangerous.

I really like the idea, I love how the captain is female.

@TZM:The film with Jackson in is called Deep Blue Sea.

Thanks, Not the typical female lead, she's a loose flippant bisexual, well, she is a pirate...

I was thinking that.

Synopsis can also mean something like a connection or compound of information summarized by topic (like the four Gospels in the new testament, or the connection (->Summary as Result) of equal informations contained within).

This would be some strange idea for the story buildup, to get away from the movie-istic "one story line" thing, but neither getting too far into telling multiple stories after all, yet kind of leading different parts together and apart and so on. Like here the fish spreads out while on the other side some people co-incidentially meet, love stuff and so, introducing people, like the captain passing by that room where the fish come out. The fish causing some strange stuff here and there at the different characters. Obviously the ship is a chaos afterwards, and well, would be quite some work out I guess.
{Edit:
You would need a major guideline to get started with, around which you can spread the different lines. Maybe getting started with the fish.
}
Got a name for it already?
