I honestly had no idea they were connected...
I've recently been playing Mercs on my PSP (Capcom Classics Collection Reloaded), and I think it's brilliant. I love the oldschool feel, and it's fun to just blow stuff up, etc.
So I'm writing about it in a blog, and all of a sudden find out that the main character is also from Bionic Commando.
I also learnt that Mercs is, for all intents and purposes, Commando 2.
Did anybody else know this?
Could this possibly see more expansion on the Commando/Mercs series? I'd love to see something like Mercs come to the current generation...

Yep Commando > Mercs (Commando 2)< WOTB Command 3 side story > Bionic Commando NES > Bionic commando 360

Is it Joseph Gibbons (?) that you play in Commando and Commando 3?
And is Super Joe the guy you've been sent to rescue in Bionic Commando (original and Rearmed)?
Sorry, I'm actually new to this particular Universe and not well versed in it...

Josehp Gibson is the Guy in Commando 1 and i think mercs (don't quote me on mercs) Commando 3 is a new team and joe is the guy you have to rescue in the original BC and you work for him in the new BC

Yeah, he's the main character in Mercs. It's interesting to see the connections that they make between all their games.
I wonder if we'll ever see a modern version of Mercs or Commando?

Did you play WOTB ? on PSN or Xbox Arcade it was nice and very modern

I haven't had the chance, but it could be interesting.
Is it still top down, or is it like the new Bionic Commando?
I'd love to see a game like Commando or Mercs done in 3D like the upcoming BC...

It's a shame that the Reloaded compilation is the arcade version of Mercs, the original Genesis version had a story mode, much rather than gaining weapons on the fly, you recruited specialists that you find, each had a different color of trousers and a different weapon, when one died, you switched to the next, it had a plot also (which I can't remember, it was over ten years ago), but, yeah it was awesome, I too didn't realise it's links to Bionic Commando...

The Reloaded version has a storyline, but the storyline flicks past so quickly that you can barely catch it.
President is doing a tour of Africa for world peace. Gets kidnapped by terrorist/rebel group, taken to Zutula (I think?).
As Mercs, you're sent in to rescue him.
Yeah, its just the extra characters improve it, plus I think there's a different ending.

If you play wirelessly, you can have the 2 other characters with you...the red one and the yellow one.
But I guess you mean single-player?
Any idea what the different ending is?
