View Full Version : A Thanks system?
I have seen it on other forums when people post something good or usefull other members get the chance to that the poster.
I wounderd if that system or a simular system could be implimented on this forum?

A Kudos system so to speak? Yeah, we have that on the PlayStation forum. However, it's been a subject of much debate due to the abuse/potential abuse it suffers from.
In terms of abuse, I'm referring to members Kudo-ing a thread or a post that contributes very little to the community. This can include spam for example. A helpful post is debateable, so it's up to the said member to thank and Kudo a thread as he/she sees fit. Yet, like I said, this opens up the potential for abuse.
Also, this can pertain to a user getting his friends to thank the thread on purpose, just so he/she can get the most "thanks", so to speak. This again is hardly appropriate.
The way I see it, there could be a limit incorporated, be it through the amount of time you've been on the site or based on your contributions to the community. While that limits the amount of people who may be mature enough to handle the feature with care and respect, it can also rinse away those that *could* abuse it.
At the end of the day, it's a feature that has its benefits yet has its negatives. I think thanking a thread is great, but that's why we have the 5 star rating system. I personally feel that that feature is more than enough to thank a user for his/her contributions.

I didn't know that you're a member there... Me too, although I only post at the PT forum... :)

I'm actually a member of the US and EU one, with the US serving (or used to) as my main hub. ;P
I never used the US one, I would get jealous in there because they get more stuff on their store than us... I would rather not know what I'm missing...
You have more than 40000 posts in the US one

Haha, you noticed. Yeah, around 6 years I've been there so I've done a lot of stuff. Don't worry, I still have a life! =D
I think we're going a bit off topic though so if you have any more questions, feel free to PM me, mate. ;]
I don't think it's necessary, if a member wants to say thanks or nice one they can post in the topic or msg the user.
