View Full Version : Over 100hrs of SF4 gameplay lost

Okay, im gutted, downloaded championship mode last night and put a few hours in, really enjoyed it as well, just switched my 360 on this morning to check the GP leaderboards and im being told my save is corrupt.

Im absolutely gutted, the same thing happened to justice from dtoid back at lauch but he only had 10hrs of gameplay, i had 110hrs, 700 online fights, had unlocked every action and colour by beating survival and time attack, which incidently was not difficult but long winded and boring but i wanted those colours, actions & titles. I cant believe im going to have to do it all again, and then im just going to be worried my save will corrupt again.

I've never had a save corrupt before on the 360 and i dont do anything dodgy on it, no mods to the console or anything, this is clearly a bug with this great game and its such a shame because its clear it can strike anyone at any time.

Any help at recovering my game save would be greatly appreciated, but im not particuarly hopefull.

Edit: just realised my brawler pack is gone for good too as i used the code on the back of my special edition for it and for some reason i cant re download it for free as it doesnt have a tick next to it like other content i have paid actual points for, still least of my worrys.

Edit: okay, a further development, i checked the net and saw lots of other people had experienced the same issue after downlaoding championship mode and the way to retrieve your data is to remove the championship mode and clear your cache.

This worked for me but as soon as i agreed to update my game, which i was prompted to do on startup of the game, my data becomes corrupted again.

I can play with all my stuff unlocked if delete my cache again and refuse to update but that signs me out of live which means i cant play online.

Update: Im back in business! managed to restore my data by deleting everything except my original save data and costume packs, that includes the power pack, my extended save data and my replay data.

I've lost all my GP and CP but at least im back in the game!

Update 2: it just gets better, after i selected online battle and selected okay when i got told a previous championship did not end propperly and i must start a new one my GP have returned! Yay!!!

Holy crap ! I hope I'll never get this... You have no idea how long it took me to get 100% of the icons and 100% of the titles...
Anyway... Screw that game and its bugs...

Im looking into the adapters that allow you to back up data from your 360 on your pc right now, if anyone has any info on them or experience using one please help me out, i need to protect myself against this happening again, sf4 is a big part of my life right now and i cant afford to put another 100 hrs in only to have my data corrupt again.

Hi guys, really sorry to hear about the issue. Unfortunately there is nothing I can do during the weekend but rest assured that this will be investigated first thing on Monday morning.

With them not being official i don't know how good they are but the one you linked to is not bad price even if it didn't work.

yeah exactly i figure ill just buy one and try it out, if it works great stuff, if not thats just the way it goes.

Even outside of backup against loss it would be nice as 120gb just isnt enough for me considering every game i install takes a good 10gb

10 GB per game?

What games you installed? Most I have done are between 4.5GB and 6GB:eek:

i just checked and actually your right it is less than 10, most are like you say about 5gb, biggest i have on there right now actually is gta 4 at 5.6 but still even at an average of five thats 24 games which isnt enough for me.

Edit: actually the biggest game i've got is gta 4 at 8.9 plus i added up all my data including my 4.3 spare gb and it only adds up to 107gb!

Just a quick line to confirm that issues have been reported and are now under investigation in Japan.

Cool thanks ten, while your reporting stuff can you ask for an update for the online leaderboards so there is an option to select home location so we can see who the top rated players are in our respective countries without having to scroll through a 100 odd pages.

thankyou

As long as your getting the data is corrupted message when trying to load your data this should work:

Press your guide button and go to the far right settings tab and select system settings. highlight memory and select your hard drive, select games and then street fighter 4, now select and delete the street fighter 4 power up pack and your extended save data.

Now exit back to your hard drive and press y to get the device options and press xx lb rb xx. You will get a pop up saying "this will perform maintenance on your xbox 360 storage device. Do you want to continue?" Select yes and you will clear your cache.

Now go and start a new game of sf4, on start up you will be prompted to update or sign out. choose update.

Now you should be able to load your data and get past the title screen, if you cant go back and delete your replay data, clear your cache again and start a new game again, you will have to update again and then you should be able to load your data.
If you cant then i cant help you, though i would suggest trying a couple of times because it took me a couple of goes to get it to work.

Once past the title screen re download the championship pack, once downloaded it will look like all your GP are gone but select an xbox live game and you will be told your previous tournament did not end properly and ask you whether you would like to start a new one. Select yes and your GP should return.

Please note you do this at your own risk, i cant guarantee your GP will return or your game will even load after deleting the power up pack and extended save data but this method should work.

I've had to exact same problem.
Had 1500 GP (G3-A rank) and then lost 900 GP; all the way back to 600GP.
Platform=PS3
PSN ID=pagefault

I have no issues with my PSN account being fed back to QA for logfile analysis. I'd like an update so that I can climb rank honestly!

edit: Osaka is 1 hour behind where I am. On Monday morning, I'll leave the PS3 on with SF4 loaded up before I leave for work just in case remote magic is possible (may be helpful for a specific process)

Thanks
