DmC Soundtrack Composed by Noisia, Combichrist
Jun 28th

We’ve got some official new info on the excellent, brain-invading soundtrack to DmC. The soundtrack will feature the talent of dubstep/drum & bass outfit Noisia, and industrial rock artist Combichrist. Both artists collaborated closely with Capcom and Ninja Theory to create a soundtrack that holds tight to the sensibilities of the game.
Both artists were also kind enough to provide quotes on their experiences in working on DmC:
“It’s been an awesome experience working with Ninja Theory on the game. We had great freedom but were also bound by certain criteria typical in the game world. These are challenging boundaries (for example; consistency in sonics over 180 minutes of music) but also lots of space in terms of dynamics & progression and instrumentation being able to create soundscapes without having to worry about holding the attention of a dancefloor. Their music director was great to work with, good vibes. It’s great when you get to play to your strengths. Also, the game kicks ass! “ – Noisia, June 2012
“As an avid gamer myself I was honored to be asked to work on this project. I had a lot of fun digging myself into Dante’s psyche in order to create music to match the battle scenes and am equally as excited to license existing Combichrist music. I’m looking forward playing the finished game when it comes out.” – Andy LaPlegua, Lead Singer Combichrist, June 2012

New screens and art from DmC!
Mar 2nd
Check out these new screens from DmC showing off Dante taking on everything in his brightly coloured path. And after that read the explanations behind the design of his signature weapons Rebellion and Ebony & Ivory.

DmC’s Dante is a young man who has no respect for authority or indeed society in general. Dante knows that he is not human, but also that he is not like the demons that have tormented him throughout his life. Caught between worlds, he feels like an outcast.
Dante grew up in various institutions, orphanages, youth correction facilities and foster homes but these were mostly operated by demons and often resulted in torture and violence. Dante has therefore developed a deep hatred of demons and authority in general but tries to stay incognito. He sides with the little guy, the victims of what he sees as an unfair society.

The Rebellion sword was given to Dante by his father Sparda as a weapon with which he could protect himself against the demons that hunt him. How Dante came in to possession of Ebony and Ivory or where they come from is unknown.
The design philosophy behind both Rebellion and Ebony & Ivory is to create the impression that they were crafted a long, long time ago and since their creation they have sent innumerable demons to their doom.

Ebony & Ivory have straight, clean looking barrels that make them look like contemporary firearms, while the addition of ornate embossing is used to give the guns a feeling of mystique and uniqueness. As you move into the grip you can see that the guns have a more fluid, liquid like look that adds further mystery and a demonic flavour to their design.
Rebellion is designed to look like a powerful sword, with the detailing in the handle giving it a feeling of historical significance coupled with a demonic heritage. The same design ethos that was used for the Ebony & Ivory grips is also true for Rebellion’s hilt, making the weapons match stylistically
DmC Devil May Cry will be available on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in 2012
DmC uses Avatar crew and tech
Jan 12th
You know that film Avatar? You know, the multi-million pound, 3D defining, James Cameron epic? Yes, that one. Well you might be surprised to hear that Ninja Theory, developers of the up coming DmC have been holed up in the Avatar studio and making great use of the technology there to make sure that when Dante does anything in the game it is truly believable.
In an article on Business Weekly Ninja Theory’s Dominic Matthews said: “We do this to ensure that we’re bringing the true performances of our actors through into the game. It’s not so much about realism but believability. Real actors – real people – move their hands and their body when they speak. We track the exact movement of our actors. We have 60 markers on their faces alone – on their eyes, their eyebrows, their mouths, their noses, their lips and so on.”
Very impressive indeed! You can read the full article on Business Weekly.
