Hi Capcom fans, how’s it going?
My name is Neil, lifelong gamer and new Community Manager for Capcom UK. I’m really proud to be working for Capcom and I have been a fan for as long as I can remember; firing up the Atari ST to play some Bionic Commando and scouring the arcades for the latest version of Street Fighter. It’s always been an ambition of mine to work here and now I do!
Being a community manager gives me a chance to bring games and fans closer together and I will be working hard to make sure voices are heard and where possible giving fans a chance to play the games they love before anyone else.
As part of Capcom’s ongoing commitment to put fans first I would like to make you aware that there are already several pages up and running brining content to your territory just for you. Across Europe we have:
As of today the @capcomeuro twitter is being repurposed for the UK (renamed @capcom_uk). You of course can still follow us and we will be more than happy to tweet along with you, just be aware there are other Capcom communities in your first language out there looking to bring you all the news and gossip specific to you.
Feel free to follow me @NeilGortz , i’ll be here manning the twitter feed next to @capcomdawg who is busy getting ready for the next round of events for our great line of fighting titles.
Hope to see you when I roll through a town near you soon
You might have seen over the weekend that there was plenty of speculation and confusion over a mention of Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City in our company reports. So for clarification we asked the nice people over at Investor Relations to explain how things work at a public company…
“Last week Capcom Japan announced that the forecast for RE ORC was being reduced from 2.5 million to 2 million. To clarify this is not because there is a lack of confidence in the title, but because the release date has moved from the previously stated winter 2011 to closer to the end of the fiscal with 2 million being the number of copies we expect to ship before the end of the fiscal.”
Don’t believe us? Think we’re just part of a conspiracy? Well see for yourself, we’ll be inviting some of you into our brand spanking new offices to play the game over the next few months…
Keep your eyes peeled for loads of new Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City assets due to drop this afternoon.
See that that stuff up there? It’s all come back from the Tokyo Game Show and we’re going to give it all away! Do you want to win some of it? It might be better if we actually told you what it was, so we have:
4 Asura’s Wrath tshirts
4 Dragon’s Dogma tshirts
2 Resident Evil S.T.A.R.S baseball caps
1 pair of Resident Evil S.T.A.R.S fingerless gloves
2 Monster Hunter Felyne hats
1 Monster Hunter Felyne cushion
One item per person, which is mostly fair. So if you want something send me, Fonix, a PM on the forum including your name and address and your first two choices of what you’d like an we’ll get them sent off to you! Here have another look:
We’re at GAMEfest in Birmingham right now and we’ll be there all weekend. So if you want to come and say hi that’d be cool. And you’ll get the chance to play all these games, some of them for the first time in the UK!

Dead Rising 2: Off The Record
Here’s some pics of the booth:
Videogamer has posted an interview with Jason Leigh, executive producer for Capcom Vancouver, that should clear up any questions you had about Dead Rising 2: Off The Record, such as the scale of the game, if it’s just a minor update and so on. Here’s a snippet, you can read the rest of the interview over on Videogamer:
Videogamer: When the project was revealed earlier this year, some gamers immediately assumed it would be a DLC expansion, rather than a standalone release.
Jason Leigh: Perhaps it’s understandable, I think we’ve tried as much as possible to tell people that it’s not DLC. This is a larger game than Dead Rising 2. We’ve done very little subtraction. I guess the biggest thing we’ve removed is the Terror Is Reality multiplayer game. Everything else has been additional, so the new zone, the weapons, psychos, the sandbox mode and whatever – it’s a larger game, and it couldn’t possibly be DLC.”
Dead Rising 2: Off the Record will be released on October 14 for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The RRP is only £29.99 and if you shop around you can undoubtedly pick it up for even cheaper than that!
Both the Marvel Blog and Capcom Unity have been updated with more explanations regarding the alternate costumes for Magneto, Wolverine, Wesker and C Viper. Check them out here:
Seth Killian and Noah, the 8-year-old Marvel Vs Capcom 3 whiz-kid, visited GiantBomb recently to show off some of the new characters in Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3. First up is Seth giving some demonstrations of the characters and then Noah comes along a destroys everyone! Pretty damn cool.
Here’s a great interactive video from onebyonetv which has all the cut-scenes from the rival battles in Super Street Fighter IV AE. Very handy if you haven’t gone trough each character yourself and want to check out each character’s rival in the game.
We can now reveal the glorious and fiery box art for the European release of Dragon’s Dogma! How do you like those flames?
