As you may already be aware, the lovely Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Collector’s Set includes a 64-page hardcover book featuring a heaping helping of fan art. Naturally we received way more art than could fit inside one book, so we’d like to give some additional shout outs to those who almost made it in.
This week’s entry comes from Andrew Parish Johnston, and imagines a happy moment in time when Ken, Ryu and Gouken were all training peacefully. Those were the days, gentlemen – a friendly shoryuken to you too, sir!
And this week’s musical mention goes to FA/DC’s rippin’ rendition of Guile’s theme. If you can’t get psyched up listening to this, I daresay you may be a robot. A cold, unfeeling robot.
Huge thanks to everyone who contributed – we’ll have more in the coming weeks!
Dance games are fine and well, but there sure are a lot of them across the various motion-controlled options out there. Looking for something to do besides wave your arms and watch digital people dance? Check out the newly released Resident Evil: Chronicles HD Collection, plus this Facebook app that lets you take part in a friendly jab at the cascade of dance games…
Head to Facebook to give the app a try – it inserts your face into a game just before something… bad happens to the player. Won’t spoil it for you here!
We’ve got some official new info on the excellent, brain-invading soundtrack to DmC. The soundtrack will feature the talent of dubstep/drum & bass outfit Noisia, and industrial rock artist Combichrist. Both artists collaborated closely with Capcom and Ninja Theory to create a soundtrack that holds tight to the sensibilities of the game.
Both artists were also kind enough to provide quotes on their experiences in working on DmC:
“It’s been an awesome experience working with Ninja Theory on the game. We had great freedom but were also bound by certain criteria typical in the game world. These are challenging boundaries (for example; consistency in sonics over 180 minutes of music) but also lots of space in terms of dynamics & progression and instrumentation being able to create soundscapes without having to worry about holding the attention of a dancefloor. Their music director was great to work with, good vibes. It’s great when you get to play to your strengths. Also, the game kicks ass! “ – Noisia, June 2012
“As an avid gamer myself I was honored to be asked to work on this project. I had a lot of fun digging myself into Dante’s psyche in order to create music to match the battle scenes and am equally as excited to license existing Combichrist music. I’m looking forward playing the finished game when it comes out.” – Andy LaPlegua, Lead Singer Combichrist, June 2012

The Evo hype train gained some steam this week with the announcement that both attendance and prize pool numbers are breaking records. Chief among the fighting game pools is a Capcom-guaranteed $25,000 for Super SFIV Arcade Edition 2012 in celebration of the series’ 25th anniversary. That’s a nice slice for anyone in the top eight!
Our own Christian Svensson (or Sven, y’know) lays it all out:
“With Capcom celebrating its 25th Anniversary of Street Fighter this year, we thought it fitting that Evo’s Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition 2012 competitors should play for $25,000. Capcom wouldn’t be where it is today without the support of our hardcore fans, and this is just the first of many exciting opportunities to help celebrate this milestone for the Street Fighter franchise.”
Not an SFIV player? Ultimate MvC3 entrants can look forward to a $15,000 pool, and the two-person teams of Street Fighter X Tekken will be playing for $9,000. And if you miss Evo, we still have that year-long tournament series…
Well it’s HD because it’s real but it’s definitely not something you’d want to wipe your feet on. To see how it was made with step by step photos from the creator himself you should head over to the PS3site. Probably best to let Google do its best at translating it though. Okami HD will be available on PS3 this Autumn.

Taking full advantage of Kinect for Xbox 360, Steel Battalion Heavy Armor is an Xbox 360 exclusive first person action game set to deliver a uniquely immersive experience and an evolution in warfare gaming.
Set in 2082, Steel Battalion Heavy Armor depicts a world devoid of semiconductors, where war is waged with rudimentary weapons as new superpowers struggle for dominance. In this low-tech era, there is one weapon class that will determine the course of the war – the Vertical Tank (VT). Playing as pilot Lt. Powers players control one such VT as he embarks on a mission that will see the action shift from North America to battlefields and war-torn streets across the globe.Steel Battalion Heavy Armor delivers an unprecedented level of control and interaction. VT movement, aiming and firing of the main guns are undertaken using the Xbox 360 controller.
Check out these two excellent videos of gameplay from Leon’s section in Resident Evil 6! Each of the three playable campaigns – Leon, Chris and Jake – favors a certain tone. Leon veers toward tense, atmospheric gameplay, as he’s trapped in a zombie-infested Tall Oaks during a night time banquet for the president. Granted, things can get explosive even for Leon, but this demo helps convey the general mood.
Ōkami will be re-born this autumn as a digital download on PlayStation Network for £15.99/€19.99. Already one of the most beautiful games ever created, the addition of HD graphics will make this new version of Ōkami even more stunning. Ōkami HD will also feature PlayStation Move integration as well as a full suite of PlayStation 3 system trophies.
Initially released to critical acclaim on the PlayStation 2 system, players take on the role of Amaterasu, the Japanese sun goddess, who inhabits the form of a wolf. After a tyrannical monster turns the world into a ruined wasteland, she must use her magical abilities to restore the land to its previous glory full of life and color.
Ōkami HD brings Amaterasu’s epic tale to the PS3 with fully integrated HD graphics and 16:9 aspect ratio. The trademark sumi-e ink art style lends itself perfectly to HD allowing players to experience more of the awe-inspiring world displayed in greater detail than ever before.
To create an even more immersive experience, players can take advantage of the PlayStation Move motion controller and naturally make brush strokes with the essential Celestial Brush to defeat enemies and solve puzzles. Ōkami HD will also support the DUALSHOCK 3 wireless controller for those who wish to re-live the original experience.
