How Dragon's Dogma Changed the MT Framework

Time for another dev blog! This one comes from Programmer Taro Yahagi. You might learn a lot of new stuff in this one. . . .
My name is Yahagi, and I was in charge of MT Framework-related engineering and tuning for the Dragon’s Dogma team. Prior to this, I worked on Devil May Cry 4, Lost Planet Extreme Condition, Resident Evil 5, and Lost Planet 2. This time, as a member of the Dragon’s Dogma development team I was called upon to utilize my prior experience with the MT Framework and adapt it for open world use which is the foundation of this game.
In all my experience up until now, Dragon’s Dogma was the title that required the most tuning of the MT Framework system internals. One of the big differences between the game and what I had worked on prior to this was that all of those older titles were stage-based games, where all of the data for the stages would be read in during a loading screen, therefore requiring no further stage loading during the game. Street Fighter X Tekken combo vids

So my tag partner in Street Fighter X Tekken is Paul, and judging by the lack of combo vids online for him he’s not proving to be all that popular a character. But here’s one! Seb8691’s video shows off some good combos to do when tagging Paul in, which is good for me as I have Abel on point as he’s good for building meter and then tagging in Paul to dish out Phoenix Smashers all day. Live streaming from PAX East this weekend!

Starting on Friday the Capcom Unity team will be at PAX East, the Penny Arcade Expo in Boston, and they’ll be streaming a whole load of Capcom games including Devil May Cry HD Collection, SFxT, World Gone Sour, and Dragon’s Dogma featuring witty narration from notable Capcom employees.
