Evo 2011!
Jul 29th
Evo starts today and the greats of the fighting game genre will be using their god-like skills to become the best of the best at their chosen beat-em-up! Obviously the most interesting matches will be played on Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition and Marvel Vs Capcom 3.
But as we’re in Europe and didn’t book any flights to Vegas to go see it in person then it’s a good thing that the whole event will be streamed live, even if it does mean staying up to ridiculous hours and destroying sleep patterns it is totally worth it. You can check out the live stream over on Evo2k.com. And you can see the schedule for when and what people are playing here. It’s going to be epic! Again!

Both games in the storied franchise will be available for the first time in HD, remastered and better than ever. In addition to the upgraded visuals, the games will also include support for achievements and trophies.
One of the most critically acclaimed games of all time, Resident Evil 4 catapulted the series in a new direction, with a strong focus on all-out action as Leon S Kennedy battled hordes of cultists, mutants and mind-controlled villagers. Now available for the first time on Xbox 360 and PS3, the release also contains all the bonus content available in previous versions of the game, including the Separate Ways epilogue.
In the survival horror based Resident Evil CODE: Veronica X, the year is 1998, three months since the total destruction of Raccoon City and Claire Redfield is still in search of her missing brother Chris. While investigating an Umbrella facility in Paris, Claire is captured and transported to the remote Rockfort Island, where an accident releases t-virus samples and B.O.W.s, thrusting Claire back into a twisted, frightening survival horror journey once again.
Resident Evil 4 will be available to download 20 September on Xbox Live Games on Demand and PSN on September 21st. Resident Evil CODE: Veronica X will be available on Xbox Live Games on Demand on September 27th and 28th for PSN. Both titles will cost 1600 Microsoft Points or €19.99/£15.99 on PSN.
Frank West finds social media
Jul 27th
Frank West the most epic journalist in all journalism has taken over the Dead Rising Facebook page. Find out what he has to say here. He’s also been uploading videos to his Youtube channel. It might just be me but he sounds a bit grumpy, angry even. But I suppose you’d never be in the best of moods when you’re getting attacked by zombies and psychos all day…
So check out Facebook and Youtube, and leave a comment – you might be able to cheer him up a bit. Maybe.

Bionic ARRRRMMMM!
Jul 26th
NeoEmpire has a great interview with Combofiend who is probably most famous for his amazing comeback at Final Round which you can see right here:
In the interview he explains his own evolution through the fighting game genre:
NE: Does your soul still burn for fighting games? How different is it now for you to when you first started out?
CF: With all the new games out, my passion has definitely been reignited. I felt myself stagnating a few years ago due to playing the same games for around eight years. I’m pleased that there is a resurgence in fighting games and as such motivation to play and be the best once again. Also, I grew up in the arcades which was a different world altogether. I feel that not having a commonplace to have quality casuals makes learning the game take a little longer as there’s a smaller chance to get exposed to some of the lesser know strategies out there.
